Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on ROCKET ON GOLD be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event be subject to deductions of 3 cents win and 4 cents place on the face value of the betting ticket.

Race 4: MEADOWBANK CAMP RATINGS BAND 0-50 HANDICAP 1350m

Starter Mr R Gardner reported to Stewards immediately following the running of this event that the barrier stalls had malfunctioned and released the field resulting in a number of runners being disadvantaged. Mr Gardner further advised that he had not activated the start as he felt that some runners were not ready when the barrier gates opened. Stewards also took evidence from Jockeys W D’Avila (SUPAMETEOR), S Wilson (I AM BRUSE) and PARTY PIES (App. R  Shred) who confirmed that their respective mounts all had Barrier Attendants holding their heads when the barrier gates opened. After considering all submissions and viewing the available footage Stewards acting under the priovisions of AR132(a) declared a “No Race” and ordered that all monies wagered on the event be refunded in full.

Jockey N Yadi pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that he permitted BACKTOSPEC to shift out under hard riding near the 150m onto the running of IRISH HEART (S Wiseman) resulting in that runner having to be severely checked. Jockey Yadi’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight Saturday May 5th 2018 up to and including midnight Tuesday May 15th 2018. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Yadi’s good recent record in relation to the rule and the degree of interference which was considered in the mid range.
