A Butler did not attend this meeting due to personal reasons and was replaced on his ride as per the steward’s summary. R McMahon did not attend this meeting due to personal reasons and was replaced on his ride as per the steward’s summary. Race 1: SKY RACING Maiden Plate 1200 metres CAMO'S DREAM – Approaching the 1000m, had to be steadied to avoid heels. Commenced to weaken from the 400m, taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. SUNTAN (NZ) – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Slow to begin. YUFCALLEDCHARLIE – Raced wide in the early stages. CODY ALTEM – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. LITTLE IVY – Tightened for room shortly after jumping and as a result lost ground. WONDERFUL THOUGHT – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Three-Year-Old MaidenHandicap 1300 metres COCHRANE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice Jockey Jade Doolan was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. In determining penalty, stewards took into accounts this was Apprentice Jockey Doolan’s first offence. WELL CHARRED – Raced three-wide in the early stages, before obtaining a leading position passing the 800m. RUNINSCARED – Slow to begin. SMOKING STEP – Commenced to buck shortly after the start. Trainer Tom Smith was advised that SMOKING STEP would require an official trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to resuming racing. MISHANI DREAMER – Slow to begin. Race 3: SMARTSTATE RENTALS Class 6 Handicap 1300 metres PLANET WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide without cover throughout the event. NAILED IT NAN – Raced wide in the early stages. Inclined to hang out in the early and middle stages. Upon returning to scale, Jockey Ryan Wiggins reported that his mount lost its near-fore plate in running, and as a result felt that the horse was awkward in its action in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed to have abrasions to the near-fore heel. SCHAPPOSE (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. WIDESPREAD – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Race 4: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS BENCHMARK 55Handicap 1560 metres Prior to the running of race 4, the track was downgraded to a Soft 6 retrospective and to include Race 3. The declaration of correct weight was delayed following the running of race 4 to allow the Stewards, the Judge, Apprentice Jockey Marnu Potgeiter and Jockey Chelsea Jokic to view the photo finish image following the decision of a dead heat between runners RUFFIN IT (NZ) and ODDFELLOW (NZ). After consultation with all parties, Stewards were not comfortably satisfied with the judge’s decision of a dead heat, and subsequently amended the results and correct weight was declared on the numbers as follows: 1ST – RUFFIN IT (NZ)2ND – ODDFELLOW (NZ)3RD – TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) 4TH – AUSSIE TYCOON SCENT OF FEAR – Raced three-wide without cover throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. RIVER TYCOON – Raced keenly throughout the middle stages, bumping with SCENT OF FEAR approaching the 900m. AUSSIE TYCOON – Slow to begin. Race 5: BECOME A MEMBER OF MTC OPEN Handicap 1050 metres MORENO (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. CABALO ESCURO – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with the outside barrier petition. SUCH A WHIT – Jumped away awkwardly. Shifted in passing the 100m to avoid the heels of MORENO (NZ) which laid in despite the efforts of its rider. Race 6: BOOK FOR AMATEUR CUP MEETING SATURDAY 28TH MAYClass 1 Handicap 1050 metres RED PERONI – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. FREE DAWN – Raced wide throughout the event. DON'T WHISPER – Raced wide throughout the event. Jockey Leeanne McCoy was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. In determining penalty, stewards took into account this was Jockey McCoy’s 3rd breach in the previous 12 months. HARD CURRENCY – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. MIND GAME – Raced wide throughout the event. Race 7: RACING AGAIN SATURDAY 26TH FEBRUARY Class 3Handicap 1200 metres WILD WIND – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. KEFALONIA – Jumped away awkwardly. MAN O' ROSS – Jumped away awkwardly, bumping with SHARINDI. ALEYSA'S QUEEN – Upon returning to scale, Apprentice Jockey Marnu Potgeiter advised that in his opinion, the step up in distance and the track conditions may have contributed towards ALEYSA’S QUEEN’S poor performance in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. SHARINDI – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with MAN O’ ROSS and as a result the rider become unbalanced, being dislodged. Following the running of the race, Jockey Chris Whiteley was assessed by the QAS. Jockey Whiteley was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to returning to race riding.
