QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MORANBAH RACE CLUB 9TH NOVEMBER 2024 WEATHER – FINETRACK RATING – DIRTRAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. SuliStewards – G. Wust, S. Stehbens GENERAL Due to the extreme forecasted temperatures, stewards conducted today’s meeting under the provisions of the Caring for Racing Animals in Extreme Heat Policy. To mitigate the circumstances of races being conducted in extreme heat, the race start times at today’s meeting were amended on acceptance day to the times listed below: Race 1. 11:00amRace 2. 11:30amRace 3. 12:00pmRace 4. 12:30pm Race 5. 1:00pm Jockey M. McDonald was unable to attend today’s meeting due to mechanical failure. RACE 1: MINING & ENERGY UNION Class B Handicap (1000 Metres) BURDEKIN BOY – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. KING ALE – When questioned regarding the performance in today’s event, Jockey E. Bell reported that after being slow away, KING ALE failed to respond to her riding urges at any point in the event. Jockey Bell further stated that the gelding failed to handle the dirt track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed gelding to be showing signs of heat stress. TSUNAMI FORCE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. GREY POWER – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under in the home straight. Trainers representative J. Doolan reported that GREY POWER had lost its off-fore shoe in running. COOL MAN SHOW – Slow into stride. Had to be steadied when racing onto the heels of KING ALE and had to shift wider to obtain clear racing room. RACE 2: DENTALCAREXTRA QTIS Maiden Plate (1000 Metres) MARKERINK – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MISSISSIPPI MORN – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. NOBLE MASTER (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. FAIRYBOWER FLYER – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. SHE’S A FERRARI – Reluctant to load. Slow to begin. I’M STELLAR – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out. RACE 3: OAKA CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1170 Metres) EMMA’S JET – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. IMPERIUM – Was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 10:36pm am due to no suitable rider being available. MISS GABBIANO – Raced wide in the early stages. OUTBACK STEP – Bumped on jumping by LENNY ROCKET which shifted out. Raced wide throughout. Laid in approaching the 200m and had to be steadied and shift out to avoid the heels of MISS GABBIANO. HOLLYWOOD DREAMING – Raced wide in the early stages. LENNY ROCKEY – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping OUTBACK STEP. Raced ungenerously in the home straight. RACE 4: RACING QUEENSLAND COUNTRY STAMPEDE QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap (1170 Metres) LILY ALLEZ (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages. MOCAMBO – Slow into stride. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.MISTER LARRABEE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. KING JESTER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. ENABLER – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. GRAND DE LAGO – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. RACE 5: ISAAC REGIONAL COUNCIL MORANBAH CUP BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1550 Metres) HERE HE LOOMS – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. KEFALONIA – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Upon returning to scale, Jockey W. Satherley reported that KEFALONIA felt awkward in its action throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M. Cochrane was advised to report to stewards on KEFALONIA’s condition in the coming days. YOUNG HENRY – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly. VIVACIOUS AWARD – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. DELIUS – Elected to be steadied when racing in restricted room between runners near the 1400m. Upon entering the home straight, elected to shift out to avoid the heels of KEFALONIA and to obtain clear racing room.
