Mr Spinks was replaced on his rides as per the summary below. Mr Spinks was advised he requires a medical clearance prior to resuming riding. Apprentice Liv O’Donnell was unwell and replaced on her mounts as per the summary. Ms O’Donnell was advised she requires a medical clearance prior to resuming riding. Jockey Chris Whiteley had a flight delay and was unable to take his mount GETOUT OF MY NEIGH in race one and was replaced by Jason Taylor The following weight alterations were authorised by Stewards.Race 1: A Layt – GHOSTED - + .5kgRace 2: C Lennon – TAMINGO FOLLIES - + .5kgRace 3: R Wiggins – JANOSIK - + 1kgRace 7: R Wiggins – MISSION HOUSE - + .5kg BIT OF FUN, KINGMATE, MARSHY, LEVALET and ANGELS LANDING were all inspected by the veterinarian pre-race after starting within the previous seven days and cleared to start. Trainer Tim Cook was reprimanded under the provisions of AR251 for being in possession of a container that could be used for administering a prohibited substance (unlabelled bottle). Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1560 metres LIFETIME QUEST – Began Awkwardly SUCH A WHIT – Very slow to begin. ZIPSPUR – Slow into stride. In the early stages of the home straight was inclined to hang inwards. BAYERISCHE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey J Murphy was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for his use of the whip on 2 consecutive strides prior to the 100m. GHOSTED – Raced keenly in the early stages. When questioned about the performance of the gelding trainer Wayne Winters advised he was not surprised with the forward showing, given the drop in class from the geldings last start and the strong tempo of today’s race. GETOUT OF MY NEIGH (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Race 2: SKY RACING QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres FLAMING HOMER – Laid in under pressure from the 150m. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed swelling to the near fore knee. Trainer T Cook advised that the gelding would now be sent for a lengthy spell. Mr Cook was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding resuming racing. TORQUE SENSATION – Shortly after the start shifted inwards momentarily impeding TAMINGO FOLLIES. BIT OF FUN – Jumped in at the start and bumped MISHANI JEWEL. MISHANI JEWEL – Crowded for room upon jumping. Lay outwards in the early stages of the home straight. KINGMATE – Jumped outwards at the start and bumped MISHANI JEWEL. MISHANI PLATINUM – Lay inwards and struck the running rail passing the 650m. TAMINGO FOLLIES – Bumped at the start. Impeded for clear running shortly after the start. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a warning was placed on the filly for a poor performance. Race 3: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR YOUR FUNCTIONS Maiden Plate 1200 metres GLOWSTICKS – Slow to muster early speed. Jockey N Day was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip seven times prior to the 100m two more than permitted. LEVALET – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Lay outwards rounding the home turn. ANGELS LANDING – Raced keenly in the early stages. CHILENA – Raced wide in the early stages. Gave ground over the concluding stages. Stewards requested a veterinary examination of the mare post-race after jockey J Taylor expressed concerns regarding the manner it finished the race off. The horse had however been taken from the track prior to the examination being conducted with the Stewards intending to speak to trainer Mr Bannon in relation to this matter. JANOSIK (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. SAVAROSA – Was fractious in the mounting enclosure dislodging rider C Lennon. Mr Lennon was examined by QAS and cleared to take his mount. SAVAROSA was then led to the course proper to be mounted by Mr Lennon. SAVAROSA was again fractious and reared on several occasions and Mr Lennon was unable to take his mount in the race. SAVAROSA was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:51pm. The following deductions applied: 1st JANOSIK Win 3c Place 8c2nd GLOWSTICK Place 2c3rd TYCOON BABY Place 18c Due to the mares previous pre-race behaviour the connections were advised SAVAROSA would be required to complete two satisfactory trials. Trainer J Campeao advised it was his intention to retire the mare from his stable. TYCOON BABY – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Race 4: BOOK FOR AMATEUR CUP SAT 27TH MAY Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres Prior to the running of race 4 the track was upgraded to a Good 3. AIR BLUE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted inwards onto the barrier partition and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages with cover. When questioned regarding the performance rider J Murphy reported that the gelding was unsettled in the barriers and after beginning awkwardly he settled at the back of the field despite intending to settle on the pace and failed to improve when placed under pressure. Stewards requested a post-race veterinarian examination which revealed a small laceration to the left lip. FIVE BULLS – Slow to begin. SINGLE HONOR – Jumped outward at start bumping IXELLES. Improved wide in the middle stages. ANNAKURI – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. KEEP ON FIGHTING – Began awkwardly and as a result slow to begin. Made the bend awkwardly near the 500m and shifted ground outwards. RUN PEGGY RUN – Fractious prior to the start. Began awkwardly. IXELLES – Jumped inwards at start bumping SINGLE HONOR. Race 5: SMARTSTATE RENTALS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1100 metres Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards viewed the photo finish of the deadheat for third placing of HURTLE and ORNATE. Trainers R Vale and G Holt also viewed the photo. After hearing submissions from both trainers and Judge Mr S Bryant the Stewards acting pursuant to AR214(4)(b) amended the placings prior to declaration of correct weight. The official placings are now 1st CAPTAIN FOX 2nd NOR FORCE, 3rd ORNATE, 4th HURTLE. EMILEE'S EMPIRE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey W. D’Avila was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip six times prior to the 100m one more than permitted. CAPTAIN FOX – Over raced middle stages. HURTLE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide early stages. NOR FORCE – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. DEFROSTED – Over raced in the middle stages. ORNATE – Slow to begin. Raced wide early and middle stages. BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Apprentice I. Teh was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m two more than permitted. Race 6: STARCUT FLOWERS Class 3 Plate 1300 metres BOLD ZIP – Momentarily help up for clear running approaching the 300m. BRAZEN BRECCIA – Hampered for room on jumping was slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority. COLD POWER – Raced wide in the middle stages. FAR REACHING – Began awkwardly and jumped in at the start hampering BRAZEN BRECCIA. Raced keenly in the early stages. OSLEN (NZ) – Jumped outwards at start. ST MORITZ – Slow to begin. Race 7: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 11TH APRIL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1560 metres NATIVE BEE – Had to be steadied just short of the finish when CITY MISSION shifted outwards. Jockey J Murphy was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip six times prior to the 100m one more than permitted. HE WILL ACHEEV – Over raced in the middle stages. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight. HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Slow into stride. MILKY ROCKET – Improved onto heels approaching the 800m and had to be steadied. CITY MISSION – Had to be restrained approaching the course proper when READYENTIME shifted out. Shifted outwards over the final stages. IN BEL'S SHADOW – Held up for clear running passing the 400m. MISSION HOUSE – Raced wide early. Over raced in the middle stages. Cast an off-hind shoe passing the 200m. READYENTIME – Approaching the course proper lay outwards causing CITY MISSION to be restrained.
