QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MACKAY TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 25 MAY 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD (4) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. GillardStewards – C. Conway Race 1: TAB QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M MISS CLAIR – Declared a late scratching at 11.50am by Stewards acting on veterinary advice after being injured during transit to the course. Trainer G. Green was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance of fitness prior to the horse being permitted to race again. LADY TABETHA – Delayed the start when refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 12.50pm. Trainer J. Manzelmann, was advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the filly before it would be permitted to race again. All monies were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applicable 1st MAVAGIO – 14 cents in the dollar all win bets, 10 cents in the dollar all place bets. 2nd IDLE JACK – 25 cents in the dollar all place bets. 3rd SHE’S WHITTIE – 9 cents in the dollar all place bets. CRAIGLEA RAFFERTY – Began awkwardly and shifted forcing runners to its inside inwards. Shifted in near the 100m brushing the inside running rail. POETIC PETE – Forced inwards at the start by another runner which shifted in. Raced wide early stages. MALVAGIO – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Forced inwards at the start by another runner which shifted in making heavy contact with the runner to its inside. IDLE JACK – Bumped heavily by another runner which was forced inwards at the start and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages. Rider J. Stanley who finished third past the post lodged an objection against SHE’S WHITTIE (P. Cullen) being declared first past the post alleging interference near the 300m. After hearing all of the evidence and viewing of the official race film Stewards were satisfied that SHE’S WHITTIE shifted out abruptly near the 300m forcing IDLE JACK wider which became unbalanced and lost ground. Considering the margins of a Short Neck X Nose Stewards upheld the protest and declared correct weight on: 1st No 1 – MAVAGIO 2nd No 5 – IDLE JACK 3rd No 10 – SHE’S WHITTIE 4th No 4 – BETTER ASK ME SHE’S WHITTIE – Shifted out abruptly near the 300m forcing another runner wider which became unbalanced and lost ground. Rider P. Cullen was reprimanded. Race 2: TAB QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1300M The start was delayed due to the matters out of the previous event. STARS DON’T RUST – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously near the 500m and clipped heels near the 400m of another runner, which was placed in restricted room and blundered. GEORGIE’S DEAL – Slow into stride. Bumped by another runner near the 900m, which shifted in slightly. Raced wide for the majority of the race. CRAIGLEA TREACLE – Laid in despite the efforts of its rider placing another runner in restricted room. Raced wide for the majority of the race. KERFUFFLE – Placed in restricted room near the 400m and was steadied causing another runner to improve onto its heels. KISS ‘N’ WIN – Shifted in near the 900m bumping another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race. CRAIGLEA ARION – Raced wide for the majority of the race. COMBATTANT DE RUE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 3: TAB CLASS 2 PLATE – 1300M SOUND INVESTMENT – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. MICK’S DREAM – Laid out shortly after the start crowding the runner to its outside. Commenced to over-race when crossed by other runners near the 1000m for a short distance. ROCKET OF GOLD – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start for a short distance. MAGITORIAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 4: TAB BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1050M LE CHIFFRE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer T. Bannon was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance of fitness prior to the horse being permitted to race again. MISS RICH – Shifted in at the start bumping another runner. GLOBAL ROCKET – Bumped by another runner which shifted in at the start. DEUS – Slow to begin. Race 5: TAB BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1560M SIR VAN DYKE – Was noted as a gear change when showing as gelded which was incorrect as the horse was gelded before previous starts. This was transmitted via media outlets. Trainer T. Bannon was reprimanded under LR42 (3) and advised to ensure similar information was correct when being publicised. Rider J. Stanley advised Stewards the horse felt awkward in its action in the home straight and did not pressure the gelding over the concluding stages. A post- veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. CAPTAINS WAY – Slow to begin. VEGAS FLYER – Slow to begin. Raced wide for majority of the race and finished tailed off. A post- veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer R. Binder advised Stewards it is now the intention that the gelding be given a short break and be freshened up. THE deck raider – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race. HELLUVA HOFFA – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Race 6: TAB OPEN H’CAP – 1300M BARACHIEL – Delayed the start slightly when took fright in the barriers from another runner which was fractious and broke through the front of the barriers before being quickly restrained and returned to the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Slow to begin. GRAND EMPEROR – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and began awkwardly. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages, and as a result shifted out near the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards. When questioned into the geldings performance rider J. Stanley advised Stewards the slow pace of the race early did not suit the gelding and it raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and when they sprinted leaving the 400m it was unable to sprint under handicapped weight of today’s event and for this reason he did not punish the horse over the concluding stages. A post- veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. CONCA DEL SOGNO – Slow to begin. DEVILS PINCH – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages of the race. GREY MISSILE – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages of the race. Shifted in slightly near the 650m crowding a runner to its inside. DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Crowded for room by another runner near the 650m. Race 7: TAB MACKAY AMATEUR CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1800M I CAN I WILL I AM – Connections advised the gelding would be ridden back in the field today from its wide barrier. This was broadcast via media outlet. Was rode accordingly. MUSTARRID – Was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the start and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly. ARMS RACE – Slow to begin. POETIC HEART – Shifted outwards on jumping tightening runners to outside. MACHO TYCOON – Tightened for room on jumping. SHIRANDA – Tightened for room on jumping. WARWICK AVENUE – Tightened for room on jumping. Blundered near 400m dislodging rider App T. Doyle. TRY ME DOLL – Raced wide for majority of the race. UNION JUKEBOX – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Stewards adjourned an inquiry to a date and time to fixed, into the reason WARWICK AVENUE blundered near the 400m dislodging rider App T.
