When questioned Mr Wiggins advised EXACTAMENTE had commenced to tire after being placed under pressure and was failing to run on. He acknowledged he had eased his riding of his mount over the final stages. After reviewing Stewards footage, the Stewards were satisfied Mr Wiggin’s mount had commenced to tire and in their opinion the gelding was not going to finish in a dividend bearing placing nor did it effect the stake money payable to the connections. After taking this into consideration no further action was required other than to remind Mr Wiggin’s of his requirement to fully ride his mount out and not leave his ride in question in future. GENERALApprentice N Seymour was unwell and did not attend today’s meeting. She was replaced on her mounts as per the summary below.The following weight alterations were permitted by Stewards.Race 8: J Stanley – MACHINATE - +1kg – 55.5kgRace 8: E Bell – SHE’S OUR EMPRESS - +1kg – 55kgRace 1: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metresUNDER THE COVERS – Jumped away awkwardly bumping with PURPLE SONG. GLEN ISLA MILER – Bumped on jumping with BRIGHT AND READY when shifting inwards. Over raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Raced wide throughout the event. Hung out passing the 600m. BRIGHT AND READY – Hampered on jumping by SWEET’S WAY then shifted out bumping with GLEN ISLA MILER. MISHANI HOOD – Following the running of the event, returned to the mounting yard making abnormal breathing noises. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. PURPLE SONG – Bumped on jumping by UNDER THE COVERS. Momentarily inconvenienced by SWEET’S WAY which laid out passing the 200m. SWEET WAY'S – Bumped with BRIGHT AND READY on jumping. Made the bend awkwardly passing the 400m and shifted ground outwards. Laid out passing the 200m when placed under pressure momentarily inconveniencing PURPLE SONG. TOUGHY ROCKET – Over raced in the early stages of the event. Race 2: SKY RACING Maiden Handicap 1100 metresMISHANI HURRICANE – Laid out when placed under pressure bumping with MIDNIGHT BOOM approaching the 100m. BLACKSHAW – Apprentice C Collis dropped his whip passing the 100m. D'ORO CHOICE – Jumped away awkwardly. Passing the 300m made contact with the inside running rail. GYPSY ROZAY – Bumped on jumping by MIDNIGHT BOOM. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MIDNIGHT BOOM – Jumped away awkwardly bumping with GYPSY ROZAY. Bumped with MISHANI HURRICANE approaching the 100m. MISS CONFIDANTE – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Improved when rounding the home turn. Apprentice M Castle was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using her whip on three consecutive strides prior to the 100m. Race 3: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS QTIS Three-Year-OldHandicap 1300 metresFIRE KING – Passing the 400m, became awkwardly placed on heels and made heavy contact with THE MAGIC ONE and ROYAL ARCHER resulting in rider T Leslight becoming unbalanced. Apprentice T Leslight pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he attempted a run where there was insufficient room resulting in his mount making heavy contact with both inside and outside runners and becoming severely unbalanced. Apprentice Leslight’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven days, to commence midnight 11/06/2022 and expire midnight 18/06/2022. In determining penalty Stewards took into consideration apprentice Leslight’s guilty plea, inexperience, forthright evidence and record. Raced in restricted room and was briefly inconvenienced by ROYAL ARCHER which laid in momentarily near the 200m when ROYAL ARCHER became awkwardly unbalanced and laid in despite the effort of its rider. Stewards opened an inquiry into the incident however after taking consideration of the evidence of the respective jockey’s and reviewing the Stewards footage the Stewards were satisfied no rider was at fault. . GOLDEN ATHENA – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m had to shift out to avoid the heels of FIRE KING and obtain clear racing room. BOOM TIME BABY – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously and made the bend near the 900m awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.BUNGARRIBEE LAD – Jumped away awkwardly. ROYAL ARCHER – Over raced in the early stages of the event. Bumped with FIRE KING passing the 400m. THE MAGIC ONE – Bumped with FIRE KING passing the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to left hind leg. Race 4: SMARTSTATE RENTALS OPEN Handicap 1560 metresTHE TAX ACCOUNTANT – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Apprentice C Collis was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m three more than permitted. TARAKI – Over raced in the early stages of the event. Following the running of the race, Trainer G Green advised stewards that TARAKI had bled from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of AR79(6) Trainer G Green was advised that TARAKI was stood down for lifetime from racing as this was the second occasion the mare had suffered a bilateral bleed. PLANET WARRIOR – Jumped away awkwardly bumping with EMMA’S JET and as a result was slow to begin. SCHAPPOSE (NZ) – Made the bend awkwardly passing the 1400m. Shifted out passing the 300m to obtain clear racing room. EMMA'S JET – Bumped on jumping with PLANET WARRIOR. Held up for the majority of the home straight before obtaining clear racing room near the 100m. Race 5: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 Handicap 1560 metresGEOFFROY – Was declared a late scratching at 9:02am on veterinary’s advice due to a high temperature. Trainer D Whyte was advised that GEOFFROY would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next future race start. SHADOW GODDESS – Slow to begin. Eased off the heels of TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) and shifted out to obtain clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight and bumped with COOLMEANS (NZ). UNIQUE JOURNEY – Trainer J Manzelmann was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(1) for presenting UNIQUE JOURNEY with the incorrect gear. When considering penalty Stewards took into account Mr Manzelmann’s excellent record. Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event. Commenced to weaken passing the 600m failing to take any further competitive part of the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for a poor performance. NIAB – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages of the event. Laid outwards when making the home turn passing the 400m. TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Race 6: NEWMARKET HCP FRIDAY 15TH JULY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55Handicap 1100 metresGUMNUTS – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly bumping with CUTTING LOOSE. Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event. OPINIONS – Had to shift out to obtain clear racing room momentarily inconveniencing CUTTING LOOSE approaching the 200m. Approaching the 50m was momentarily inconvenienced when runners to its inside and outside shifted ground. FARMER'S FRIEND – Jumped away awkwardly bumping with HINVICTUS. CUTTING LOOSE – Jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after the start bumped with GUMNUTS. Raced wide throughout the event. Momentarily inconvenienced by OPINIONS which shifted out near the 200m. When questioned regarding the performance jockey R Wiggins stated that CUTTING LOOSE had been caught wide throughout the event, however he was disappointed with the overall performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer J Wehlow was advised that CUTTING LOOSE would be required to obtain a veterinary clearance prior to its next future race start. HINVICTUS – Bumped with FARMER’S FRIEND on jumping. SHE'S MAGANDA – Raced wide throughout. CAT IN THE RAINE – Raced wide throughout.Race 7: MACKAY CUP SATURDAY 23RD JULY BENCHMARK 70Handicap 1200 metresDANAWI – Jockey D Smith was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip seven occasions prior to the 100m two more than permitted. YULONG SOVEREIGN – Was reluctant to load prior to the start of the event. FRATELLINO – Laid in when entering the home straight. Laid outwards passing the 200m placing BOOM GATE in restricted room. Apprentice M Castle was reprimanded under AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear. BOOM GATE – Raced in restricted room approaching the 200m when FRATELLINO laid out and had to steady. Simultaneously made contact with FOCUS which was laying inwards near the 200m. Shifted ground inwards to obtain clear racing room passing the 200m. DARK ARCHER – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. FOCUS – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in approaching the 200m bumping with BOOM GATE. ZIPSPUR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next future race start. KAHAYLAAN – Stood flat footed prior to jumping and as a result was slow to being. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record. STARSONIC – Over raced in the early stages of the event. Race 8: RACING AGAIN THURSDAY 23RD JUNE Class 1 Handicap1300 metresZOUNATE – Bumped with BAYERISCHE in the home straight. BAYERISCHE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight making contact with ZOUNATE. FUTURE IDEA (NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid outwards in the home straight when placed under pressure forcing RIVER DAISY wider on the track. GREY ZONE – Over raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Laid in when placed under the pressure in the home straight. RIVER DAISY – Forced wider on the track in the home straight by FUTURE IDEA(NZ) which lay outwards. MISHANI DREAMER – Jumped away awkwardly making contact with the inside barrier partition and as a result was slow to begin. SHE'S OUR EMPRESS – Improved onto the heels of FUTURE IDEA (NZ) over the concluding stages and shifted ground DISS 'N' DAT – Stewards permitted Jockey W D’Avila to replace Apprentice N Seymour as there were no suitable apprentice riders available who were able to make the allocated weight.
