Race 1: GOLDEN RUN BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 900m

OUR BOY BRETT- Slow into stride. Resented the heavy kickback and commenced to race ungenerously for some distance from the 800m and trailed the field as a result. On returning to scale Jockey R Nelson advised that his mount had knuckled on jumping. Upon viewing the official footage Stewards were of the opinion that the outside front barrier gate had sprung back and struck the geldings shoulder on exiting the barriers resulting in it shifting in on jumping. As Stewards had not been advised of this prior to the declaration of correct weight no further action was taken. Remedial work was conducted on the gate in question prior to the commencement of Race 2.

MESMER- Obliged to restrain to avoid the heels of another runner which shifted in passing the 600m.

BLAINE- Obliged to restrain to avoid the heel of another runner which was restrained passing the 600m.

FLOSSY TOP- Obliged to restrain and shift in passing the 600m when a runner to its outside shifted in.

MAGIC TOWN- Slow into stride.

COME ALIVE- Raced wide throughout.

Race 3: RICHMOND FREIGHT & PLANT HIRE MAIDEN PLATE 1000m

MR TYCOON- Stewards acceded to a request for Jockey D Ballard to ride the gelding 2kg overweight. Raced wide throughout.

SUPER SID- Stewards permitted Jockey R McMahon to ride the gelding 0.5kg overweight when he was unable to satisfy the geldings allocated weight and no other suitable rider was available. Jockey McMahon was severely reprimand under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.

CRAZY SUSPECT- Significantly delayed the start after breaking through the front of the barriers and galloping a significant distance prior to being caught and subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:58pm. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the applicable deductions to bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 2:58pm as follows:

39 cents in the dollar for the win
23 cents in the dollar for the place

Trainer T Parry was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

WRONGLY ACCUSED- Proved reluctant to load.

SUPER SID- Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner.

DUNTROON MAN- Bumped with another runner on jumping.

LEGATO FEELING- Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: KENNEDY RURAL QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200m

SAPPHIRE WINGS- Was fractious in the mounting yard dislodging Jockey N Nelson. Jockey Nelson subsequently declared herself fit to continue with her engagement. Proved reluctant to load. Trainer M Preston was advised the gelding would be required to trial under race day conditions satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

MISS SIZZ- Broke through the front of the barrier prior to the start but was quickly restrained by its rider. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination prior to resuming its place in the field and was passed fit to start.

MYOLA MILLY- Marginally slow to begin and obliged to steady when placed in restricted room soon after the start. Assumed a trailing position from that point and was under pressure early to maintain contact with the field. Raced wide the majority.

PHOENIX SHADOW- Raced wide throughout.

FAFA- Performed below market expectations. Jockey D Ballard advised that he was obliged to place the gelding under pressure early to maintain its position and as a result of being under that sustained pressure his mount compounded in the home straight. Trainer T Parry advised that she believes the gelding to be lacking fitness stating further that it will derive benefit from today’s run. Stewards noted the explanations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
