Due to a delay with his flight rider J Taylor was replaced by A Sewell in race one on THE FRINGE.

The following weight alterations were authorised by Stewards

Race 3: L Morrison +1kg – MISHANI PATRIOT
Race 4: A Layt +1kg – GHOSTED
Race 5: C Whiteley +.5kg – GETOUT OF MY NEIGH

Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 3 Plate 1800 metres

SUPER BAZOOKA – Was found to be lame post-race in the near fore fetlock region and was treated by the on-course veterinarian. Trainer R Williams was advised a veterinary clearance was required prior to the gelding resuming racing.

HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced early and middle stages.

BRAVIO – Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of BRAVIO rider J Stanley advised he received every opportunity, and he believed the gelding had failed to back up from its previous start at Townsville on Thursday the 8th of March.

THE FRINGE – Raced wide over the early stages. Stewards questioned rider A Sewell regarding the tactics he adopted when leading from the 1100m. Mr Sewell advised he was not issued with any specific instructions pre-race from trainer A Jones. He advised that after being caught three wide over the early stages he elected to press forward rather than be caught wide. He further advised as there was no genuine pace his mount found the lead without pressuring it. Trainer Mr A Jones confirmed that he didn’t give any specific instructions to Mr Sewell but he was surprised to see THE FRINGE lead today, however he advised THE FRINGE was supposed to race over 1400m at Springsure on Saturday which was abandoned and was on the fresh side.

Race 2: SKY RACING QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres

The track was upgraded to a Good 3 prior to race two.

I'M BLUEY – Raced greenly over the concluding stages.

OUTBACK STEP – Raced greenly racing into the first bend. When passing the 800m was restrained and checked when racing to the inside of I’M BLUEY (J Stanley) and STEAMING SUN (T Fenlon). At a subsequent inquiry into the incident rider L Morrison advised Stewards that the gelding was racing greenly prior to the incident. She further added although she was placed in tight quarters she believed her own mount had contributed to the incident and over reacted. J Stanley advised all three horses had been racing tight and approaching the bend his horse had stepped in for a stride which may have also contributed. Rider T Fenlon also confirmed although the horses had been racing tight she had kept clear prior to improving to the lead. After hearing from all three riders and viewing the replays of the incident, the Stewards could not be satisfied one horse or rider was responsible and no further action was taken.

DIVINE SIENNA – Bumped on jumping. Treated by the veterinarian after showing signs of heat stress post-race.

STEAMING SUN – Bumped by another runner at the jump. Raced wide over the early stages.

I'M FAMOUS – Jumped outwards at the start bumping with STEAMING SUN. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding after it failed to race competitively.
