GENERAL
Jockey Denicious Smith was injured the day prior to the meeting and replaced on his rides as per the summary. Mr Smith was advised he requires a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
 
Jockeys Ryan Wiggins and Jackson Murphy encountered flight delays and were replaced on their rides in race one and two as per the summary.
 
Stewards refrained from taking action in relation to Jockey Ryan Wiggins for being unable to make the weight on PANGU DYNASTY, NORWEGIAN WOOD and DIVINE WIT due to his flight being delayed which did not allow him the opportunity that he would have otherwise had to reduce his weight.
 
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 4 Handicap 1800 metres
 
GHOSTED – Forced wider on the home turn by OPINIONS which hung outwards.
 
MISHANI TULIP – Raced three wide during the middle stages.
 
HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.
 
OPINIONS – Raced wide over the early stages before improving to the lead near the 1400m. Rounding the home turn hung outwards and shifted wider on the track carrying GHOSTED wider.
 
OWNED UP – Raced three wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 2: SKY RACING QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
Correct weight was delayed allowing the connections of the second placed DIAMOND MONEY to view the photo finish and after doing so were satisfied with the placings and correct weight as declared on the judge’s numbers.
 
DIAMOND MONEY – Jumped outwards at the start.
 
FREDDY BARBAROSSA – Jumped outwards at the start bumping with ANGEL ABOVE.
 
ANGEL ABOVE – Bumped at the start.
 
SOARING SPIRIT – Tightened and checked between runners at the start. Tired noticeably over the final 400m. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.The connections were advised a warning was placed against the filly for its racing performance.
 
CITY MISSION – Jumped inwards at the start.
 
FORTY FOUR FLYER – Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12.16pm when the filly re-opened an old wound to the right cheek area. Post-race the veterinary was of the view that the wound would heal in time without further veterinary treatment and no stand down period was warranted. All monies invested prior to 12.16pm were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions applied.

Second 1- DIAMOND MONEY – 3 cents place
Third 2 - SECRET QUALITY – 4 cents place
 
PURPLE SONG – Was declared a late scratching at 12.13pm when the filly refused to proceed to the barriers. Connections were advised that PURPLE SONG has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory barrier trial.  All monies invested prior to 12.13pm were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions applied.

Race 3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIKKI QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
BETTER THAN ELVIS – Shifted inwards abruptly soon after the start tightening CATCH DIS which in turn shifted inwards tightening STEP THIS WAY.
 
GRAND ASCENT – Jumped outwards at the start contacting MY DAD’S BETTER which in turn contacted STEP THIS WAY which was checked.
 
SIRENE – Jumped away awkwardly. Bumped with PRISCILLA MISS near the 200m.
 
IKIGAI STAR – Hung outwards under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISHANI REBOUND – Raced wide over the early stages.
 
STEP THIS WAY – Checked at the start.
 
CATCH DIS – Tightened at the start.
 
MY DAD'S BETTER – Inconvenienced at the start.
 
PRISCILLA MISS – Over raced early stages and hung outwards throughout the running. Bumped with SIRENE near the 200m.
 
 
Race 4: BOOK FOR CLASSIC DAY 1ST OCT Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
There was an initial delay to the start due to WHOBETHATNOW being reluctant to load and then ARENPAL having difficulty with the barrier blanket being fitted.
 
JEITOSO – Raced wide for the majority.
 
DENIMS – Checked after the start.
 
EMERALD PRINCESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not racing within the previous 12 months and was cleared to start.Slow to begin.
 
IMARA – Shifted outwards abruptly at the start tightening IXELLES out onto DENIMS resulting in both those runners being checked.
 
ARENPAL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not racing within the previous 12 months and was cleared to start. Raced ungenerously over the early stages and hung inwards badly checking PANGU DYNASTY on its inside near the 900m. The connections were advised the gelding was stood down until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
 
IXELLES – Checked after the start.
 
PANGU DYNASTY – Severely checked near the 900m when ARENPAL hung inwards.
 
WHOBETHATNOW – A warning was placed on the barrier manners of the gelding due to it being reluctant to load.Raced three wide throughout.
 
BLACKSHAW – When questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding trainer J Campeao advised that he attributed the improvement to the gelding fitness level improving with its most recent race start and BLACKSHAW, although beaten 6L at Bluff on 27/08/2022 the horse did not handle the kick back on the dirt track and appreciated the return to grass track racing.
 
 
Race 5: BOOK FOR MELB CUP RACE DAY TUES 1ST NOV. 0 - 52 Handicap 1100 metres
 
STRONACH – Bumped after the start with NORWEGIAN WOOD. Bumped with NORWEGIAN WOOD at the 900m.
 
SECLUSION – Bumped by NINETYNINE NOT OUT at the start. Raced three wide for the majority.
 
GETOUT OF MY NEIGH (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
NORWEGIAN WOOD – Bumped with STRONACH after the start and at the 900m.
 
WREN PLUCKED – When questioned regarding the performance of the mare Apprentice Melea Castle advised the mare had over raced and had hung outwards. Trainer representative Tim Cook advised he would be recommending the mare be sent for a let up and have dentistry work performed. A post-race veterinary examination failed to disclose any apparent abnormalities.
 
NINTYNINE NOT OUT – Shifted inwards at the start bumping with SECLUSION.
 
 
Race 6: DONATELIFE OPEN Handicap 1560 metres
 
DEEP BREATH – Raced wide over the middle stages.

SCHAPPOSE (NZ) – Raced ungenerously over the early stages when attempting to gain cover when the tempo was very moderate.
 
MASON'S CHANCE – Over raced early stages.
 
ELLE A WALKING – Improved wide mid race to improve to the lead. Lay outwards in the home straight.
 
ROCK 'N' SOL – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 7: WHITSUNDAY WEALTH Maiden Handicap 1560 metres
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, the Judge contacted the Stewards and corrected the numbers semaphored. He amended his initial numbered fourth horse to be number 12 MISHANI PATRIOT not number 2 KEEP ON FIGHTING as initially notified.
 
MR DEMOLITION – When questioned regarding the gelding’s performance jockey B Pengelly advised that the horse travelled well throughout however when placed under pressure inside the final 500m failed to run on and in his opinion was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealedno obvious abnormalities.
 
KEEP ON FIGHTING – Raced wide over the early stages. Jockey C Spry advised the Stewards although racing wide over the early stages he had received a good run over the middle stages. He then stated he had improved his position earlier than anticipated as he attempted to gain ground on the tear away leader however KEEP ON FIGHTING proved to be disappointing overall. 

HE WILL ACHEEV – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start.

SUPER ROOSTER – Pulled hard in the early stages when attempting to obtain cover.
 
 
Race 8: SMARTSTATE RENTALS BM55 Handicap 1560 metres
 
NO HARM DONE – Slow to begin.
 
EROE – Hung inwards over the final stages under pressure.
 
STAR OF LEON – Shifted ground outwards over the final stages to obtain a clear run to the line.
 
KITTYKITTYBANGBANG – Slow to begin.
 
RUFFIN' IT (NZ) – Pulled hard through the early and middle stages. Awkwardly placed on the heels of MARNDARRA near the 500m when racing in restricted room.
 
SHOCK ZONE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Rider dropped his whip just prior to the winning post.
 
BATTLE –  Slow into stride. Held up over the early stages of the home straight.
 
CHICO – Hung inwards under pressure over the final stages.
 
 
Race 9: NAHLA THOROUGHBREDS Class 1 Handicap 1300 metres
 
ANNAKURI – Inconvenienced over the final stages.
 
RISK IN ROME – Slow to begin.Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
DIVINE WIT – Slow to begin.
 
MISS PIERRO – Checked shortly after the start.
 
POLITE APPLAUSE (NZ) – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance Jockey C Whiteley advised  POLITE APPLAUSE was up in class, settled further back than anticipated after being trapped wide in the early stages and the mare had run on reasonably well considering the circumstances.
 
BRIDEZILLA (NZ) – Hung out under pressure over the final 200m inconveniencing ANNAKURI.
 
SO FIRED UP – Leaving the 1200m commenced to over raced and was checked off the heels of THE ABYSS for some distance.
 
THE ABYSS (NZ) – Carried outwards shortly after the start.
 
CHATILLY – Shortly after the start shifted outwards carrying THE ABYSS out onto MISS PIERRO which was checked and in turn shifted out checking BRAVE MISSILE.
 
BRAVE MISSILE – Slow to begin. Checked shortly after the start.
 
 
 
Race 10: RACING AGAIN THURS 22ND SEPT BM58 Handicap 1100 metres
 
RED PERONI – Raced three wide over the early stages.
 
AERIAL COMBAT – Slow to begin. Was checked shortly after the start. Impeded near the 200m.
 
COCHRANE – Jumped sideways at the start striking the barrier structure then threw its head in the air soon after with the rider becoming unbalanced.
 
WHOSHOTTHEMAGICIAN – Shifted inwards shortly after the start.
 
CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN – Jockey L Tilley was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding, in that at approximately 200m to run he shifted outwards when insufficiently clear impeding the progress of AERIAL COMBAT which was inconvenienced.
 
WIT – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels near the 700m and had to check off the heels of WHOSHOTTHEMAGICIAN.
 
LILY ALLEZ (NZ) – Over raced for the majority. Jockey S Sheargold advised that the mare had over raced for the majority of the race which contributed to the disappointing performance.
