Jockey Thomas advised that he was endeavouring to maintain momentum whilst searching for clear running in the home straight and after shifting out from behind SAHARA SALLY when a run presented at the 250m the filly was reluctant to improve between horses and as the run was commencing to narrow elected to shift in and attempted to improve between SAHARA SALLY and the inside running rail until that runner shifted in under pressure and he was obliged to steady and shift out. STARSONIC- Momentarily hampered by the riderless horse approaching the winning post. COLLOMBATTI- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to ascertain the reason/s STRUMAN was riderless upon exiting the barriers. Therefore Stewards, acting under the provisions of AR204, declared STRUMAN a non-runner and ordered all bets on the gelding to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers: 10 cents in the dollar for the win 10 cents in the dollar for the place At a subsequent inquiry App A Thomson pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR228 in that he did misconduct himself by addressing staff at the barriers in an inappropriate manner and did use profane language in a manner audible to the public in the mounting yard area.
