SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Mount Garnet Friday May 5th 2018
 
Race 5. Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1680m
 
Jockey Ms. B Thomson, who rode THE PRINCIPAL, was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that she used the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the totality of whip use throughout the event as well as Ms. Thomson’s good recent record in relation to the rule.
 
GENERAL
 
The thoroughbreds IZZY’S KEEPER, SILVER BOWS and CAPTAIN’S WAY which all raced on the previous day, Friday May 4th, were inspected by the Veterinarian and cleared to race.
 
Race 1: TOTAL EDEN & SPRING BEAN BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000m
 
YIFAN – Dislodged App. A Thomson behind the barriers and cantered a short distance before being apprehended. App. Thomson declared herself free of injury and a subsequent Veterinary examination cleared YIFAN to take its place in the field. Raced wide for the majority.
 
PRINCESS SIDEREUS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SAMUEL JAMES - Raced wide for the majority.
 
IZZY’S KEEPER – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
MAN OF BUSINESS – Was inclined to shift ground when placed under pressure down the running.
 
BE WHY OH – Jockey S Wilson reported that the gelding was inclined to hang out for the majority. Trainer Mr. T Rowe advised he will implement a gear change prior to next start. Nonetheless Stewards advised Mr. Rowe that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
Race 2: MT GARNET ROADHOUSE GUNNUWARRA SHIELD CLASS 6 PLATE 1200m
 
FAR NORTH – Slowly away.
 
BELLA SASH – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FIZZICALLY WICKED - Raced wide for the majority.
 
MISHANI REDMAN - Raced wide for the majority.
 
JERRAZZ – Dislodged Jockey N Yadi on pulling up. Jockey Yadi was examined by Paramedics and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagement.
 
Race 3: PAUL WILLIAMS MEMORIAL NQ EXHIBITIONS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1350m
 
KWANZA – Raced wide without cover for the majority. Was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure down the running.
 
GREAT PRETENDER - Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
Race 4: MT GARNET TURF CLUB MEMBERS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1350m
 
CELESTIAL SON – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.

HOTEL HILLTOP - Raced wide for the majority.
 
ALPINE MAGIC - Raced wide for the majority.
 
MAROON CREEK - Raced wide for the majority. Was inclined to shift in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages crowding another runner. Jockey K Stone was reminded of his obligation to stop riding and straighten when his mount is shifting ground.
 
ROCKET OF GOLD – Was reluctant to load. Was hampered when crowded to the inside of runners near the 900m.
 
ROCKET ‘N’ RUBY – Restrained off heels near the 700m. Hampered when crowded by another runner over the concluding stages.
 
Race 5: TOTALLY WORKWEAR MT GARNET – CASHMERE CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1800m
 
HOT SAGA – Was reluctant to load. Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
STABLE SURPRIZE – Made heavy contact with the outside upright on jumping away. Jockey S Wiseman who was almost dislodged in this incident sustained an injury to the left foot and was placed at a severe disadvantage in running. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey Wiseman was attended by Paramedics and later transported to Atherton Hospital for further assessment.
