GENERAL
The following weight alterations were authorised.
Race 3: C Whiteley – PRIZED BENEFIT - + 1kg – 55kg
Race 8: C Whiteley – CAPTAIN FOX - + 1kg – 55kg
 
After an inspection of the track prior to the commencement of racing the track conditions were upgraded to a Good 4.
 
Race 1: TAB MACKAY CLASSIC QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
BUSH DIAMOND – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
HEY BULL – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
MISTREY EMPEROR – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide through the early stages. Hung outwards in the home straight when placed under pressure.
 
COMBAT MISSION – Began awkwardly.
 
MISHANI CIENNA – Hung inwards rounding the home bend.
 
MISHANI STAR – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: SKY RACING QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
DESERT MOON – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
READY TO GROOVE – Difficult to load. Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Shifted out momentarily passing the 800m.
 
ANDIRON – Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned in regard to the below market performance apprentice E. Molloy stated that the filly felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed that the filly was shin sore and displayed a slow post-race recovery. Trainer T. Smith was advised that the filly would require a veterinarian clearance prior to racing again.
 
MIA'S DREAM – Lay out when placed under pressure in the final stages.
 
BELLA BIANCA – Raced wide early. Raced keenly in the early stages. Had to be steadied approaching the 800m when READY TO GROOVE shifted out momentarily. Lay inwards shortly afterwards.
 
KINGMATE – Shifted wider in the early stages of the home straight to obtain clear racing room.  Lay out when placed under pressure in the concluding stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: 3 BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS Maiden Handicap
1560 metres
 
VICTORY'S GHOST – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Bumped and had to be momentarily restrained to avoid heels approaching the 250m when GLOW STICKS shifted ground outwards to obtain clear running. At a subsequent inquiry jockey J. Stanley was found guilty of careless riding and severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a).When considering penalty Stewards took into account the severity of the interference, the contributing outwards movement by FLYING CARMEN, and Mr Stanley’s excellent riding record.
 
GLOWSTICKS – Over raced in the early stages. Shifted ground outwards off the heels of FLYING CARMEN approaching the 250m to obtain clear running.
 
FLYING CARMEN – Shifted outwards rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
BERGKAMP – Over raced in the early and middle stages having to be restrained to avoid heels for a considerable distance.
 
PRIZED BENEFIT – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Shifted off heels in the concluding stages to obtain clear running.
 
 
Race 4: INSPEC INDUSTRIES Class 3 Plate1560 metres
 
BAYERISCHE – Began awkwardly and very slow to begin as a result. Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Impeded shortly after the start by MONEY MUNCHER. Awkwardly placed on heels at the 1300m and had to be steadied.
 
MONEY MUNCHER – Began awkwardly. Shifted out shortly after the start impeding HUNUA HANK. Made the bend awkwardly passing the 1400m. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight until the 200m.
 
GETOUT OF MY NEIGH (NZ) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
HARVESTA – Jumped inwards at the start.
 
IN BEL'S SHADOW – Jumped inwards at the start bumping KEEP ON FIGHTING.
 
KEEP ON FIGHTING – Jumped out at the start bumping IN BEL’S SHADOW.
 
QUEENSLANDER – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 5: BOOK FOR AMATEUR CUP SAT 27TH MAY Class 6 Plate1300 metres
 
KNIGHT'S SWORD – Raced wide early. When questioned in regard to the below market performance of the gelding Jockey R. Wiggins could offer no explanation. Trainer R Vale advised it was KNIGHT’S SWORD first race at Mackay and believed it may have contributed to the performance and it is his intention to have bloods taken from the gelding in upcoming days.  
 
MOHAHNA – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
AGUSTAWYND – Began awkwardly.
 
IN YOUR ELEMENT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BOLD PEDRO – Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISTER LARRABEE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: SMARTSTATE RENTALS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
WINE TALKS – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the 400m. Jockey R.Wiggins reported upon returning to the scales that his mount shied at a shadow just short of the winning post.
 
SWISS ELEMENT – Raced wide early. Over raced in the middle stages.
 
JUST LET IT OUT – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide through the majority of the event.
 
ARTIC SUMMER – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Murphy reported upon returning to the scales that the mare felt lethargic throughout the event and made abnormal breathing sounds. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed that the mare showed signs of poor post-race recovery.
 
FLYING SHAMUS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 7: INSPEC INDUSTRIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 Handicap1050 metres
 
DIRTY OR DRY – Bumped shortly after the start by BIT OF FUN.
 
IMAGINE THAT – Made the bend awkwardly at the 600m and steadied off heels as a result. Shifted outwards approaching the 100m.
 
SPANISH SPIRIT – Fractious in the stabling area and mounting enclosure pre-race.
 
BIT OF FUN – Bumped by TAMINGO FOLLIES at start. Bumped with DIRTY OR DRY shortly after the start.
 
TAMINGO FOLLIES – Jumped in at start and bumped with BIT OF FUN. Trainer J. Manzelmann advised that it was his intention to restrict the filly to Country Non-TAB events in its upcoming engagements.
 
 
Race 8: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 9TH MAY OPEN Handicap1050 metres
 
BRAD – Began awkwardly and bumped with TRU BLU TANGO. Held up in the early stages of the home straight and shifted wider to obtain clear running.
 
CABALO ESCURO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
HAN DYNASTY – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room when improving near the 200m.
 
TRU BLU TANGO – Bumped by BRAD on jumping. Trainer R. Vale will be spoken to by Stewards in relation to a late gear notification.
 
EMILEE'S EMPIRE – Bounded in the air upon jumping. Raced wide early. Lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIRFINA – Bounded in the air on jumping. Shifted out abruptly shortly after the 150m. Stewards enquired into the incident when SIRFINA shifted outwards near the 150m. After questioning jockey’s A Sewell (EMILEE’S EMPIRE), T Fenlon and T Leslight (HANS DYNASTY) it was established SIRFINA had shifted outwards on its own accord as no contact had been made with HAN DYNASTY which was improving between SIRFINA and EMILEE’S EMPIRE. Ms Fenlon also advised SIRFINA was commencing to tire and had changed legs when the incident occurred.
