Raced keenly while being restrained in the early stages. Shifted out and was allowed to stride forward to obtain the leading position near the 1250m. MISHANI DREAMER – Began awkwardly making contact with AKATINO. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Was inclined to lay in throughout. Race 2: BOOK FUNCTIONS AT THE MTC BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1560 metresBERNIE'S TIGER – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. SCHAPPOSE (NZ) – Began awkwardly making contact with MILKY ROCKET. Shifted in making contact with RAMBLIN’ MAN near the 350m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. SRINI – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 500m until the early part of the home straight. MILKY ROCKET – Bumped by SCHAPPOSE on jumping and as a result was forced outwards. Raced keenly in the early stages. RAMBLIN' MAN – Bumped with SCHAPPOSE near the 350m. Race 3: BECOME A MEMBER OF THE MTC Maiden Handicap 1200 metresMACSHAMUS – Jumped away awkwardly making contact with STREET CULTURE. STREET CULTURE – Bumped on jumping by MACSHAMUS. When questioned regarding the gelding’s performance Jockey R. Wiggins stated that he was satisfied with the run and that STREET CULTURE would benefit from the run and appreciate further distance in its upcoming races. BLACKSHAW – Jumped away awkwardly.D'ORO CHOICE – Hampered on jumping by BLACKSHAW. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight, placing rider W D’Avila at a disadvantage. Jockey W. D’Avila reported that the gelding had raced greenly and laid inwards throughout the event. GREY ZONE – When questioned regarding GREY ZONE racing on the pace in today’s event jockey J Stanley advised that the gelding had a good draw and had jumped well resulting in it settling handier than anticipated. PAPARAZZI ROCKET – Slow to begin. TARGET THE STARS – Jockey J. Taylor was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted. LADY SHEILACK – Upon returning to scale jockey T. Chambers reported to stewards that in her opinion LADY SHEILACK didn’t handle the track conditions in today’s event. MISHANI PATRIOT – Raced wide through the early stages. SCORPIO RISING (NZ) – Raced keenly and improved onto heels approaching the 900m. Race 4: BOOK FOR AMATEURS 28TH MAY QTIS Three-Year-OldHandicap 1200 metresJUNGLE BEAT – Over raced in the early stages. Shifted outwards abruptly near the 250m while being ridden out. When questioned regarding the market expectation performance, apprentice rider M. Potgieter advised that in his opinion the gelding failed to handle the track conditions of todays event and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have displayed cardiac arrythmia. Trainer J. O’Sing was advised he would be required to produce a veterinary clearance and a satisfactory ECG result and JUNGLE BEAT would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing. AGUSTAWYND – Raced wide in the early stages. SUNDARA – Slow to begin. GOLDEN ATHENA – Became awkward in action near the 500m. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 500m. LITTLE MISS PEGGY – Slow to begin. Race 5: SMARTSTATE RENTALS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1300 metresSHADOW GODDESS – Slow to begin. MAN O' ROSS – Fractious in barrier. Began awkwardly and lost ground settling further back than anticipated. When questioned regarding the start, Apprentice S. Nielson advised that MAN OF ROSS had been fractious prior to the start, had the assistance of a barrier attendant and had missed the jump on its own accord. KEFALONIA – Jockey F. Edwards’s license to ride in race was suspended under AR132(5) for a period of seven days to commence midnight the 10th of May and to conclude midnight the 17th of May 2022 for his using his whip excessively during the event. GRAND DE LAGO – When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer B. Crear advised that the gelding had been caught wide in its previous race and had performed satisfactory prior to then. Stewards noted Mr Crear’s explanation. Jockey M. Murphy’s license to ride in races was suspended under AR132(5) for a period of seven days to commence midnight the 15th of May and to conclude midnight the 22nd of May 2022 for using his whip excessively during the event. WHYKAYOH – Began awkwardly making contact with TAVI MCBRIDE.MOUNT DUMARESQ – Raced wide throughout. NAOMI – Began awkwardly and lost ground. TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) – Began awkwardly making contact with WHYKAYOH. NIAB – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room near the 400m. Following the event, Jockey F. Edwards was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service and was subsequently stood down for the remainder of the meeting due to illness. Jockey Edwards was advised that he requires a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.Race 6: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1100 metres PLENTY – Began awkwardly making contact with the inside barrier partition. Laid out rounding the home turn. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. REVENIRE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. FRATELLINO – Bumped and was forced inwards by ROTHMAN shortly after the start and as a result made contact with HURRICANE FIGHTER. ROTHMAN – Began awkwardly making heavy contact with REVENIRE. EXACTAMENTE – Bumped by HURRICANE FIGHTER shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Was restrained approaching the 900m when ROTHMAN (C Collis) improved to the lead. Apprentice C Collis pleaded guilty to careless riding in that he shifted ground inwards when insufficiently clear of EXACTAMENTE causing that runner to be restrained and HURRICANE FLYER having to take evasive action. Mr Collis’s race day licence was suspended for a period of eight days from midnight the 12th of May to midnight the 20th of May 2022. Stewards intend to inquire into the manner EXACTAMENTE was ridden over the concluding stages. HURRICANE FIGHTER (NZ) – Began awkwardly tightening another runner to the outside. Bumped by FRATELLINO shortly after the start and as a result was forced inwards making contact with EXACTAMENTE. Improved onto heels and was forced to steady near the 900m. Held up rounding the home turn. KAHAYLAAN – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. NUREMBURG CASTLE – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination failed to disclose any abnormalities. Race 7: RACING AGAIN SAT 28TH MAY Class 2 Handicap1100 metresTHE GRADUATE – Began awkwardly. Shifted out to obtain clear running approaching the 200m Shortly afterwards was shifted inwards by OUR ARIANA, became awkwardly placed on the heels of BETTER DAYS AHEAD, clipped heels and blundered badly. Due to travel arrangements for some riders Stewards intend to inquire into this incident at a later date. Following the race THE GRADUATE was treated by the on course veterinarian due to being lame in the off fore leg. Trainer T Chambers was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to THE GRADUATE resuming racing. DIRTY DIARY – Shifted off heels approaching the 200m and impeded shortly afterwards.GEN WINE (NZ) – Raced wide for the majority. SONIC ARROW – Began awkwardly making contact with the barrier partition and as a result lost ground. Bumped with BEGS BELIEF shortly after the start. BEGS BELIEF – Bumped on jumping by SONIC ARROW. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Impeded at the start. INTIMIDATING – Raced wide in the early stages. OUR ARIANA – Raced wide without cover throughout. Shifted inwards onto THE GRADUATE which shifted in onto the heels of BETTER DAYS AHEAD. LEGAL CHANCE – Raced wide without cover throughout. STARHATTEN – Due to transport difficulties, was declared a late scratching at 8:25am.
