All bets on Snowy Rocket were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:

5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
7 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets for the win

GREY FALCON – Slow to begin.

MILITARY PRINCE – Slow to begin and settled at the tail of the field. Stewards questioned D Evans over tactics adopted in the event, particularly his reason for remaining in a one-off rearward position until near the 400 metres as well the amount of vigour shown in the early stages of the home straight. Evidence was also tendered by owner Mr W Baulch, representing trainer J Lancaster, who was not present at today’s meeting. After considering all evidence, including video replays of the horse’s most recent starts, stewards advised D Evans that in their opinion his ride lacked initiative, particularly in not commencing a 3 wide run earlier near the 400 metres as well as failing to apply greater pressure to MILITARY PRINCE in the early stages of the home straight. Stewards further advised D Evans that although his ride fell below that expected of a rider of his experience, he could not be held fully culpable to the requisite standard required for a breach of the rules on this occasion and in future should not ride in such a manner that leaves himself open to query.
A post-race veterinary examination of MILITARY PRINCE failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
