MISHANI REBEL – Jumped away awkwardly.GOLDEN EIGHTY – Hung in for a distance approaching the home turn. Jockey Nathan Thomas advised that he was of the view that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit during the run despite a tongue tie being fitted and this contributed to the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination of GOLDEN EIGHTY failed to reveal any abnormalities.Race 2: BRYAN INDUSTRIES QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metresEXECUTIVE STRESS – Tightened for room at the start. BETTERDEEL – Slow to begin. Over raced early stages.ASHIKO BAY – Shifted ground outwards at the start tightening EXECUTIVE STRESS to its outside. Over raced during the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed a laceration to the near hind leg, which was treated and ASHIKO BAY has been stood down from racing until receipt of a veterinary clearance. MISHANI REBOUND – Raced wide early stages. DOVI'S DAY – Raced wide for the majority of the race. GOOGAZ – Raced wide through the early stages. Race 3: CUSTOM FLUIDPOWER BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres NOR FORCE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.GRACIOUS GARCON – Brushed the running rail near the 700m. Apprentice Jenna Edwards was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to her mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted (1st offence).TOUR DE DREAM – Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. KEEP ON FIGHTING – Slow to begin.DEVIL – Over raced through the early stages. Hung in under pressure.CHESTO'S DREAM – Raced wide throughout.BOLD ZIP – Slow to begin. Checked off the heels of IXELLES near the 700m when over racing. Tightened and checked near the 250m when IXELLES shifted out abruptly under pressure.IXELLES – Jumped away awkwardly. Shifted out abruptly under pressure near the 250m.PERSAGA – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.CHATILLY – Wide throughout.Race 4: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY OPEN Handicap 1050 metresBRAD – Trainer Tim Cook was fined $100 under AR106(2) for presenting the gelding wearing the incorrect gear (winkers instead of blinkers).GOLDEN ATHENA – Slow to begin.SCHATZI – Began awkwardly.Race 5: HAPPY 21ST JAY Maiden Handicap 1300 metres LYRICAL LOVER – Raced wide throughout. Hung in under pressure.PRIZED BENEFIT – Began awkwardly.JANOSIK (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages.ARCTIC WALTZ – Shifted outwards abruptly at the start. Jockey Nathan Day was queried in relation to what appeared to be a lack of vigour close to the finish when beaten narrowly into fourth position. Mr Day explained that he had ridden strong hands and heels and used the whip for a considerable distance in the home straight and he was of the view that ARCTIC WALTZ’S run had ended near the 100m. The rider further stated that he could have pushed his mount for a further stride or two prior to the finish, however he felt that it would not have altered the finishing position of his mount. After viewing the replays and hearing Mr Day’s explanation the Stewards could not be satisfied to the requisite standard that the lack of action by the rider had impacted the result of the race however, he was advised that regardless of this, he was expected to ensure his mounts are ridden out until the finish. SHEZABLAST – Impeded on jumping. CHILENA – Jumped away awkwardly. ARMEE ADMIRAL – Raced wide throughout. Race 6: BLACKS REAL ESTATE Class 3 Plate 1560 metresREVELLERS – Raced wide throughout. Tired noticeably over the final 400m.
