Race 1: SKY RACING Class 6 Handicap 1560 metres
RAPAPORT – Trainer J. Whelow reported to stewards that a change in tactics would be adopted for RAPAPORT. The gelding would be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Began awkwardly.
LIFETIME QUEST – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer I. Shaw advised that he felt as though the gelding would be suited to the longer distance of todays event however was surprised by todays performance.
GRANT'S PATCH – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
Race 2: TAB OPEN Handicap 1100 metres
The start of this event was delayed as a result of trainer J. Manzelmann being assessed by the Queensland Ambulance service, Prior to the running of race 2, after being kicked while saddling SPLASHER.
PLENTY – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

Race 3: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
ACRES AWAY – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
LERTCON – Bumped on jumping. Tightened for room and lost ground near the 1000m when MISHANI TYCOON laid in despite best efforts of its rider. Improved onto the heals of OUTBACK STEP approaching the 200m as a result has to shift out to obtain clear running.
EYES ARE LION – Began awkwardly bumping ERRONEOUS. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight
ERRONEOUS – Bumped on jumping
MISHANI TWILIGHT – Began awkwardly
MISHANI EAGLE – Slow to begin.
MISHANI PROMISE – At a point leaving the 1050m was tightened for room, checked and lost ground when ACRES AWAY shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice O. O’Donnell (the rider of ACRES AWAY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that leaving the 1050m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MISHANI PROMISE resulting in that runner being tightened for room checked and lost ground. Apprentice O’Donnell’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight days to commence midnight 18/2/2023 and to conclude midnight 26/2/2023.
MISHANI TYCOON – Inclined to lay in in early and middle stages.
Race 4: MATTHEW LEITCH FARRIER Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
ROVERS PEPPER – Began awkwardly.
ENUFF FOR ME – Commenced to weaken from the 400m and took no further competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
HARLOW QUEEN – Shifted out near the 50m tightening ANGELS LANDING for clear running room.
RUN PEGGY RUN – Inclined to over race in the early and middle stages. Inclined to hang in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Hung in near the 50m tightening ANGELS LANDING for clear running room.
FLYING CARMEN – Bumped on jumping.
ANGELS LANDING – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Inclined to lay in when place under pressure in the home straight. Tightened for room and lost ground near the 50m when HARLOW QUEEN slightly shifted out and RUN PEGGY RUN laid in.
CHILENA – Began awkwardly.
FLAMING ASTEROID – Wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
NICOVER – Began awkwardly. Inclined to hang out throughout.
PURPLE SONG – Began awkwardly.
Race 5: CLERMONT VETERINARY SURGERY OPEN Handicap 1300 metres
BRAD – Commenced to weaken from the 700m and took no further competitive part in the race. When questioned regarding below market expectation performance Jockey A. Butler advised at a point leaving the 800m his mount failed to respond when placed under pressure and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T. Cook advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
ABSOLUT ARTIE – Began Awkwardly.
FRATELLINO – Inclined to hang in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey A. Spinks was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
CINNAMON MISSILE – Slow to begin.
STARSONIC – Over raced early and Middle staged. Approaching the 300m shifts out to obtain clear running bumping SUCH A WHIT.
SUCH A WHIT – Slow to begin. Near the 400m improved onto the heels of STARSONIC resulting in being checked and losing ground. Nearing the 300m was bumped by STARSONIC.
Race 6: SMARTSTATE RENTALS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
JUST LIKE ROSIE – Began awkwardly.
SIZZLING SAMURAI – Began awkwardly.
LEVALET – Bumped on Jumping.
DOOM DIVA – Raced wide throughout.
KINGMATE – Raced wide throughout.
MISHANI JET – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Commenced to weaken from the 700m and took no further competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
MARSHY – Began awkwardly.
Race 7: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY FROM THE MTC BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1050 metres
YULONG SOVEREIGN – Laid in when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight
AGUSTAWYND – Momentarily held up for clear running leaving the 300m.
BEAN DEADLY – Began awkwardly.
KAHAYLAAN – Raced wide without cover early and middle stages. Post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding bled from both nostrils. Trainer l. wright was advised that the gelding will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and must complete a satisfactory 1000m gallop in front of stewards before being able to start in a race.
Race 8: RACING AGAIN SATURDAY 25TH FEBRUARY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres
ORNATE – Raced wide without cover throughout
FUTURE IDEA – Raced wide without cover from the 700m
