Conway Race 1: MATTHEW STILES NEW & USED CAR SALES BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1560M EXTREME WITNESS – Trainer R. Vale was fined $100 under LR67(1) for failing to declare R. Stewart as rider by the prescribed time. OPTION – Slowly away. PURE REBEL – Jockey C. Whiteley advised that the gelding, which raced below market expectations, had raced flat today. Trainer Mr W. Kenning advised that he will monitor the horse’s progress in coming days and if necessary consideration will be given to sending the gelding for a spell. PROANE – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly, losing considerable ground. Held up momentarily for clear running soon after entering the home straight. SIR VAN DYKE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Caught wide before improving to a position outside the leader near the 1200m. Race 2: AIRLESS SPRAY SERVICE MAIDEN H'CAP – 1560M DEEJAYBEAT was a late scratching at 2:35 pm on veterinary advice after being inspected behind the barriers and found to be lame in the near foreleg. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on DEEJAYBEAT be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 2:35 pm: 24 cents in the dollar for the win #420 cents in the dollar for place of winner #421 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #618 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #3 Trainer Ms O. Cairns was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again. TICKET KEEPER – Apprentice M. Murphy reported that the gelding had hung in for the majority of the event. STARS DON’T RUST – Overraced in the early stages. Jockey S. Watkin reported that the gelding raced greenly for the majority of the event. FEATHER YOUR NEST – Slowly away. BOLD ENCHANTMENT – Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly and bumping with another runner. Hard ridden from the 800m. Tired over the concluding stages. CAMBOOMYA – Laid in near the 1000m, bumping with another runner. CHANDON KISSES – Inconvenienced when bumped by another runner near the 1000m. MIGHTY MEERKAT – Apprentice T. Doyle replaced S. Wiseman, who was to be overweight. Jockey Wiseman was reprimanded under AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey S. Wiseman’s exemplary record in relation to the rule. Stewards inquired into the reason why MIGHTY MEERKAT (T. Doyle) and LONROADTOFLY (C. Whiteley) started from the incorrect barriers. After interviewing both jockeys and starter Mr P. Conway, stewards admonished starter Mr Conway and advised him to review his practices to ensure that all horses are directed to the correct barrier. Jockey C. Whiteley and apprentice T. Doyle were severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR198 and advised they must ensure that their horses start from the correct barrier. In determining penalty, stewards took into account the extenuating circumstances. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards reviewed the patrol footage of the race and were satisfied that this incident had had no material bearing on the placings of either horse. Race 3: TAB CLASS 6 PLATE – 1300M HELLUVA HOFFA – Slowly away. Momentarily held up soon after straightening. Laid in under pressure near the 100m. RED HOT ROMEO – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Inclined to overrace for some distance in the middle stages. HEYINGTON – Difficult to load, delaying the start. Trainer Ms R. Binder was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain one further barrier certificate before being permitted to again start in a race. Slowly away. Overraced in the early stages. JETS CRACKER – Knuckled over on jumping. Shifted out near the 250m, inconveniencing another runner. Jockey L. Tilley was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. CRAFTY COP – Was inconvenienced near the 250m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 4: LEKETEK QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1100M LADY YENDOR – Shifted in, bumping with another runner on jumping. CRIME BOSS – Jumped out at the start. Inclined to hang out near the 1000m, bumping with another runner. Shifted in near the 800m, inconveniencing another runner. ROCKY POET – Shifted in on jumping, tightening runners to its inside. Became unbalanced when hampered near the 1000m by another runner which was laying out. BOSS BABY – Tightened between runners on jumping. Hung out near the 750m, having to be restrained. Apprentice T. Doyle advised that the filly had raced greenly for the majority of the event. BLUEY’S READY – Tightened between runners soon after the start, losing ground. MALVAGIO – Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide for the majority of the event. TEDDER EXPRESS – Difficult to load. Trainer Mr C. Taylor was advised that a warning will be placed on the filly’s barrier manners. VAMPARINA – Laid in near the 800m, having to be restrained. Race 5: NQ WATER OPEN H'CAP – 1100M ALLROUND GLORY – Laid in for a short distance approaching the 1000m, crowding runners to its inside. Tired over the concluding stages. Apprentice T. Doyle advised that in his opinion today’s heavy impost of 61kg was a telling factor in the horse’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. JACK LANCASTER – Crowded for room approaching the 1000m. BRACTEATE – Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Crowded for room approaching the 1000m. LAMERICAN – Bumped with another runner soon after the start. SWEET SURPRISE – Crowded for room approaching the 1000m. Race 6: MOJO’S CLASS 2 PLATE – 1100M INSOLVENT – Raced wide for the majority of the event. ANCIENT AZTEC – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Hampered another runner soon after the start when racing ungenerously. AUTHENTIC SWING – Raced wide in the early and middle stages after being slowly away. TELL EVERYBODY – Began awkwardly, making heavy contact with the inside barrier gate, becoming unbalanced. Bumped with another runner soon after the start. Overraced in the early and middle stages. SANDY TOWN – Was ridden vigorously in the early stages to obtain the lead when caught wide. Inclined to shift ground when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 7: CASU JACKS BENCHMARK 60 H'CAP – 1300M FERINGO – Slowly away. HARVEST PRIDE – Slowly away. Jockey L.
