MORE THAN KALOOKAN - Bled from both nostrils during running. Trainer Mr J. Campeao was advised that, as this was the first occasion on which the gelding had bled, it will be banned from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of a 1000m in the presence of a steward. A further veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near fore leg, trainer Mr J. Campeao was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior the gelding being permitted to race again. Jockey Kliese stated that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages, however failed to respond to his efforts over the concluding stages and was disappointing. Trainer Mr A. Cameron agreed with this assessment and informed stewards that it was his intention to spell the horse. A post-race veterinary examination of SHAHQA did not reveal any abnormalities. TINTO ELEMENTO - Became momentarily unbalanced when shifting around heels near the 200m. Stewards inquired into an incident that took place near the 1000m which resulted in LUARICA (D. Simmons) clipping heels and blundering. After taking evidence from Apprentice Z. White, the rider of TINTO ELEMENTO, D. Sparks,(MOLONGLE MAGIC), D. Simmons (LUARICA), D. Hayse (REDATAQ), J. Woodhouse (SMOOCH), and S. Sheargold (SECURITY BELLE) and viewing the patrol films, stewards established that REDATAQ and LUARICA had been tightened for room on jumping between MOLONGLE MAGIC and SMOOCH, and those 4 horses continued to race tight approaching the 1000m, where TINTO ELEMENTO shifted out marginally, resulting in MOLONGLE MAGIC shifting out and away from that runner, placing LUARICA in restricted room between MOLONGLE MAGIC and REDATAQ. As a result of this tightening LUARICA clipped the heels of REDATAQ and blundered, losing ground. As stewards could not attribute the incident to careless riding by any one rider, it was recorded as a racing incident. Race 5: Blacks Real Estate H.L.
