Race 1: MILES IGA/MILES TYRE AND BATTERY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1050M
 
 
AT THE HELM- Slow to begin. At the 600m point didn’t appear to be racing well and began to weaken out of the race from the home turn. Jky P Hamblin advised Stewards that the horse failed to run on despite his best efforts to improve. Due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding a post-race Veterinary examination was undertaken. This examination revealed the presence of blood in one nostril. Stable representative for Trainer W Baker was advised that the horse would be required to run a 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards prior to it racing again.
 
JOEY JAWS- Jockey D Baker advised Stewards when returning to scales that he dropped his whip at the 500m point and advised that he was unable to ride his mount out effectively but was happy with the gelding’s effort over the final stages of the event.
 
CAMARILLO- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MISERY MISS- Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: J MULLINS PLUMBING/DRURY FAMILY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
 
BINDANGO- Hung out for a short distance in the home straight.
 
SIR JOHNY- Slow on beginning.
 
SOMETHINFROMNOTHIN- - Leaving the 1000m point rolled out marginally before being corrected by the rider resulting in the rider of ZOWAI having to take hold. Appr Jky T Townsend was advised to exercise more care. Shortly after entering the home straight hung out for some distance before being corrected by the rider.
 
ZOWAI-Leaving the 1000m point had to taken hold when SOMETHINFROMNOTHIN rolled out marginally. Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
MISS THE BEANS- Trainer C Bills was reprimanded by Stewards for being in breach of AR227(a), failing to comply with a direction- (overweight policy).
 
TEKAKWITHA- Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: MURRILLA FOODWORKS/ GDL CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M
 
KABALEGA- Began well then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Raced extremely wide went entering the home turn and raced wide for the remainder. Ran on strongly over the concluding stages.
 
FUMBLEROOSKI- Bumped heavily by VERY SOON shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
KARARA- Slow into stride at the start.
 
VERY SOON- Began awkwardly and make contact with the barrier petition on the left side then bumped FUMBLEROOSKI after the start. Jky L Miller reported to stewards that he hit his left ankle and had some soreness as a result of the incident. Jky Miller was examined by QAS and subsequently passed fit to continue riding for the remainder of the program.
 
Race 4: MURILLA CUP OPEN HANDICAP SPONSORED BYTHE Q HOTEL & AUSTRALIAN HOTEL 1200M
 
MOSCINI- Hung in from the home turn for some distance before being corrected by its rider.
 
PATENTED-Raced wide for the majority of the event. Trainer Pat Webster was fined $200 by Stewards acting under the provision of LR67(1) for his failure to declare a rider by the prescribed time on his charges PATENTED and OFFICE JIM.
 
ANCHIENT ECHOES- Prior to entering the home turn began to hang in for some distance. After inquiring into Appr T leslight’s use of the whip during the running of the event. Stewards acting under the provision of AR132(5) suspended Appr Jky T Leslight’s licence to ride in races for a period of 7 days due to his excessive use of the whip on 17 occasions in totality. His suspension was to commence on the 12th of February 2023 up to and including the 18th of February 2023 allowing him the freedom to ride on the 19th of February 2023. Appr Jky Leslight was advised of his right to a review in relation to the incident.

Race 5: JOHN MULLINS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP SPONSORED BY MURILLA HARDWARE SUPPLIES 1500M
 
ELIZANO- Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Began to improve into the race at the 400m and ran on strongly over the final stages of the event. Tended to hang out in the early stages of the home straight before being corrected by its rider.
 
BUSHIDO- As the gates opened, they then bounced back making contact with the gelding on jumping. Had to ease off heels of ELIZANO at approximately the 1300m point. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
AKATINO- Led for the majority of the event and began to weaken from the 500m and then raced at the rear of the field from the 400m. A post-race Veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected.
 
GRATSIE- Dislodged the rider on the way to the barriers ran off for some distance before being caught by the Clerk of the Course. A subsequent Veterinary examination was undertaken with the gelding being passed fit to race. Appr. Jky T Townsend was examined by QAS and passed fit to the ride in the event.
