GENERAL
 
Rockhampton 17th July 2020 – Race 4.
Jockey A Sewell was reprimanded under AR131(a) for allowing his mount ALL PICKLED to shift in when insufficiently clear of CHEVY NOVA.
 
 
Race 1: SMART STATE RENTALS Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
Flag Raiser - Laid in under pressure in the straight. Held up for clear running approaching the 200m and had to shift in to improve into clear running.
 
Shezashootingstar – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Starsonic – Overraced in the early stages in the event.
 
Flying Blonde – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Murtallica – Approaching the 100m was momentarily inconvenienced by STARSONIC which shift out under pressure. Jockey J Stanley, rider of STARSONIC, was reprimanded AR131(a). Rider P Romeo was reprimanded for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, being one more than permissible under the rule.
 
Norwegian Wood – Permission was granted for S Sheargold to ride 1kg overweight due to no available rider. S Sheargold was fined $500 under AR190(3).
 
Cider Apple – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve. Approaching the 150m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of STARSONIC, shortly thereafter became awkwardly placed on the heels of HERSHISER and couldn’t be fully tested in the run to the finish. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
 
Knight Fight – Raced wide throughout.
 
Miz Macey – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 2: BLUE RIVER LANDSCAPE SUPPLIES QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
Arrogant Heart – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Tropics – Approaching the 600m was momentarily inconvenienced after the pace of the race slackened. Overraced in the early stages.
 
Cracker Essgee – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m became awkwardly placed on heels and had to shift wider to improve into clear running. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Emilee's Empire – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 600m was momentarily inconvenienced after the pace of the race slackened. Hung in under pressure in the straight placing its rider at a disadvantage over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainers representative Ms C. Dore was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the filly.
 
Palate – Hampered on jumping away by RUSSIAN WEAPON which shifted out abruptly.
 
Para Park – Approaching the 600m was momentarily inconvenienced after the pace of the race slackened. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey A Butler stated that from the wide barrier was forced to settle further back then anticipated. He added that his mount was inconvenienced approaching the 600m and from that point failed to respond to his riding and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. Trainer J Wigginton stated that PARA PARK had pleased in its work leading into todays event and could offer no explanation but advised he would report back on the condition of PARA PARK in the coming days. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Russian Weapon – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly contacting PALATE.
 
Alotta Attitude – Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.
 
Legal Chance – Overraced in the early stages. Became awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 700m after the pace of the race slackened.
 
 
Race 3: EASYLOC BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1050 metres
 
Hayyler's Illusion– Underwent a prerace veterinary examination after being fractious in the barriers and was passed fit to start. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer R Williams was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to a future race start. Trainer R Williams advised that the mare would now be retired.
 
Great Fox– Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Lord Laurie– Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Magic Cody– Knuckled on jumping away and as a result was slow into stride.
 
Nick's Night Out– A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Not Tonight Dear– When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer J Heelan stated that even though he was surprised by todays result, the mare had pleased in its work following its disappointing performance last start. He added that after drawing a better barrier, was able to settle further forward on the speed.  Jockey J Felix was fined $500 under AR211(2) for returning to scale more than half a kilogram overweight.
 
Race 4: MODURE CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1050 metres
 
Such A Whit – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past 7 days and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Approaching the 400m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of COLD POWER.
 
Jack Derippa – Raced wide throughout.
 
Mount Costa – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Cold Power – Slow to begin. On entering the home straight became awkwardly placed on heels and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
Harry Rocket - Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past 7 days and was passed fit to start.
 
Aleysa's Miracle – Raced wide throughout.
 
Bullet Lad – Stewards permitted S Wiseman to replace S Sheargold who was unable to make the weight. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 5: MACKAY GAMING SERVICES BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1560 metres
 
Don't Doubt Lara – Raced fierce throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Quidni - Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past 7 days and was passed fit to start.
 
Lefkas Island – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Favor of God – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
The Abyss (NZ) – Overraced throughout the event.
 
Race 6: LEKETEK RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1560 metres
 
Drumshow – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 200m was able to improve into a narrow run between SHAKA DIAMOND and GOOD CATCH.
 
Justalad – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of SHAKA DIAMOND.
 
Plain 'n' Simple – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer J Lancaster was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to a future race start. Trainer J Lancaster advised the gelding would now be retired.
 
Steady Star (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
Battle – Slow to begin.
 
Reef Master (NZ) – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
The Deckeraider – Slow to begin.
