Trainer T Cook was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to returning to racing. BRAINS – Began awkwardly. NECESSITAS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly throughout. Improved onto heels at the 1500m and was forced to steady. Raced in restricted room near the 1450m. Inclined to hang out for a short distance. Leaving the 1050m, was placed in restricted room, clipped heels and lost ground when SCHAPPOSE shifted in. Jockey A. Butler (the rider of SCHAPPOSE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that at a point leaving the 1050m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear, resulting in NECESSITAS being tightened for room, clipping heels and losing ground. Jockey Butler’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 18/4/2022 and to conclude midnight 27/4/2022. Race 2: BOOK FUNCTIONS AT THE MTC Maiden Handicap 1050 metresThe start was delayed when VIMANA reared over when being loaded into its barrier subsequently dislodging its rider. A pre-race veterinary examination passed the mare fit to start. Jockey Fawke underwent an assessment by the Queensland Ambulance Service and was passed fit to take his engagement. Trainer S. Geritz was advised the mare would be required to complete a satisfactory barrier trial prior to returning to racing. BLACKSHAW – Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start after being bumped by MISHANI PATRIOT. VIMANA – Made the bend awkwardly near the 600m. MISS PIPER – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. DIVINE WIT – Fractious in barrier. Raced greenly throughout. Trainer M. Geaney was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. Improved onto heels and steadied near the 400m. SADLER'S MISS – Slow to begin. MISHANI PATRIOT – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly while being restrained near the 600m. MISS CONFIDANTE – Became awkward in its in action after passing the winning post and as a result dislodged its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities Apprentice M. Philpot was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service and was subsequently cleared fulfil the remainder of her engagements. Race 3: BOOK FOR AMATEURS SAT 28TH MAY Class 4 Handicap 1100 metresSHADOW GODDESS – Began awkwardly. ZIPSPUR – Slow into stride.PATROLLING – Raced keenly throughout the middle stages. Laid in when paced under pressure in the early part of the home straight. SONIC ARROW – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Race 4: BECOME A MEMBER OF THE MTC QTIS Three-Year-OldHandicap 1100 metresAHOOSHU – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Bumped by LENNY ROCKET near the 600m. PARKBURN – Began awkwardly forcing runners to the outside wider. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of the trainer revealed a corn on the inside near fore heel. UNDER THE DUNES – Bumped and forced wider by TARGET THE STARS shortly after the start. BOOM TIME BABY – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Over raced in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out over the concluding stages. LENNY ROCKET – Shifted out at the 600m making contact with AHOOSHU. Laid in from the 500m. PRIDE AN' JOY – Slow to begin. TARGET THE STARS – Forced wider on jumping contacting UNDER THE DUNES. Race 5: SMARTSTATE RENTALS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1100 metresYOU CHOOSE – Raced three wide for the majority of the race. Laid in from the 500m. MOUNT DUMARESQ – Fractious in barrier. Bumped by SASANQUAS shortly after the start. CHEYENNE BEACH – Blundered on jumping. Laid inwards approaching the 600m.AWESOME POWER – Due to not racing within the previous 12 months was subject of a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to race. Began awkwardly. Laid outwards on the bend approaching the 600m. Stewards enquired into the incident near the 600m where AWESOME POWER (S Fawke) was steadied when racing to the inside of CHEYENNE BEACH (C Spry). After taking evidence from both riders and viewing the replays the Stewards were satisfied both runners had contributed to the incident where AWESOME POWER laid outwards and CHEYENNE BEACH had laid inwards marginally simultaneously and neither rider was responsible. HERSHISER – Bean awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. SASANQUAS – Tightened for room on jumping. MONSTER OF POWER – Raced keen in the early stages. Raced wide without cover for the majority. Upon returning to scale Jockey W. D’Avila advised that his mount felt awkward in its action when placed under pressure from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed it was lame in the off-hind leg and was showing signs of tenderness on its rump and back region. Trainer J Campeao was advised the gelding requires a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing. Race 6: RACING AGAIN THURSDAY 28TH APRIL BENCHMARK 58Handicap 1300 metresThere was a lengthy delay to the start time of this event due to a dog becoming loose in the infield which took a considerable amount of time to be removed. The start time was amended to 4:55pm. YUAN FEN – Raced wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining a rearward position near the 700m. When questioned regarding the performance of YUAN FEN rider A Sewell advised he had anticipated settling handier and when placed under pressure the gelding had failed to respond. Trainer O Cairns advised YUAN FEN would be sent for a spell prior to resuming racing. TAKEN ON CHANCE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race. KELLERS SHELTER - Subject to a pre-race veterinarian examination at the start and was cleared to race. Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels and shifted out to obtain clear running near the 500m. Laid inwards over the concluding stages. ALLANON – Bumped on jumping. Raced keen early. Inclined to lay out in the home straight. When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance Jockey R. Wiggins advised the gelding had disappointed and failed to respond to his urgings. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had a slow recovery rate with trainer R Vale advising he intended to take bloods and report any abnormalities.
