FLAMING HOMER – Jumped away awkwardly. Momentarily held up when entering the home straight. Passing the 100m, laid in momentarily carrying in PURPLE SONG. Held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages. MISHANI CAPTIVE – Passing the 100m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PURPLE SONG which was carried in by FLAMING HOMER. NINETYNINE NOT OUT – Overraced in the middle stages of the event. SECRET QUALITY – Jumped away awkwardly. PURPLE SONG – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Race 2: WHITSUNDAY WEALTH Class 2 Handicap 1100 metres THE GRADUATE – Bumped on jumping by LEGAL CHANCE which shifted in. READY FOR MAGIC – Hampered shortly after jumping by BETTER DAYS AHEAD. MAKING CONTACT – When questioned regarding the performance in today’s event, Jockey A. Butler stated to stewards that he was disappointed in the run, however advised that the filly hung out from the 800m and advised connections that the cross-over nose band should be removed as he felt in his opinion the mount resented the gear. BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Jumped away awkwardly, shifting out hampering READY FOR MAGIC. Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. CACAO – Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance in today’s event, Jockey J. Stanley advised stewards that he was disappointed with the gelding’s performance and advised stewards that he felt that his mount raced flat throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. SUPER VOGUE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and as a result lost ground. SUPREME PRINCE – Raced wide throughout the event. THE CROWN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. FARMER'S FRIEND – Held up for clear racing room in the home straight. Passing the 100m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of THE GRADUATE which shifted in and had shift out abruptly to obtain clear racing room. Apprentice Jockey T. Fenlon was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. DIVINE WIT – Overraced in the early stages of the event. WIDESPREAD – Hampered on jumping by DR NEIGH which shifted out and LOVE ON SUNDAY which shifted in and lost considerable ground. WREN PLUCKED – Upon returning to scale, Jockey C. Jokic advised stewards that her mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event. SNITZ AND THE CITY – Hampered and placed in restricted room shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event and forced to steady to avoid heels near the 800m. Race 4: MAGIC MILLIONS WHITSUNDAY GUINEAS QTIS 3YO Handicap 1560 metres FIRE KING – Jockey R. Wiggins was fined $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. NO GOING BACK – Jumped away awkwardly. Had to steady off the heels of MIDNIGHT BOOM near the 1400m. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. BAYERISCHE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MISS SEATTLE – Raced wide throughout the event. MISHANI DREAMER – Jumped away awkwardly. Race 5: STARCUT FLOWERS BELLE OF WHITSUNDAY Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 70 Han 1560 metres NATURAL EMPEROR – Was declared a late scratching at 12:37pm on veterinary advice due to an elevated temperature. Trainer T. Smith was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next future race start. OLD SCHOOL – Overraced in the early stages and raced in restricted room before having to be restrained near the 1400m. UNDER THE DUNES – Slow to begin. GOLDEN ATHENA – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Slow to begin. Held up around the home turn before shifting out to obtain clear racing room. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. TOUCH OF BALI – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 6: AQUIS STUD FARM Class 3 Plate 1300 metres ARCTIC WOLF – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. PLUCKERCARN – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages of the event. Held up in the early stages of the home straight before shifting wider to obtain clear racing room. PROXIMATE CAUSE – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. SOUTH PACIFIC (GB) – Slow to begin. ZIPSPUR – Slow to begin. BARNEY'S BLAZE – Raced wide throughout the event. Upon returning to scale, Jockey R. Wiggins stated to stewards that his mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event and had difficulty in steering. Jockey Wiggins also advised that BARNEY’S BLAZE felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. HILFLAGER – Overraced in the early stages of the event. Made the bend awkwardly entering the home straight. STARHATTAN – Laid in over the concluding stages of the event. Race 7: CE GROUP MACKAY CUP 2000 metres There was a significant delay to the start of Race 7 due to RULE THE WORLD having its tongue-tie reapplied. DJUKON (GB) – Jumped away awkwardly, shifting in making contact with NAMAZU. Commenced to over-race and had to be retrained passing the 1700m. SIR BARNABUS – Held up upon entering the home straight and had to shift out to obtain clear racing room. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Had to steady to avoid the heels of SAYL (GB) which shifted out abruptly and was carried wider making contact with SCHAPPOSE (NZ) passing the 250m. Jockey R. Fradd (the rider of SAYL) was found guilty under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear. Jockey Fradd’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight August 1st 2022 and to conclude midnight 13th August 2022. Jockey J. Stanley was fined $200 under the provisions of AR210(1) for failing to weigh in following the running of the event. PANIAGUA – Hampered on jumping by QUALITY ASSET which shifted in and RULE THE WORLD which shifted out. Raced wide throughout the event. SCHAPPOSE (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Race 8: KEY SOLUTIONS GROUP BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2000 metres The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the photo-finish image of the placings between 2nd and 3rd. After viewing the available image in the presence of the judge, the judge was satisfied that he could not determine a margin between the two runners as there was insufficient evidence to support his original placings, therefore a dead heat was declared for second placing. The numbers were altered to 5 – 3 & 4 – 1. SPRINGTHORPE – Jumped away awkwardly. KEEP ON LOVING YOU – Jumped away awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier petition. Bayliss stated that his mount was uncompetitive and had failed to respond to his riding urges throughout the event.A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
