General Due to the cancellation of a southern meeting, the following race times were rescheduled as follows: Race 1 – 1.40 pm, Race 2 – 2.15 pm, Race 3 – 2.55 pm, Race 4 – 3.35 pm, Race 5 – 4.10 pm, Race 6 – 4.40 pm, Race 7 - 5.10 pm. __________________________ As jockey B. Pengelly was unable to ride at today’s meeting due to injury, replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. Jockey Pengelly was advised he must provide a medical clearance prior to his next riding engagement. ___________________________ The following horses were advertised in the Race Book as carrying blinkers but did not carry blinkers: Race 1 – Vamparina, Race 4 – Earl Of Fordyce, Race 5 – Shiranda. These were not gear changes. The following horse was advertised in the Race Book as carrying blinkers but did not race in blinkers: Race 5 – Fordyce Knight. This was a gear change. ___________________________ Race 1: Blacks Real Estate QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1050m LORETTA’S ROSE – Reluctant to load, delaying the start. The trainer’s representative was advised that a warning would be placed on filly’s barrier manners. CRAIGLEA BARON – Slowly away. VAMPARINA – Raced greenly and wide throughout. Race 2: SH Tait & Co Accountants Maiden H’cap – 1050m GROOVY PLAYMATE – Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly. HENRYROBERT – Shifted out soon after jumping, tightening runners to its outside. TRIX – Shifted in abruptly soon after jumping, tightening runners to its inside. Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority of the race. Raced greenly throughout. DREAM DANZA – Was tightened between runners soon after the start. SIR EARLSTOUN – Lost ground when severely tightened for room soon after the start. CRISTOVAO – Travelled wide in the early stages. Shifted wider near the 700m to improve, racing wide from that point. MISSGOODYTWOSHOES – Apprentice A. Thompson was fined the sum of $200 for excessive whip use prior to the 100m. Immediately following the running of Race 2 the track rating was downgraded from Soft 6 to Soft 7. A short time later following further heavy rain, the track was further downgraded to Heavy 8. All remaining races were put back one time slot with Race 7 timed to go at 5.40pm. Race 3: National Australia Bank Mackay Class 1 H’cap – 1050m ROCKETHEAD – Shifted out on jumping, hampering another runner. WAY TOO SASSY – Hampered on jumping by another runner, which shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the race. FLOSSY TOP – Inclined to overrace in the early stages when crossed by another runner. BEBADO – Raced wide for the majority of the event. HEAVENLY DREAM – Jockey R. Payne advised that, in her opinion, the gelding was never comfortable in today’s heavy conditions. JUZOU – Raced greenly in the home straight. NORTHERN SECRET – Raced wide for the majority of the race. App. R. Shred pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 600m, she made insufficient effort to prevent NORTHERN SECRET from shifting in onto the running of DEVIOUS (S. Watkin) which was checked and in turn taken in onto the running of FLOSSY TOP (D.Simmons) which was severely checked and lost its position. Apprentice Shred’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight 20thDecember 2018 up to and including 30th December 2018. Race 4: Veris Mackay Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1300m PROFUSIVE – Slowly away. RISE TO FAME – Slowly away. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race. STARANTE – Began awkwardly. ACADEMY HILL – Shifted in when placed under pressure in the home straight. EARL OF FORDYCE – Slowly away. Jockey D. Simmons was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip prior to the 100m. Race 5: Jetson Salvage & Scrap Metal Class 2 Plate – 1560m FORDYCE KNIGHT – Commenced to lose ground passing the 500m. A post race veterinary examination no abnormalities. PROANE – Raced wide throughout. Race 6: McDonald Murphy Machinery Open H’cap – 1560m GREEN EMPIRE – Slowly away. IT AND A BIT – Slowly away. BAWAARDI ROCKET – After being slow to begin was hampered by another runner, which shifted out. Apprentice H. English advised that, in her opinion, the gelding failed to handle today’s heavy conditions. GINGER SNAP – Shifted out soon after jumping, hampering another runner. EFFECTAV – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m. DEPUTY DAN – Jockey C. Jokic advised that, in her opinion, her mount failed to handle today’s heavy conditions. Race 7: Smartstate Vehicle Rentals Class 6 Plate – 1100m LIEUTENANT DAN – Slowly away. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
