Stewards inquired into the reason both ROCK ‘N’ SOL (A Butler) and KING KAI (App C Collis) had to be checked near the 1400m turn. After hearing evidence from the 2 aforementioned riders as well as Jockeys T Bannon (TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ)), B Pengelly (CLEO’S POET) and App M Potgieter (TRACKMAN (NZ)) and viewing patrol footage of the incident it was established that at that point of the race TRACKMAN (NZ) had improved to the outside of CLEO’S POET shifting in marginally, before being quickly corrected. As a result CLEO’S POET shifted in taking TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) in onto the running of ROCK ‘N’ SOL and KING KAI both of which were already racing in restricted room, as the tightening occurred at that point of the track where the field reaches the inside running rail on the course proper after leaving the 1560m chute.
