GENERAL
The following weight alterations were authorised
Race 1: M Murphy – LADY SHEILACK - + .5kg
Race 5: N Day – QUIDNI - + .5kg
 
MISHANI PATRIOT, SIRFINA and TICTOC TICTOC were all inspected by the veterinarian pre-race after racing within the previous seven days and cleared to race.
 
Due to the delay in Race four the following races were amended to the following times;
Race five – 2.35pm
Race six – 3.03pm
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
HE WILL ACHEEV – Fractious prior to the start. Jumped away awkwardly and was slow as a result. Raced ungenerously through the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance jockey N Day advised he had received a nice run but the gelding had placed him in difficulty over the early stages. He further added he believed the gelding would take benefit from the second up run.
 
STREET CULTURE – Raced keenly through the early stages. Jockey G Kliese was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions one more than permitted prior to the 100m.
 
SUPER VOGUE – Forced wider on the track near the 1100m by STREET CULTURE which was over racing.
 
D'ORO CHOICE – Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
 
TEX'S GIRLS (NZ) – Compounded over the final stages with a post-race veterinary examination failing to detect any abnormalities. Trainer M Mclellan advised a warning was placed against the racing performance of the filly.
 
WHOOPIE WOOP TRAIN – Angled wider on the track approaching the 250m to obtain clear racing room.
 
 
Race 2: STARCUT FLOWERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap
1100 metres
 
There was a lengthy delay to the start after REAL SHEEK escaped riderless  for a considerable distance. 
 
SUPER FAST – When questioned regarding the performance of SUPER FAST jockey J Stanley advised the gelding felt flat throughout. Trainer G Hughes advised he would be monitoring how SUPER FAST pulled up from the run then assessing its campaign depending on the outcome.
 
REAL SHEEK – Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12.38pm after escaping riderless for a considerable distance. Trainer J Campeao was advised the gelding was stood down for a satisfactory trial. Jockey N Seymour was examined by QAS officers and cleared to continue riding. Upon declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all monies placed on REAL SHEEK be refunded with the following deductions to apply to all bets placed prior to 12.38pm.
Winner - SHALUNA – 0 cents win and 1 cent place
Second - ANNAKURI – 2 cents place
Third - SHATTER PROOF – 1 cent place
 
ANNAKURI – A warning was placed on the gelding due to its pre-race manners when it was reluctant to leave the mounting enclosure and parade to the start.
 
GAZZMAN – Raced wide through the early stages.
 
GYPSY KING – Slow to begin.
 
SHALUNA – Shifted outwards at the jump. Over raced through the early and middle stages. Held up for clear racing room in the initial stages of the home straight before angling wider on the track approaching the 200m.
 
BRIDEZILLA (NZ) – Lay outwards on the bend by the 600m.
 
 
Race 3: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
There was a delay to the start of this race after jockey J Baker was examined by the QAS at the barriers after advising he felt unwell. Mr Baker was cleared to take his ride.
 
There was a delay to correct weight being declared after jockey J Baker dismounted CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN prior to entering the mounting enclosure and was assisted by QAS officers prior to weighing in.
 
SHIRAISHI – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Was inclined to lay inwards throughout. Shifted off heels near the 100m.
 
CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN – Following the running of the race jockey J Baker was stood down by Stewards on the medical advice given by the QAS officers who examined Mr Baker post-race. Mr Baker was advised he requires a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
 
FARMER'S FRIEND – Slow to begin.
 
SO FIRED UP – Slow to begin. Over raced early stages. Lay inwards passing the 250m.
 
LEGAL CHANCE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 4: GRANT PAINTERS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
DR DEMON – Bumped with NEW YORK WORLD at the jump. Steadied near the 850m when improving onto heels. Lay inwards approaching the 150m.
 
SCENT OF FEAR – Bumped with ATTACKABEEL near the 250m.
 
NEW YORK WORLD – Bumped with DR DEMON at the jump. Bumped with ATTACKABEEL near the 250m. Lost both front plates during the running.
 
ATTACKABEEL – Jumped away awkwardly. Bumped with NEW YORK WORLD and SCENT OF FEAR when improving near the 250m.
 
DIVINE WIT – Shifted off heels of ATTACKABEEL near the 700m.
 
ALL NATIVE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide early stages.
 
BOOMKO – Lay outwards throughout the home straight while being ridden out.
 
WREN PLUCKED – Slow to begin.
 
SHEEZ MARVELLOUS – Over raced through the initial stages. Raced wide throughout. Near the 150m had to be checked when clipping heels and blundering when racing between DR DEMON (J Doolan) and BOOMKO (M Castle). Apprentice J Doolan was reprimanded under AR131(a) for permitting her mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of SHEEZ MARVELLOUS causing that runner to clip heels and blunder. When considering penalty Stewards took into account the margin Ms Doolan allowed her mount to shift inwards and the mitigating circumstances. Apprentice M Castle was found guilty pursuant to AR131(a) in that she allowed her mount to shift outwards when insufficiently clear of SHEEZ MARVELLOUS causing that runner to clip heels and blunder. Ms Castle’s licence to ride in races was suspended for eight days from midnight the 2nd of July until midnight the 10th of July 2022. When considering penalty Stewards took into account the margin Ms Castle allowed her mount to shift and the mitigating circumstances.
 
 
Race 5: SMARTSTATE RENTALS OPEN Handicap 1050 metres
 
BRAD – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late rider notification of A Coome.Jockey A Coome was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted. When questioned regarding the improved performance of BRAD trainer T Cook advised the gelding had worked well in the lead up to the race, his bloods had improved from its previous disappointing run and it had received an economical run when receiving cover during the race.
 
QUIDNI – Raced wide for the majority.
 
TOY BOY – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide early stages.
 
SIRFINA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion on the near foreleg.
 
HARRY ROCKET – Shifted outwards at the start.
 
 
Race 6: H.L. BLACK MEMORIAL FRIDAY 15TH JULY Class 6 Handicap 1300 metres
 
ROTHMAN – Made the bend awkwardly near the 600m and had to be restrained off heels.
 
AERIAL COMBAT – Lost offside front plate during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from a mild bout of colic.
 
VELARO – Jumped awkwardly and raced wide initial stages.
 
KEFALONIA – Brushed the inside barrier partition on jumping and was slow to begin. Raced wide early stages before improving to outside the leaders near the 700m.
 
MISHANI REBEL – Had to be restrained off heels near the 600m when racing keenly.
 
STARSONIC – Over raced early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 7: MACKAY CUP SATURDAY 23RD JULY RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1300 metres
 
ROADHOUSE – Over raced for the majority. Raced greenly in the home straight and had to be straightened near the 200m.
 
COOLMEANS (NZ) – Bumped with ROCK “N” SOL near the 450m and again at the 350m when ROCK “N” SOL was attempting to improve its position. Lay inwards in the home straight.
 
ROCK 'N' SOL – Bumped with COOLMEANS near the 450m and again at the 350m when attempting to obtain clear racing room.
 
WIT – Jumped away awkwardly then proceeded to buck and rear dislodging jockey B Pengelly. Mr Pengelly was examined by QAS officers and cleared to take his remaining rides. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised WIT was stood down to complete a satisfactory trial.
 
GUMNUTS – Jumped away awkwardly and raced wide over the early stages.
 
 
Race 8: LOCAL BUILDING RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1560 metres
 
WHYKAYOH – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. The connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to WHYKAYOH resuming racing. Trainer J Manzelmann advised it was his intention to retire WHYKAYOH.
 
MACHINATE – Just prior to the jump got its head down and began awkwardly settling at the back of the field. Had to be steadied and shift ground outwards near the 150m when runners to its inside shifted wider on the track. When questioned regarding the performance jockey J Stanley stated after missing the jump MACHINATE  settled at the back of the field which was not its normal racing pattern. He attempted to improve its position prior to the home turn however the mare failed to improve its position as expected and only battled in the home straight.
 
RUFFIN' IT (NZ) – Shifted inwards at the start contacting TICTOC TICTOC. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TICTOC TICTOC – Trainer J Manzelmann advised a change of tactics in that the mare was to be ridden quietly over the early stages which was against its normal racing pattern and was ridden accordingly. Raced in restricted room near the 100m and shifted wider on the track for clear racing room.
 
RIVER DAISY – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly over the initial stages. Lay inwards when being ridden out in the home straight.
 
MISHANI DREAMER – Over raced through the early and middle stages. Shifted inwards and struck the running rail approaching the 1200m.
 
SHE'S OUR EMPRESS – Steadied off the heels of RIVER DAISY which lay inwards over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 9: RACING AGAIN FRIDAY 1ST JULY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap
1560 metres
 
PLANET WARRIOR – Shifted off the heels of BOOM GATE near the 500m bumping with SHADOW GODDESS on its outside. Held up for clear running from the 500m until near the 200m.
 
BOOM GATE – Held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.
 
LOUIS JANUARY – Over raced throughout.
 
SHADOW GODDESS – Became unbalanced near the 500m when contacted by PLANET WARRIOR which shifted outwards to avoid heels.
 
SPRINGTHORPE – Raced wide early stages. Became unbalanced when contacting MISS SILKY which was racing in restricted room on its inside near the 600m.
 
KAHAYLAAN – Over raced early stages and had to steady off heels near the 1200m.
 
MISS SILKY – Over raced early and middle  stages. Contacted SPRINGTHORPE near the 600m when racing in restricted room.
 
UNIQUE JOURNEY – Slow to begin and failed to maintain contact with the field throughout. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised UNIQUE JOURNEY was stood down from TAB meetings until it proves more competitive.
