QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MACKAY TURF CLUB – TUESDAY 16th APRIL 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD 4 RAIL – 3m ENTIRE COURSE OFFICIALSStewards – P Lane, P Gillard, C WarrenStarter – P ConwayJudges – S BryantClerk of Scales – A WarryBookmakers Supervisor – Stewards Veterinarian – C HarperSwab Attendant – N Paull Race 1: SMARTSTATE VEHICLE RENTALS BENCHMARK 69 HANDICAP 1800m MUSTARRID – Declared a late scratching at 1.46pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary when found to be lame in the near foreleg when arriving at the barriers. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applicable on the face value off all successful bets. 1st - Less 31 cents on win bets - Less 23 cents on place bets 2nd - Less 29 cents Trainer O. Cairns was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the horse’s next start. FABULOUS CHILD – Bumped with another runer at the start after beginning awkwardly. Raced ungenerously with its head in the air near the 1400m. CRAIGLEA VIRTUE – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 200m. WINSOMEMORE – Shifted in under pressure near the 200m placing another runner in restricted room. Race 2: MACKAY BLUES ROCK SESSION 6th JULY BENCHMARK 69 HANDICAP 1300m CASTA – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. UNDER THE WEATHER – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which was having its first start back from a spell and finished tailed off failed to reveal any abnormalities. HEYINGTON – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the middle stages. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight. MR ATTITUDE – Over-raced in the early stages. Race 3: SEVEN MACKAY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m Correct weight was delayed when G. Watson (MIGHTY MEERKAT) lodged a protest against IFYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN (J. Stanley) being declared the winner alleging interference near the 250m. After hearing, all of the evidence and viewing the Stewards patrol film it was established MIGHTY MEERKAT shifted in near 250m causing IFYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN to shift in and away making contact with DRUMEOUS (E. Smith) which shifted out slightly before being bumped on the hindquarters causing IFYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN, to shift out bumping MIGHTY MEERKAT. As Stewards could attribute sole blame to anyone rider or horse they dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judge’s numbers. CRAIGLEA ESKIMO – Slow to begin. MIGHTY MEERKAT – Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 250m causing another runner to shift in and away and then was bumped by that runner which shifted back out. IFYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN – Shifted in and away from another runner which shifted in near the 250m making contact with another runners hindquarters and then shifted out bumping a runner to its outside. DRUMEOUS – Shifted out slightly near the 250m before being bumped on the hindquarters, then bumping a runner to its outside. CRAIGLEA TREACLE – raced greenly throughout the race. Race 4: CANELAND CENTRAL MACKAY TURF GIRL CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1050m DOUBLE EM – Began awkwardly and lost ground. CLIFTON COUNTY – Raced wide for the majority of the race. TEVYE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 5: MACKAY TURF GIRL RACEDAY 27th APRIL QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1050m LEGAL TIES – Back legs slipped on jumping causing the horse to lose considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. GREAT FOX – Slow to begin. STARS DON’T RUST – Slow to begin. FAVOR OF GOD – Shifted in and away from another runner making contact with the inside running rail near the 250m when crowded for room. GOHAN – Shifted in to obtain clear running near the 250m crowding a runner to its inside. Rider A. Thompson was severely reprimanded and advised to be sure he was fully clear of runners when shifting ground. ZLOTO – Raced ungenerously for the majority of the race. Race 6: BOOK FUNCTIONS IN EVENT CENTRE CLASS 3 PLATE 1300m Trainer T Button was fined the sum of $100.00 under LR67 for the late declaration of R Wiggins as the rider of RHYOLA. KANUI – Began awkwardly. EMBERSPEED – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. MAGMELLOU – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Race 7: AMATEUR RACEDAY 25th MAY RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1200m BETA BUTA UP – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer G. Bell, was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding parading manners. ART NOUVEAU – Slow to begin. JUSTALAD – Slow in to stride. NADEEM ESPRIT – Rider J. Stanley was fined the sum of $100 in that he used his whip in an excessive manner prior to the 100m.
