GENERAL

Jockey A Butler was injured at trackwork on the morning of the races and unable to attend with his replacements as per the Stewards race day summary. Mr Butler was advised that he would be required to provide a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.

As Jockeys C Whiteley, N Thomas and Apprentice W Peel were indisposed due to transport difficulties they were replaced on their respective mounts as per the summary.

Jockey L Tilley was unable to ride at todays meeting as he was stood down pending an inquiry at a date and time to be set.

Trainer A Cameron suffered transport difficulties and his three runners were all late scratchings at 8.45am as per the Stewards race day summary.

The following riders were permitted to ride their mounts at the listed amended weights due to the current covid-19 restrictions.
Race 4: R Wiggins – ALEYSA’S DREAM - +.5 – 56.5kg
Race 4: A Sewell – MISHANI DREAMER - + .5 – 54.5kg
Race 6: A Sewell – MASON’S CHANCE - +.5 – 54.5kg


Race 1: SMARTSTATE RENTALS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1800 metres

DIXIE PREACHER – Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner.

NOIR JACK – Bumped by a runner to the inside on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.

UNIQUE JOURNEY – Shifted wider on the home turn. Apprentice M Philpot dropped her whip approaching the winning post.


Race 2: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 2ND NOVEMBER Class 3 Plate 1560 metres

Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey R Wiggins to view the film to ascertain whether he was afforded a fair start. Jockey Wiggins elected not to proceed with any action and correct weight was subsequently declared on the Judge’s numbers.

MATADOR – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Shifted out on the home turn carrying another runner wider. Inclined to lay in on the home straight.

WATCH LIST (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Commenced to over race through the early and middle stages.

BULLET LAD – Raced keenly in the early stages.

STOLEN DIAMONDS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey W D’Avila became concerned with the action of the gelding over the concluding stages and as such he elected not to pressure the gelding over the concluding stages. A postrace veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame with a veterinary clearance required.

SHIRAISHI – Shifted in under pressure on the home straight.


Race 3: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1050 metres

GRACIOUS GARCON – Slowly into stride.

AVOCADO SUNSET –Inclined to lay out in the home straight.

FRATELLINO – Jockey D Simmons was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted.


Race 4: EASYLOC QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metre

ALEYSA'S QUEEN – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to the outside. Jockey R Wiggins reported that the filly raced greenly throughout and had difficulty in making the turns.

STRIKING ROCKET – Was bumped by a runner to the inside on jumping and as a result contacted a runner to the outside.

SHE’S OUT THERE – Inconvenienced by a runner to the inside on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stage placing apprentice rider C Collis in difficulty. Raced greenly throughout.

FERENZO – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to the outside. Shifted off heels near the 400m when becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of SHE’S OUT THERE. Momentarily held up approaching the home turn.

MILKY ROCKET – Was bumped by a runner to the inside on jumping. Made the home turn awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

DREW’S DUBLE – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.

ONE LAST TIME – Shifted in on jumping bumping with a runner to the inside. Struck the inside running rail near the 300m when attempting to improve to the inside of another runner. Commenced to race greenly on the home straight brushing with the running rail.

JACK’S ECHO – Was bumped by a runner to the outside on jumping subsequently becoming unbalanced and making heavy contact with that same runner outside. Steadied passing the 700m when awkwardly placed onto the heels of another runner.

READY BY MIDNIGHT – Bumped by a runner to the inside on jumping. Inclined to lay in on the home straight. Raced wide throughout.

COCHRANE – Jockey D Simmons reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout and had difficulty in making the turns.

MISHANI DREAMER – Began awkwardly. Steadied and became unbalanced when racing in restricted room near the 400m. Stewards inquired into the reasons why MISHANI DREAMER was placed in restricted room. After taking evidence from all relevant parties Stewards were satisfied it was caused by numerous horses racing greenly and that no rider was at fault and as such no action was taken.



Race 5: CHAMPION C STUD & EQUESTRIAN CENTRE Maiden Handicap 1200 metres

FASHION GURU – Slowly away.

BIRD'S NEST – Buffeted between runners shortly after jumping.

BYTACT – Shifted in on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.

KATEY GIRL – Raced wide in the early stages.

PRUNING – Raced wide for the majority.

PERIODIGAL – Awkwardly placed onto the heels of another runner near the 800m.

CHATILLY – Laid outwards in the home straight.

MIND GAME – Inclined to lay in on the home straight.

SCHATZI – Laid out on the home turn. Raced greenly in the home straight.

ZOFFDACHARTS – Stewards permitted Jockey D Simmons to ride the mare 1.5kg over its allocated weight due to no other rider being available. D Simmons reported that the mare felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A postrace veterinary examination revealed the mare had tied up.



Race 6: R & T PUMPS OPEN Handicap 1200 metres

MORENO (NZ) – Apprentice A Donald was fined the sum of $500 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m three more than permitted. 5th offence.

NORTH AFRIKA – Placed in restricted room for a short distance near the 850m when a runner to the outside commenced to lay in.

PRINCESS RULES – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in near the 850m with Apprentice C Collis spoken too advisedly by the Stewards.

OUR BOY PENDLES – Fractious in the barrier. Slowly away.

SUCH A WHIT – Inclined to lay out in the early stages.



Race 7: SF PRODUCE MACKAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1100 metre

CAT IN THE RAINE – Trainer D Amos advised Stewards a change of tactics in that it was his intention for the mare to ridden in a forward manner. CAT IN THE RAINE was ridden accordingly to the tactics advised. Raced wide for the majority.

SASANQUAS – Jockey N Day was dislodged on route to the barriers. Subsequently Jockey Day was assessed by QAS officers and declared fit to continue. Fractious in the barrier. Buffeted between runners on jumping. Disappointed for clear running for the majority of the home straight and as a result was unable to be fully tested.

WOTSIZNAME – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to the outside.

BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Was bumped by a runner to the inside which shifted out on jumping.

ZEBLAN – Began awkwardly contacting the inside of the barrier partition.

SHE’S MAGANDA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.

DJEBEL READY – Shifted out sharply after jumping.

CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN – Near the 600m was forced to take hold when a runner to the outside shifted in when insufficiently clear.

CHEYENNE BEACH – Apprentice A Donald was reprimanded under the provisions of AR184(b)(iii) in that after weighing she sent her saddle without stirrup irons. Near the 600m shifted in when insufficiently clear which resulted in CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN (W D’Avila) having to take hold and lose its rightful running. Apprentice A Donald pled guilty to a careless riding charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that she directed her mount to a position closer to the inside rail when insufficiently clear of CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN. Apprentice Donald’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days commencing midnight 23 October 2021 up to midnight 30 October 2021. In assessing penalty Stewards considered Apprentice Donald’s guilty plea, her good record in relation to the rule and her relative inexperience.

STORMWATER – Underwent a postrace veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.


Race 8: WHITSUNDAY WEALTH BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1300 metres

Prior to the start of Race 8 Apprentice T Fenlon rider of RUFFIN’ IT (NZ) and Jockey C Eaton rider of BILL ‘N’ TED were loaded into the incorrect barriers. Starter Mr J Cullen corrected the error prior to the start being affected. Subsequently Apprentice Fenlon and Jockey Eaton were reminded of their obligation to ensure that they are loaded into the correct barrier under the provisions of AR198(1).

HIFLAGER – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to the outside.

I AM CLEVER – Was bumped on jumping when a runner to the inside shifted out. Held up from the 200m.

GRACEFUL ZARIFA – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when unable to muster pace and a runner to the inside improved. Held up for the majority of the home straight.

SEQUABLUR – Raced wide throughout.

SCENT OF FEAR - Raced wide throughout.

SPRINGTHORPE - Raced wide in the middle stages.

SABOR – Laid in over the concluding stages.

Stewards intend to inquire into an incident which took place in the weighing room following the running of race eight.
