Conway Race 1: 100 CLUB Maiden Handicap 1560 metres UNDER THE PUMP – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. ENRAGED – Overraced in the early and middle stages. MISHANI PATRIOT – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. NOT A SINGLE DAY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the running rail enroute to the barriers and was passed fit to start. Raced three wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to take up a position outside the lead approaching the 1000m. SNEAKY GAL – When questioned in relation to the performance of the mare, Jockey A Sewell could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 2: HAPPY 21ST KAITLYN CORNELL Class 3 Handicap 1560 metres AREE AL (NZ) – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 100m was disappointed for a run to the inside of HEMSTED and became awkward in its stride for a number of strides. Race 3: CBG PARTNERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap1100 metres OLLIE'S STAND – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. OUR GIRL JACQUIE – Rider reported that his mount failed to travel at any stage of the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. REFUTATION – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. IT'S A PEARLER – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. PALATE – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. SAHARA SALLY –Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight. READY BETTY – Raced wide throughout the event. PLENTY OF TICKER – Approaching the 600m raced in restricted room to the inside of IT’S A PEARLER which was overracing. Rider C. Jokic plead guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out over the final stride of the race and was fined $500. Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a soft 5 retrospective to race 3. Race 4: CELEBRATING JORDYN SUTTON'S BIRTHDAY Class 6 Handicap 1200 metres DISCO MO – Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Passing the 300m shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and contacted SUCH A WHIT, resulting in DISCO MO becoming awkward in its stride. VERBALIZER (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. SUCH A WHIT – Hampered on entering the home straight by DISCO MO which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. HIDDEN GODDESS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer T Cook was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race start or trial. MARNDARRA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race start or trial. Race 5: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres Correct weight for this event was delayed to allow Stewards to inquire into the circumstances that resulted in BATTLE and KAHUNA jumping from the wrong barriers. Stewards considered evidence from the Starter, Jockey C. Spry, Jockey S. Sheargold, Mr N. Seymour, the trainer of KAHUNA and Mr A. Cameron, the trainer of BATTLE. Stewards were able to determine that a clerical error had been made by the Starter resulting in the two horses being called into the wrong barriers. After hearing submissions, stewards acting under the provisions of AR198(2)(c) declared BATTLE to be a non-starter after it was deemed that the gelding was disadvantaged by being loaded into the outside barrier. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters as following: Win Bets Wren Plucked - 1 centsPlace Bets (For Winner) 4 centsPlace Bets (For 2nd) Hilflager - 3 centsPlace Bets (For 3rd) Ziedrich - 4 centsJockeys C. Spy and S. Sheargold were reprimanded under the provisions of AR198(1).CABALO ESCURO – Reared as the start was affected and as a result jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Raced in restricted room passing the 200m for a number of strides and was not able to obtain clear running until inside the 100m. KAHUNA – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight. STARSONIC – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. CLIFTON COUNTY - Overraced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 900m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of ZIEDRICH, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey A Butler, rider of ZIEDRICH, was reminded of his obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future. WREN PLUCKED – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift out to improve into clear running. Race 6: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MITCHELL BUGEJA BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1300 metres ACADEMY HILL – Approaching the 900m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MONSTER OF POWER and NAILED IT NAN both who shifted ground when insufficiently clear. Jockeys W. D’Avila and J. Stanley, riders of MONSTER OF POWER and NAILED IT, were both reminded of their obligations to be clear when shifting ground. MONSTER OF POWER – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight till inside the 200m. HOLLYWOOD DREAMING – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift out to improve into clear running. PRINCE OF VENICE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. BETTER DAYS AHEAD –Raced wide without cover.
