GENERAL
 
Stewards inquired into a report received from the Integrity Investigations Team (IIT) in relation to AWESOME POWER. During the inquiry, Stewards heard evidence from IIT Stewards in relation to observations they had made during a routine stable inspection on the morning of 28th April 2022. The IIT Stewards stated that they observed the mare had box bandages on all four legs with a substance applied to both front legs. After questioning Trainer D Whyte he confirmed the horse had Swell Down applied the previous day and it had not been removed prior to the races today.

Taking into consideration the evidence tendered, stewards ordered order that AWESOME POWER be scratched at 12.49pm under the provisions of AR249(3). Stewards further adjourned the matter to a date and time to be fixed.

After questioning Trainer, I Shaw he confirmed the horse had Runners Relief applied the previous day and it had not been removed prior to the races today.

Taking into consideration the evidence tendered, stewards ordered order that STARS DON’T RUST be scratched at 12.06pm under the provisions of AR249(3). Stewards further adjourned the matter to a date and time to be fixed.
 
 
Race 1: QUEENSLAND HOTELS ASSOCIATION BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1800 metres
 
Following race one track conditions were upgraded to a Soft 7 retrospective to race one.
 
NO HARM DONE – Forced wider on jumping.
 
LIMPET – Inclined to lay outwards throughout. Raced wide without cover over the middle stages. Dislodged rider A Butler post-race with Mr Butler being examined by QAS and cleared to take his remaining rides.
 
AKATINO (GER) – Forced wider on jumping.
 
LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Slow to begin and failed to maintain contact with the body of the field over the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to disclose any abnormalities.
 
QUEEN OF MANHATTAN – Began awkwardly making contact with ANGOLIA MISS.
 
ANGOLA MISS – Bumped on jumping and as a result lost ground. Raced keen over the early stages.
 
ROLL THE BEANS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover before obtaining the leading position near the 1300m. Commence to weaken from the 400m taking no further competitive part. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
THE FRINGE – Forced wider on jumping.
 
 
Race 2: KENO MACKAY CLASSIC QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
ZIPPING IRISH – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover through the early stages before being restrained to a rearward position to obtain cover near the 900m. Laid inwards over the concluding stages.
 
HEROIC ANGEL – Begun awkwardly making contact with BRIGHT AND READY.
 
BRIGHT AND READY – Bumped on jumping by HEROIC ANGEL.
 
AIDAN ROCKET – Raced three wide throughout.Rider M Murphy advised he thought the gelding was feeling lethargic and would appreciate a spell.No abnormalities were detected after a post-race veterinary examination.
 
 
Race 3: MAX Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
CARTWRIGHT – Bumped with GREY ZONE on jumping. Commenced to weaken from the 400m taking no further competitive part. Rider R Wiggins when questioned advised the gelding showed little promise and, in his opinion, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
JUST FRANK – Bumped on jumping
 
IMPERIUM – Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards near the 200m.
 
GREY ZONE – Begun awkwardly bumping with CARTWRIGHT.
 
D'ORO CHOICE – Slow to begin and raced wide over the early stages.
 
LENNY ROCKET – Raced wide over the early stages.
 
MISS CONFIDANTE – Raced wide with cover for the majority. After the finishing post became awkward in its action and dislodged apprentice rider T Fenlon. Ms Fenlon was examined by QAS and cleared to ride her remaining engagements. A post-race veterinary examination failed to detect any abnormalities.
 
SAGITTARIUS – Raced wide early stages before progressing to the lead.
 
LATERALLY – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: INDEPENDENT LIQUOR GROUP Class 3 Handicap 1100 metres
 
TIME FOR VICTORY – Jumped awkwardly tightening SPIRIT HOUSE. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FUDGING – Slow to begin. Raced keenly over the early stages.
 
SPIRIT HOUSE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
KASINOVA KID – Begun awkwardly. Raced wide early stages. Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
 
MAN O' ROSS – Laid outwards over final stages. Cast an off-hind shoe during the running.
 
HILFLAGER – Raced keenly over the early stages. Improved onto heels and shifted in abruptly near the 100m.
 
NIAB – Was reluctant to proceed to the starting gates causing a further delay. Trainer A Cameron was advised a warning was placed on its pre-race mannersSlow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: QHA AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
There was a delay to the start after KARBORS required farrier attention at the barriers.  
 
COOLMEANS (NZ) – Fractious in the barriers prior to the jump. Raced wide for the majority.
 
WHYKAYOH – Lay inwards in the home straight.
 
BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Begun awkwardly.

POLHAMPTON – Jumped awkwardly making contact with CHATILLY. Raced wide with cover over the early stages.
 
RUN RAMPANT – Raced wide throughout.
 
WREN PLUCKED – Begun awkwardly.
 
AWESOME POWER – Was declared a late scratching at 12.49pm by order of Stewards.
 
CHATILLY – Hampered on jumping by POLHAMPTON. Raced wide through the early stages.
 
KARBORS – Required farrier attention prior to the start. Slow to begin and was hampered on jumping losing ground.
 
 
Race 6: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY OPEN Handicap 1050 metres
 
ALEYSA'S DREAM – Lay inwards shortly after the start and bumped with TRU BLU TANGO.
 
FANAAR (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
RAIDEN – Slow to begin.
 
FRATELLINO – Lay inwards approaching the 250m.Momentarily inconvenienced when FANAAR improved on its inside shortly afterwards.
 
TRU BLU TANGO – Bumped with ALEYSA’S DREAM shortly after the start.Lay inwards in the home straight.
 
 
Race 7: SUN FLUX SOLAR 1300 65 40 Class 1 Handicap1300 metres
 
MUSTAFA – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
POLICE (NZ) – Jumped awkwardly and bumped with SILVAPLANA shortly after the start. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
RIVER DAISY – Lost an off fore plate during the running. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of lameness in the off foreleg.
 
SILVAPLANA – Bumped with POLICE shortly after the start.Raced wide for the majority.
 
DISS 'N' DAT – Raced wide early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 8: QHA HAMILTON ISLAND GOLF CHALLENGE Class 6 Handicap 1200 metres
 
BOOM GATE – Held up for clear running from the 600m until the early part of the home straight. Near the 300m improved onto the heels of the tiring SIZZLEPEL. Shifted ground in to obtain clear running near the 200m.
 
BRIGALOW BOY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SIZZLEPEL – Slow to begin.Raced wide without cover in the early stages before improving to a position outside the leader near the 900m.
 
STARS DON'T RUST – Was declared a late scratching at 12.06pm by order of Stewards.
 
ZIPSPUR – Slow to begin. Lay inwards in the home straight.
