SUPPLEMENTRY REPORT
 
Rhys Miller pleaded guilty to a charge under LR7 (e) in that he rode track-work at the Mackay Turf Club during the month of January 2017 when he did hold the appropriate licence do so.
In considering penalty Stewards took into account Mr Millers forthright evidence and guilty plea along with previous convictions under similar rules. Mr Miller was further advised that should he continue to breach rules of a similar nature any applications for a license may be reviewed.  
Mr Miller was fined the sum of $500.  
 
 
Trainer Mark Dale pleaded guilty to a charge under LR43 in that he employed a person to ride track-work at Mackay Turf Club in the month of January 2017 who was not the holder of an appropriate license to do so. Mr Dale was fined the sum of $200.



 
Darren Birrer pleaded guilty to a charge under AR87B (1) in that he rode a horse onto the Mackay Turf Club premises on 19 January 2017 when not wearing the required safety gear of a vest whilst mounted on a horse, he further pleaded guilty to a charge under AR87 in that he rode a horse onto the Mackay Turf Club premises on 19 January 2017 when not wearing the required safety gear of a helmet. Mr Birrer was found guilty under the provisions of LR7(e) in that he performed duties in handling a horse when not the holder of an appropriate license to do so. In considering penalty Stewards took into account his forth right evidence throughout the inquiry and his personal circumstances. Mr Birrer was fined a total of $500.       
 
LATE RIDING CHANGES


As Jockey A. Coome was ill and unable to fulfil his engagements, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Coome was advised that he must provide a medical clearance prior to being permitted to ride again.
 
 
Race 1: Barcam Electrical BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1050 metres
1st  -  CHINA TOWN2nd  -  COURT LANE  3rd  -  SUSSEX STREET  4th  -  ELSPETH'S STAR
 
BIRTHDAY WISHES - After arriving behind the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Bumped by another runner on jumping. Jockey D. Simmons reported that the mare was reluctant to stretch out. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.                
 
SUSSEX STREET - Began awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with another runner. On returning to scale Jockey N. Day reported that the reins slipped through his hands on jumping, placing him at a disadvantage in the early stages.
 
COURT LANE - Bumped heavily by another runner at the start and lost ground.
 
FORTUNE MASCOT - Buffeted between runners in the early stages.
 
ELSPETH'S STAR - Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2:  Whitson & Dawson Accountants BenchMark 65 Handicap  - 1300 metres
1st  -   ZATORIO  2nd  -  FROM THE DARKNESS  3rd   -  THE CATHOLIC GIRL  4th  -  DANE SLUGGER
 
DANE SLUGGER - Slow into stride.
 
ZATORIO - Had to be restrained off heels when over-racing in the early stages.
 
WINSOMEMORE - Shifted out across heels near the 800 metres, taking another runner wider.
 
FROM THE DARKNESS - Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
LAMERICAN - Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages. Was taken wider by another runner which shifted out across heels near the 800 metres. Rider C. Bayliss stated that in his opinion the mare, which raced below market expectations, had failed to handle the soft track conditions. A post race veterinary examination fail to reveal any abnormalities.
 
THE CATHOLIC GIRL - Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
RESETALENKO  - A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding  had broken down in the off foreleg. Trainer Mr T. Cook was advised that he must furnish a veterinary clearance prior to RESETALENKO being permitted to race again..
 
Race 3  -  Channel 7 BenchMark 70 Handicap -  1100 metres
1st  -  SABA LASS  2nd  -  BOSSY BEACH  3rd  -  CANNY AND THE JET/COVENTRY (dh)
 
COVENTRY - After arriving behind the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
MAHRAJAAN - Inclined to over-race in the early stages of the race.
 
SAN RAYMOND - Restrained off heels near the 800 metres.
 
CANNY AND THE JET - Shifted wider near the 450 metres and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
Race 4:  Mackay State High Maiden Plate -  1200 metres
1st  -  TICKETS TO RIDE  2nd  -  PRINCE OF MINE  3rd   -  PRINCESS TORIO  4th  -  LUARICA
 
 PROFESSOR ROY -  Was fractious in the barriers. The gelding, which raced below market expectations, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and no abnormalities were detected. Trainer J. Manzelmann advised that in his opinion the gelding will be better suited over a longer distance.
 
PRINCESS TORIO - Slow into stride.
 
BOLD INDI - Checked near the 750m and lost ground.
 
GENERAL BEERS - Slow into stride, raced ungenerously from the 600 metres to the home turn.
 
GRANDZONE ROCKET -  Slow into stride. Was inclined to over-race in the early stages. 
 
GLADISHING - Knuckled over on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LUARICA - Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Jockey M. Abe pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he allowed SPY CI to shift in near the 750 metres when insufficiently clear of PALE FACE ROCKET (S. Sheargold), which was taken in onto BOLD INDI (App. C. Bayliss), resulting in that horse being checked and losing its rightful running. Jockey Abe's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight on 31st January 2017, up to and including midnight on  8th February 2017.
 
Race 5: Payne Print QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1100 metres

MOLONGLE MAGIC - After being placed in the barriers became fractious and was examined by the veterinary surgeon. Was a late scratching, at 3.37 p.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice.
 
REMI ROCKS - Became fractious when placed in the barriers. The filly was examined by the veterinary surgeon and, acting on his advice, stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the horse at 3.36 p.m.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies wagered on both REMI ROCKS and BELONGLE MAGIC be refunded in full, and that all successful  bets made prior to 3.36 p.m. be subject to the following deductions:

            7¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, SEBRINGS DRAMA

CATHEDRAL CITY -  When Jockey L. Attard was to be overweight, Jockey B. Thomson was substituted as rider of the filly. Jockey Attard was fined $200 under A.R. 120(b)

CANDLE LANTERN - Slow to begin.
 
SEBRINGS DRAMA - Rider N. Summers dropped her whip near the 300 metres.
 
TAUGHT BY THE BEST - Slowly away.
 
NIGHT LILY - Bled from both nostrils.  Trainer M. Bannon was advised that, as this was the first occasion on which the filly had bled, it will be barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward.
 
CAPE HALIFAX - Slowly away.
 
OUR INVESTMENT - Slowly away and raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: MTC 100 Club BenchMark 65 Handicap -  1560 metres
1st  -  PERFECTLY ALIGNED  2nd  -  WHITEHOUSE AFFAIR  3rd   -  OUR GIRL CHARLOTTE  4th  -  MYSTIC HARMONY
 
DELIVERY - Raced disappointingly. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon who reported that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary certificate must be provided prior to the horse racing again.
 
PERFECTLY ALIGNED - Trainer J. Lancaster was questioned in regard to the seemingly improved performance of the gelding. She said that in her opinion the horse was not suited by firm tracks and appreciated the softer going today.
 
GOT YOU DOUBLE - Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
OUR GIRL CHARLOTTE -  Slowly away.
 
WHITEHOUSE AFFAIR  - Over-raced in the early stages.
 
Race 7: 4MK Open Handicap - 1300 metres
1st  -  CRAIGLEA DEKEN  2nd  -  MOTORISED  3rd   -  CRAIGLEA WANDOO  4th -  MISHANI GLADIATOR 
 
MOTORIST - Near the 300 metres shifted out slightly and inconvenienced  another runner. Jockey N. Day was fined $100 under A.R. 145 for returning to scale 1kg above his declared weight.
 
DAPH 'N' ALF - When questioned regarding the performance App. C. Bayliss stated that his instructions were to take up a forward position, and after beginning well was able attain the lead comfortably and therefore was reluctant to restrain his mount. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
CASINO BENJO - Raced wide early.
 
MISHANI GLADIATOR - Raced wide without cover throughout, and near the 300 metres was inconvenienced when crossed by another runner.
