Race 1:  Man About Menswear BM55 H’cap – 1800m
 
PROANE – Slow to begin. Shifted in slightly near the 500m, placing another runner in restricted room, which had to be checked. Jockey B. Pengelly, rider of PROANE, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.  
 
DANZ THE MAN – After being initially slow to begin was then inconvenienced by another runner, which shifted in at the start. Made the crossing out of the straight awkwardly and shifted out, forcing another runner wider. Was placed in restricted room near the 500m when tiring and was tightened room having to be checked.  
 
RIPPIN ‘N’ TEARIN – Forced very wide on the track rounding the turn out of the straight on the first occasion by another runner which made the crossing awkwardly.
 
FLYING FERO – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 500m, placing another runner in restricted room. Jockey D. Hayse, rider of FLYING FERO, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.  
 
CARLINO’S WAY – Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
PLAIN ‘N’ SIMPLE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LITTLE HUNTER – Made the crossing near the 1500m awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race. When questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance, rider D. McLellan stated that the horse never travelled comfortably throughout the race and had a tendency to lay out and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure leaving the 700m and was disappointing. Trainer T. Button was at a loss to explain the performance today and gave an undertaking to advise stewards of anything that comes to his attention in the near future that may have had a bearing on today’s performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 2:  McDonald Murphy Machinery Class 2 Plate – 1050m
 
FIRESTAR PHOENIX – Declared a late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 11.45 am when the horse was found to be lame in the off foreleg. A veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the horse’s next race start.
 
THE CHEATAH – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
ONE STRYKE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
ARARRAC – Shifted wider from the 700m to obtain clear running and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
SNEAKY SNIPER- Unable to obtain clear running in the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
Race 3:  IBIS Mackay Class 6 Plate – 1050m
 
OAKFIELD COSTA – Declared a late scratching at 9 am by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 9 am when the horse was found to be lame in the off foreleg.  A veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the horse’s next race start.
 
BEAU JET – Slow to begin.
 
LE CHIFFRE – Slow to begin.
 
RISE TO FAME – Slow into stride.
 
MARSEILLE ROULETTE – A post-race veterinary examination of the horse, which finished tailed off, revealed an abrasion to its off fore bumper and also the presence of blood in its near side nostril. Trainer J. Manzelmann, was advised that the horse must gallop to the satisfaction of the stewards over 1000m before being permitted to race again.
 
Race 4: Mojos Class 3 Plate – 1300m
 
DESERT GREY – Slow to begin.
 
ANNIE’S OUR HERO – Slowly into stride.
 
BLAZING STEEL – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race. When questioned into the disappointing performance, rider C. Jokic stated she was at a loss to explain the performance as the horse never travelled comfortably throughout the race and failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure leaving the 700m.  Trainer G. Bourke was also at a loss to explain the performance, explaining the gelding had worked well leading up to today’s event and was very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer G. Bourke was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the horse being permitted to race again.    
 
DAMN FINE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
REMISSIO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 5:  Natural Body & Beauty Clinic BM65 H’cap – 1560m
 
OUR BOY NICHOLAS – Slow go begin.
 
MR BOXVALE – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the race. Rider
C. Whiteley, was reprimanded in that he used his whip in consecutive strikes prior to the 100m.
 
PROFUSIVE – Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the race.
 
VEGAS FLYER – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
 
CHIEF ADVOCATE – Shifted wider leaving the 1000m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
Race 6: Taylors Solicitors Mackay Cup H’cap – 1800m
 
On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey A. Sewell, rider of the second placegetter, TUCANO, against BALBOA ROCKS (B. El-Issa) being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 300m. After hearing submissions from the connections and riders and viewing the official race film, stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
CHIVADAHLII – Began awkwardly.
 
FASTNET FLYER – Restrained at the start to obtain a position closer to the inside rail.
 
KINCAPLE CHIEF – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight and was restrained approaching the winning post, going to the line without being fully tested.
 
GREY STEYNE – Crowded for room near the 300m and was steadied.
 
FAR NORTH – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 7:  Southern Sheet & Coil Newmarket H’cap – 1300m
 
AVONACO – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the 200m.
 
FRIENDLY DRAGON – Slow to begin.  On return to scale was found to have bled from one nostril.  Trainer J. McConachy, was advised that the gelding must gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
COURT CLOWN – Began awkwardly.
 
CRAIGLEA DEKEN – Restrained near the 900m when racing in restricted room.
 
IRON GEORGE – Shifted in near the 900m, crowding runners to its inside.  Apprentice E. Smith was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Forced wider by another runner near the 200m.
 
BEAUDRAGON – Crowded for room near the 900m.
 
MASON’S CHANCE – Crowded for room and bumped by another runner near the 300m. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m, forcing other runners wider.
 
GRAND EMPEROR – Shifted out to obtain clear running, bumping another runner near the 300m.
 
RIVARIVA – Forced wider by another runner near the 200m.
 
LAND OFFICE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
