Race 6 – Stockland Townville Open H’cap – 1200m
 
Perfect Knowledge – When questioned in regards to the riding tactics adopted on the day, rider B. Swaffer stated his instructions were to ride his mount off the pace with cover, however after beginning well and travelling strongly, the horse raced comfortably in the lead and he was reluctant to restrain his mount. Trainer G. Bourke confirmed those instructions and further added that it will be her intention that the horse be ridden with cover in future starts.
 
Tambo’s Heart – Following the gelding’s performance on the day, trainer L. Wright advised stewards that the horse has now been sent for a spell.  
 
Race 1: Sacca Heavy Repairs QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1050m
 
LOVABLE DOTTIE – Delayed the start when it proved difficult to load into the barriers. Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Trainer Mr L. Wright, was advised he must provide a further barrier certificate before the filly would be permitted to race again.  
 
BANK TELLER – Slow to begin.
 
YOU KNOW THE ONE – Shifted inwards shortly after the start, bumping another runner.
 
SYNONYMS – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
 
FLINDERS HIWAY – When asked to explain today’s performance, jockey J. Stanley stated that the filly travelled well in the early and middle stages, however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure, and then raced greenly in the home straight. He was further of the opinion it would take benefit from today’s outing. Trainer W. Kenning explained it was the filly’s first run back from a spell and while he was disappointed with today’s performance, agreed with rider J. Stanley that it would benefit from today’s outing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 2: Triple M Give Me 5 For Kids Maiden H’cap – 1300mx
 
HAMMERFEST – Slow to begin.
 
MURTAHOME – Commenced to hang out leaving the 700m, shifting wider rounding the home turn and tightening a runner near the 300m.  Trainer J. Campeao, was advised that a warning would be placed on the horses racing manners.
 
PRINCE OF MINE – Taken wider and tightened for room when bumped near the 300m.
 
MISHANI LA SCALA – Improved onto heels near the 500m, having to be steadied.
 
SMARTY JACK – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
COLORADO RIVER – Bumped by another runner near the 300m.
 
Race 3: Ma’s Pizza Kitchen Benchmark 55 H’cap – 1800m
 
EXTRA COVER – Declared a late scratching at 8.08 am by order of the stewards. Trainer R. Vale was fined $100 for failing to scratch the horse by the prescribed time.
 
DONAVIA – The start was delayed due to the horse shifting a plate, requiring farrier attention.  Fractious in the barriers.
 
KANUI – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
PLAIN ‘N’ SIMPLE – Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 300m, bumping another runner.
 
SARABAH – Bumped by another runner near the 300m.
 
Race 4:  Blacks Real Estate H.L. Black Memorial Open H’cap – 1800m
 
LOKUM – Held up for clear running for a short distance approaching the 300m.
 
VEGAS FLYER – Compounded in the home straight.  Connections advised that it was now their intention that the gelding be sent for a spell.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: Barry Williams  Memorial Lightning/ 2018 Race To The Reef WFA Heat – 1050m
 
TINTO ELEMENTO – Connections advised Stewards today that it will be their intention that the mare be ridden just off the speed if circumstances permit, which is in contrast to its previous start when it led. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
BLAZING STEEL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
GRAND EMPEROR – Became fractious as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
CLOSE THE BEACHES – Slow to begin. Following today’s performance trainer M. Attard advised Stewards it is now his intention that the gelding now be sent for a spell.
 
IRON GEORGE – When asked to explain the performance of the gelding today, rider B Pengelly stated his mount began well and raced comfortably until leaving the 600m, however when placed under pressure failed to run on  as anticipated and was disappointing. Stable representative Mr S. Lynch advised stewards the horse had pleased in trackwork leading up to today’s event and was at a loss to explain the performance today. He further gave an undertaking to advise stewards of anything that may come to his notice in the coming days that may have had a bearing on the horse’s performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 6: Crane Ligistics Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1200m
 
FIRESTAR PHOENIX – As rider D. Hayse was unable to fulfil his engagement due to medical restrictions, he was replaced by rider D. Edmonds.
 
POINT FORWARD – Began awkwardly and lost ground leaving the 800m. Raced in restricted room in the home straight. When questioned into the seemingly poor performance, rider J. Stanley stated that the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout the race and he was at a loss to explain the performance. Trainer O. Cairns expressed her disappointment in today’s performance and advised Stewards that the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
 
HOT TEMPO – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 300m until leaving the 200m.
 
INNER HURRY – Slow to begin.
 
LIKER – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
REMISSO – Restrained from the heels of another runner, which lost ground near the 800m.
 
CAPTAIN’S PICK – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
POUND STERLING – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ART NOUVEAU – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 7: Prochem Agencies Benchmark 65 H’cap - 1560m
 
 
HEYINGTON – Slow to begin.
 
UNDER THE WEATHER – Raced ungenerously leaving the 1400m for some distance, throwing its head in the air.
 
OPTION – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
BROKEN FINGER – Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
FASSLER – Shifted wider leaving the 800m to obtain clear running and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
WINSOMEMORE – Shifted wider leaving the 800m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
