Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1800 metres

SHUDA KNOWN BETTER – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start.

RUFFIN' IT (NZ) – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout the event. Hampered on entering the home straight when racing in restricted room between AREE AL (NZ) who improved to a run to the inside and BON RUBY who laid in marginally. Contacted on a number of occasions from the vicinity of the 300m to approaching the 200m.

CIDER APPLE – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed gelding had bled from both nostrils for the second occasion and as such would be banned from racing.

Race 2: MACKAY TURF CLUB, MORE THAN JUST A RACECOURSE QTIS Three-Year-Old Hand 1200 metres

CRACKER ESSGEE – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides and had to be steadied passing the 800m to avoid the heels of STARFILLY which shifted in while overracing. Jockey A Sewell, rider of STARFILLY, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.

STARFILLY – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

IMALI – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

IN MEMORY OFA MATE – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey N Thomas stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of IN MEMORY OFA MATE in relation to the gelding’s competitiveness.

Race 3: SKY RACING Class 3 Handicap 1100 metres

ZIPSPUR – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

BILL 'N' TED – Was declared a late scratching at 2.53pm after being fractious in the barriers. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 2.53pm as following:
Win Bets Trump Me - 3 cents
Place Bets (For Winner) 6 cents
Place Bets (For 2nd) Cabalo Escuro - 6 cents
All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.
Trainer N Seymour was advised that BILL ‘N’ TED would be required to gain a further barrier certificate prior to accepting for a future race.
CARDINET – A post race veterinary examination reveal cardiac arrythmia. Trainer J Manzelmann reported that the mare would now be retired. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that should CARDINET return to racing he would be required to forward the results of a electrocardiogram (ECG) prior to passing an official barrier trial.

GOLDIE'S ARCHER – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.

Following the running of this event A Sewell was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.

Race 4: NEXT RACE DAY SATURDAY 20TH MARCH Class 6 Plate
1300 metres

QUIDNI – Rider M Haley was reprimanded under AR132(5) for using his whip on 16 occasions in total.

SUCH A WHIT – Laid out throughout the event.

VERBALIZER (NZ) – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

ATTIQUE – Prior to the start being affected, broke through the barrier partition and galloped a short distance. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

DOUBLE EM – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Following the running of this event Apprentice Potgieter was stood down from his remaining engagements. Replacements were made as per the stewards summary.

Race 5: BOOK YOUR NEXT EVENT WITH MACKAY TURF CLUB Maiden Plate 1300 metres

ENRAGED – Approaching the 900m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of CHEYENNE BEACH. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

NOT A SINGLE DAY – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of ENRAGED who had to be restrained after improving onto heels. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

MOTHERLODE – Apprentice M Wishart was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.

Race 6: CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY TODAY OPEN Handicap 1560 metres

MASON'S CHANCE – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Passing the 300m was disappointed for a run to the inside of ABSOLUT ARTIE and was not able to obtain clear running to inside the 100m.

DORDOGNE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

ELLE A WALKING – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200m and had to shift wider on the track inside the 100m to improve.

COMBATTANT DE RUE – Reared as the start was affected and as a result was slow to begin.

Race 7: YELLOW PAGES ONLINE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap
1200 metres

MORE THAN LUCK – Raced wide throughout the event. When questioned in relation to the performance of the gelding, Jockey R Wiggins stated that after being trapped wide throughout the event, his mount failed to respond to his riding on entering the home straight and weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ROADHOUSE – When question in relation to the performance to the gelding, Jockey A Butler stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding throughout the event and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. Trainer O Cairns reported ROADHOUSE will be spelled. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ROCK 'N' SOL - Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

WOTSIZNAME – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

STARSONIC – Lost its near fore plate during the preliminary and after attempting replating the farrier was unable to reshod the gelding, permission was granted to Trainer/ Jockey T Bannon to allow STARSONIC to race without its near fore plate. Under went a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

SHE'S MAGANDA Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

WREN PLUCKED – Held up for clear running passing the 100m and had to shift wider over the concluding stages to improve into clear running.

TICKET KEEPER – Dislodged rider enroute to the barriers and galloped a short distance before being recaptured. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Jockey A Sewell was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and was passed fit to fulfil his engagement.
