QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MOUNT GARNET AMATEUR TURF CLUB FRIDAY 28 APRIL 2023 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – GOOD (3) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Gillard Stewards – S. Copelin, P. Lane Clerk of Scales – B. Gray Judge – R. Bannah Veterinarian – Dr M. RuppinSwab Attendants – Dr M. Ruppin Starter – B. Brady GENERAL The following horses which were returning from extended spells all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to race.Race 1 – Arrogant Heart, Don’t Whisper, Hervor.Race 2 – Don Arcangelo, Nantucket. Race 1: SMITHS TRANSPORT/BIZ OFFSIDER BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1000 Metres HERVOR – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with its outside barrier gate and lost ground. MINIEST – Slow to begin. ARROGANT HEART – Bumped soon after the start and shifted out making heavy contact with DON’T WHISPER. DON’T WHISPER – Bumped heavily soon after the start and blundered losing ground. Raced ungenerously in the home straight. OCTOBER STORM – Inconvenienced soon after the start by RACATOON which commenced to buck, checked and shifted wider to avoid that horse. BOOMALINA – Inconvenienced soon after the start by RACATOON which commenced to buck and was restrained. ALWAYS WRITTEN OFF – Inconvenienced soon after the start by RACATOON which commenced to buck and was restrained. RACATOON – Commenced to buck shortly after the start inconveniencing a number of runners. Trainer A. Ryan was advised he must provide a further barrier certificate for the gelding before being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: SILVERBACK UTES & CANOPIES CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200 Metres MACIPENKO – Kicked by another horse behind the barriers. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. QUATUM – Began awkwardly. MASARED – Raced wide for the majority of the race. BILBAO – Raced wide for the majority of the race. TOUCH OF BALI – A post-race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. TOUCH OF BALI shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4)Race 3: CLONCURRY MUSTERING BOB ATKINSON MEMORIAL BRACELET OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres YOSHI TORANAGA – Shifted inwards on jumping making contact with its inside barrier gate. FORGIATO – Slow to begin. SYLVESTER – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Race 4: TROY CUMMINGS LOCKSMITH/STOCKLICK QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1350 Metres The start of this race was delayed significantly due to a member of the public being injured and requiring urgent medical attention. CRAIGLEA CLIO – Slow into stride. Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race proving difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the off-hind leg. Trainers T & P Rowe were advised they must provide a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start or trial. ROTHGURL – Over-raced in the early stages. NOISE WORKS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. VANCOUVER LIGHTS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. JESKO – Raced wide for the majority of the race. HEAD BEE – Compounded over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Race 5: CENTRAL TYRE SERVICES FNQ MM/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL/FNQ U&C STAYERS BENCHMARK - 60 HANDICAP – 1680 Metres SEA ECHO – Slow to begin. Jockey N. Day reported the gelding never felt comfortable at any stage of the race and in his opinion did not appreciate the firmness of today’s racing surface. Trainer D. Reynolds was unable to explain the disappointing performance and advised he will have a veterinary examination carried out on returning to his training establishment and will advise stewards accordingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in its near-front fetlock. Trainer D. Reynolds was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to it being permitted to race again. I LOVE ROCK ROCK’N’ROLL – Lost its off-hind plate during running. Slow to begin. MISHANI REBOUND – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. WHITTERICK – Tendency to over-race in the middle stages. On returning to scale rider R. Shred explained it was not her intention to settle back in the field however after beginning only fairly the gelding was unable to muster early speed. LIPEANSASS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
