GENERAL
 
Due to an incident in race three the start times of races four, five and six were amended as follows:
 
R4 – 4:05pm
R5 – 4:35pm
R6 – 5:05pm
 
Due to the incident that occurred in race three, all rider changes and late scratching’s are as pr the steward’s summary.
 
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1560 metres
 
WAY BEYOND – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CINNAMON MISSILE – Began awkwardly.
 
LIFETIME QUEST – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
RAPAPORT (NZ) – When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance Jockey A. Butler advised that after traveling well in the early and middle stages his mount felt awkward in its action and failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Wehlow advised that he will consult with the owning group before making a determination on the geldings racing future.
 
STARS DON'T RUST – Began awkwardly.
 
AKATINO (GER) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
GRANT'S PATCH – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in when rounding the home turn.
 
Race 2: BOOK FOR AMATEUR CUP SATURDAY 27TH MAY OPEN
Handicap 1050 metres
 
The track was upgraded to a Good (4) following the event.
 
LEADERSHIP SPILL – Fractious in barriers. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
ASPEN LAD – Began awkwardly.Jockey N. Summers was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer D. Johnston was advised that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of three months and must complete a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards prior to returning to racing.  
 
FRATELLINO – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR ALL YOUR FUNCTIONS QTIS JEWEL
QUALIFIER 2YO Plat 1100 metres
 
The start was delayed when MISHANI TYCOON reared up and became cast in the barrier stall to its outside causing lacerations to BRIGHT BEAN. As a result, both runners were subsequently removed from their stalls, underwent pre-race veterinary examinations and were both declared late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:01pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in MISHANI TYCOON and BRIGHT BEAN be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
0 cents in the dollar for the win - #4
4 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #4
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #1
2 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #6
 
Mr J. Manzelmann the trainer of MISHANI TYCOON was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing.
 
Mr A. Mules the trainer of BRIGHT BEAN was advised the filly would require a veterinary clearance prior to returning to racing.
 
BEAU RAIN – Began awkwardly. Clipped heels and fell dislodging its rider following the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the off-fore leg. As a result of this incident Jockey B. Thomson was transported to hospital by the Queensland Ambulance Service. Jockey B. Thomson will require a medical clearance prior to returning to riding.
 
DRAGON'S SNIP – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
IN EVIDENCE – Despite the best efforts of Jockey R. Wiggins, shifted out abruptly after passing the winning post dislodging its rider resulting in BEAU RAIN clipping heels and falling and SHAMEDY having to take evasive action to avoid heels. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Jockey R. Wiggins was taken to hospital by the Queensland Ambulance Service following the event. Jockey Wiggins will require a medical clearance prior to returning to riding.
 
SHAMEDY – Forced to steady and take evasive action to avoid heels when IN EVIDENCE shifted out abruptly.
 
SUNNYCOAST – Made contact with the enclosure fence prior to the event. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
HOLD ME NOW – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have tied up. Trainer S. Quigley was advised the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to returning to racing.
 
MISHANI TWILIGHT – Began awkwardly.
 
ONLY ONE LOOK – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.
 
Race 4: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres
 
BROADWATER – Declared a late scratching at 3:52pm due to no rider being available. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in BROADWATER be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
4 cents in the dollar for the win - #2
3 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #2
7 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #1
10 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #5
 
BOLD RUMBLE – Began awkwardly making contact with HARVESTA
 
HARVESTA – Bumped on jumping.
 
QUEENSLANDER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISTAKEN IDENTITY – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
 
WREN PLUCKED – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 5: SMART STATE RENTALS QTIS Maiden Plate 1300 metres
 
FLAMING ASTEROID – Slow to begin.
 
RED FLASH – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 300m. Jockey C. McIver was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m.
 
TORQUE WITH PRIDE – Upon entering the home straight was forced to steady when RED FLASH shifted out to obtain clear running. Jockey C. McIver was issued a reprimand for careless riding under AR131(a)
 
WHAKAMIHARO – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
ANGELS LANDING – Declared a late scratching due to no rider being available.
 
FLYING CARMEN – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: RACING AGAIN MONDAY 13TH MARCH BENCHMARK 65
Handicap 1300 metres
 
COURTESY BUS – Inclined to lay in throughout.
 
SUCH A WHIT – Slow to begin.
 
POLICE (NZ) – Jockey C. McIver was issued a reprimand under AR132(5) for his use of the whip 15 times throughout the event.
 
TEST OF WAR – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight,
GHOSTED
 
MISTER LARRABEE – Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised the gelding would be required to trial to satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing.
 
SOUND OF SLEAT – Declared a late scratching at 3:58pm due to no rider being available.
