Race 1: Kevin’s Kitchen Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
 
BETTER ASK ME – Began awkwardly. Shifted ground outwards rounding the home turn.
 
JILTED GIRL – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
ISA PRINCESS – Shifted out near the 700m, taking another runner wider. Jockey W. D’Villa, rider of ISA PRINCESS, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
LITTLE SID -  Bumped heavily on the hind quarters by another runner rounding the home turn, becoming unbalanced. Inclined to lay in for a short distance thereafter. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
IDLE JACK – Was disappointed when attempting a marginal run approaching the home turn, making heavy contact with the hind quarters of another runner and becoming unbalanced. Had to be shifted from heels near the 150m to obtain clear running.  Jockey J. Stanley was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
NOTORIETY -  Unable to muster early pace. Finished tailed off. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised nominations for the horse to race at TAB meetings would be refused until  form improves by way of country meetings.
 
LITTLE SPOON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.  Was taken wider by another runner, which shifted out near the 700m.  
 
 
Race 2: MM Electrical QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
 
SFILZA – Slowly away. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
GREAT LOOKER – Slowly away. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.
 
GEORGIE’S DEAL – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
PONTEFRACT – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
DALADANE - Bumped by another runner on jumping.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be sore in the near foreleg.
 
JARS – Blundered soon after jumping, causing jockey N. Summers to become unbalanced.
 
KOBY’S STRATEGY – Bumped by another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the race.  
 
JACK ON THE ROCKS – Jockey C. Whitely was cautioned in relation to his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
CAMERON – When questioned into the performance of the gelding, which raced below market expectations, jockey P. Cullen advised that the gelding had been inclined to hang in in the early stages and had failed to respond to his riding from the home turn.  Trainer T. Bannon was of the opinion that the gelding is better suited over longer distances than that of today’s event and also was not yet comfortable racing in a clockwise direction, having done its previous racing in Victoria.
 
Following the running of this race the track rating was upgraded to Good 4.
 
Race 3: Channel Seven Class 4 Handicap - 1300 metres  
 
LAST CHANCE  - Shifted inwards after beginning awkwardly.
 
RAPTCHA’U – Inconvenienced when buffeted between runners shortly after jumping.
 
ZLOTO – Slowly away. Inclined to race ungenerously for some distance in the middle stages. Shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running on straightening when not fully clear of another runner.  Apprentice T. Doyle, rider of ZLOTO, was issued with a severe reprimand under AR131(a).  Trainer P. Fleming was advised that a warning  would be placed on the horse regarding its racing manners.
 
SHE GOES BOOM – Had to be momentarily restrained soon after straightening to avoid the heels of another runner, which shifted out abruptly when not fully clear.
 
Race 4: Smart State Vehicle Rentals Ratings Band 0-60 Handicap - 1800 metres  
 
HEYINGTON –  Was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 2.45 pm after refusing to load. Trainer R. Binder was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Prior to the declarations of correct weight Stewards ordered that all moneys wagered on HEYINGTON be refunded in full and further the following deductions apply to all successful wagers placed prior to 2.45 pm. 1st place 24 cents in the win and 20 cents in the place, 2nd place 15 cents and 3rd place 20 cents on the face value of the betting ticket.
 
HARVEST PRIDE – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
STELLAR KNIGHT – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
IWATANI – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
LE CHIFFRE – The gelding, which was slowly away, attempted to buck for a considerable distance after jumping, losing considerable ground.  Trainer T. Bannon was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.  Trainer T. Bannon was also fined $100 for removing the horse from the designated area prior to the specified time. AR165(3). Post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TEVYE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DEVILS PINCH – Tightened when racing in restricted room approaching the winning post.
 
EL SHADAY – Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race. Post race vet examination revealed the Gelding to have minor back soreness.
 
Race 5: Mackay Turf Girl Sat 28th April Class 3 Plate - 1050 metres
 
KALANGADOO CHROME – Slowly into stride. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Shifted in near the 650m when not fully clear, inconveniencing another runner.  Apprentice A. Thompson was severely reprimanded for careless riding under AR131(a)
 
NO EFFORT NEEDED – Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Had to be restrained near the 650m when crossed by another runner, which shifted in when not fully clear.
 
I’M ROSIE – Had to be restrained off heels near the 650m. Shifted ground when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 6: Payne Print Open Handicap- 1050 metres
 
GUSSOLA – Jumped away awkwardly, causing jockey L. Tilley to become unbalanced.
 
GOLDEN MANE – Slowly into stride.
 
FASTNET FLYER – Slowly into stride.
 
 Approaching the 350m, when tiring CASTA was tightened for room between GUISSOLA, which shifted out around heels to obtain clear running, and TRERICE, which was inclined to hang in rounding the home turn. As a result, CASTA lost further ground and GUISSOLA and TRERICE, which was continuing to hang in, raced tight for some distance into the home straight, bumping on several occasions with both horses becoming unbalanced.  As stewards could not attribute responsibility to any particular rider, this was reported as a racing incident.
 
Race 7: Join MTC 100 Club Ratings Band 0-60 Handicap- 1200 metres
 
AMRON – Slowly into stride.
 
PURRHAPS – Proved difficult to load. Raced wide for the majority of the race.  Trainer A. Cameron was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
TARTUFO BIANCO – Inclined to overrace in the middle stages. Raced wide for the  majority of the race.
 
SOUTHERN SPECIAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
INSOLVENT - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SEIZED -  Apprentice M. Nakao advised that the gelding, which raced below market expectations, after being caught 3 wide for the majority of the race did not travel well at any stage. A post race veterinary examination  revealed no abnormalities.
