Yeppoon 29/10/2022 – Stewards acceded to a request from jockey Tasha Chambers in relation to her 7-day suspension incurred under AR131(a) for careless riding in Race 3 to be amended to commence midnight 01 November 2022 and to conclude midnight 08/11/2022.
 
GENERAL
 
Overweight permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
SPLASHER was re-handicapped an additional 1.5KG after winning subsequent to acceptances at Yeppoon on 29/11/2022.
 
Due to Apprentice Shae Nielson being unable obtain a medical clearance Adrian Coome was the approved rider replacement in race 1 on YUAN FEN.
 
 
Race 1: MA’S PIZZA BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1560 metres
 
LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Slow to begin.
 
BONDURANT – began awkwardly. Jockey Ashley Butler was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
YUAN FEN – Bumped on jumping.
 
THE ABYSS (NZ) – Began awkwardly bumping with YUAN FEN.
 
IRON MASK – Began awkwardly.
 
 
 
Race 2: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY OPEN Handicap 1560 metres
 
SCHAPPOSE (NZ) – Apprentice Emily Lang was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
 
THE DRILLER – Began awkwardly.
 
ELLE A WALKING – Slow to begin. Apprentice Nicole Seymour was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
 
A FIGHTING FURY – Jumped in the air and was slow to begin. Jockey Adam Spinks was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 3: SMARTSTATE RENTALS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN Handicap 1300 metres
 
 
ATHENA’S SECRET – Slow to begin. Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Connections were advised that a warning has been issued against the racing manners of ATHENA’S SECRET.
 
GOOGAZ – Jockey Adam Spinks was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
ROCKET ONA MISSION – Slow to begin. Trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Connections were advised that a warning has been issued against the racing manners of ROCKET ONA MISSION.
 
DOVI’S DAY – Very slow to begin.
 
MY DAD’S BETTER – Connections advised that they intend to make a gear alteration to remove the tongue tie as they felt the filly showed resentment and refused to perform as expected.
 
 
 
Race 4: BLACKS REAL ESTATE BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
KINGS COUNTY – Over raced near the 700m and shifted out across the heels of UNASSAILABLE and carried both DIRTY OR DRY and BRIDEZILLA wider.
 
BRIDEZILLA (NZ) – Fraction slow to begin. Race wide for the majority. Carried wider near the 700m.
 
DIRTY OR DRY – Raced wide throughout. Carried wider near the 700m.
 
 
 
Race 5: STARCUT FLOWERS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1100 metres
 
SPLASHER – Apprentice Jade Doolan explained that she attributed the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding to having to work hard during the initial stages to obtain the lead, carrying a big weight and backing up after 3 days. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
XANTHUS – Began awkwardly.
 
ROADHOUSE – Slow into stride.
