Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on the gelding be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event be subject to deductions of 13 cents in the dollar win and 12 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. After taking evidence from Jockey Watson, Barrier Attendant Mr J Fowler and Starter Mr R Gardner and viewing available patrol footage which revealed that Mr Fowler was in the process of removing the Pre Race Ear Muffs from Strada Grande when the start was effected, it was established that the incident had occurred due to a miscommunication. Susequently, Stewards acting under the provisions of AR204 declared Strada Grande a non-runner and ordered that all monies wagered on the mare be refunded in full and further that deductions of 9 cents in the dollar win and 10 cents in the dollar place on the face value of all successful betting tickets be applicable.
