BALNAGAL – Began awkwardly.

ENRAGED – Passing the 1300m, when racing in a rearward position, resented being restrained and threw its head in the air on a number of occasions.

Race 2: RACQ CQ RESCUE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1300m

SHE’S IMPERIAL – Crowded for room passing the 200m, by PLENTY OF TICKER which laid in slightly and as a result, became awkwardly placed on the heels of ARTEMIS GIRL and had to be steadied. Approaching the 250m, got his whip entangled with the nearside rein.

ARTEMIS GIRL– Momentarily held up passing the 300m.

SHE’S OUR EMPRESS – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Held up rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Rider A Butler reported that his mount never travelled throughout the event and failed to respond to his urgings when asked for an effort. Trainer R Vale reported that he could offer no excuse for the poor performance but added that it is the first time he has travelled with the filly and she may not have handled the trip. He further added that he would now get bloods sent for analysis and report back to the stewards the results in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

MARINASARA – Slow to begin, bumped shortly after and lost ground. Rider B Appo reported that he broke his whip during the event.

REAL ANA– Laid out rounding passing the 500m and raced in restricted room for a short distance.

DREAM OF DUBAI – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before striding forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 800m.

PLENTY OF TICKER– Crowded for room on jumping and lost ground. After being in a rearward trailing position, approaching the 900m, shifted three wide to improve and raced wide without cover from that point. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Rider C Collis had his whip accidently knocked out of his hand by the rider of SHE’S IMPERIAL near the 250m.

STRUMAN – Held up rounding the home turn.

ROCKETHEAD – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion medial to the left ear.

MYZABOOM – Approaching the 1000m, commenced to race keenly and had to be shifted out away from the heels of ROCKETTE ROCKET.

Race 4: CORAL COAST SHIELD QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap 1050m

LANGHRO – Rider A Butler reported it was his intention to be in a more forward position, however after beginning caught wide from the wide barrier, was unable to clear runners to his inside and elected to restrain in an attempt to find a position with cover. However, after passing the 700m was unable to do so and raced three wide without cover throughout.

ALLROUND GLORY – Laid in under pressure passing the 200m.

FRATELLINO – Near the 800m, had to be eased when crowded for room for a short distance. Near the 150m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of ALLROUND GLORY before shifting to the inside to obtain clear running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed FRATELLINO to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer T Simmons was advised that FRATELLINO would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and would be required to gallop over 1000m in a presence of a steward prior to being permitted to trial or race, pursuant to AR79(4).
