Race 1: TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1100 metres TORQUE SENSATION – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Reared on jumping with the gelding’s head making contact with the upper barrier partition. Shifted in abruptly making contact with the inside running rail and as a result Apprentice J Doolan lost her near side iron. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice J Doolan dismounted shortly after the finish post after feeling nauseous and was examined by QPS where she was stood down for her remaining rides. Apprentice Doolan was replaced as per the stewards summary. Apprentice Doolan was advised that she would require a medical clearance and complete a cognitive test prior to any future race ride. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lethargic. Connections were advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate and veterinary certificate prior to its next future race start. JUST LET IT OUT – Shifted in on jumping and bumped with SIZZLING GAL. SIZZLING GAL – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Dipped on jumping. Bumped with JUST LET IT OUT shortly after the start. Race 2: SKY RACING QTIS Two-Year-Old and Three-Year-OldMaiden Handicap 1100 metres ALL ELEMENTS – Jockey J Murphy advised that the gelding felt flat throughout the event and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have small lacerations to its off-hind leg. HE'S THE ONE – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Slow to begin. THE COMPANY – Raced wide throughout the event. MAMA'S MAN – Jumped away awkwardly.Lost the off-hind plate near the finish line. GABBY'S READY – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance jockey C Whiteley advised that he felt the filly was coming towards the end of its campaign. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities. LOUIE GREYSTAR – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Commenced to over race passing the 800m. ONLY ONE LOOK – Slow to begin. Over raced throughout the event. Had to be steadied when improved onto heels over the concluding stages. COMBAT MISSION – When questioned regarding today’s improved performance the connections advised that the stable had altered the filly’s training regime, however they were surprised with the forward showing. Race 3: BOOK FUNCTIONS IN EVENT CENTRE Maiden Handicap1300 metres EHOR SENOR – When questioned regarding today’s performance jockey R Wiggins advised that gelding was under pressure for the majority of the race however he could offer no explanation for the performance. Trainer C Taylor advised that the gelding may be better suited to a bigger track rather than the turning nature of the Mackay track. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey R Wiggins was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip seven times prior to the 100m, two more than permitted. ATHENA'S SECRET – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under the pressure and had to be straightened approaching the 100m. LEVALET – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. LUCIA MARIA – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with the inside barrier partition. When questioned regarding the filly’s performance, jockey J Stanley stated he was disappointed in today’s run and in his opinion the filly failed to back up from its previous start. ST ROSE – Laid out passing the 200m when attempting to improve its position. SUPER ROOSTER – Improved onto heels and had to be steadied approaching the 1000m and made the bend awkwardly. Race 4: SMARTSTATE RENTALS OPEN Handicap 1050 metres MONTENEGRO MAN – Bumped with CAPTAIN FOX passing the 800m for a number of strides. CAPTAIN FOX – Slow to begin and raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Improved onto the heels of ACOUSTIX approaching the 800m and had to steady. Bumped with MONTENEGRO MAN for a number of strides passing the 800m. DR NEIGH – Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. SIRFINA – When questioned in the presence of her riding master and trainer of SIRFINA T Cook regarding the tactics used in today’s event apprentice E Molloy advised her tactics were to take the lead as per the geldings normal racing pattern. Ms Molloy further stated she was aware she obtained a substantial lead as SIRFINA is best suited to be left alone on its own accord or it will fight the rider to the detriment of the horse. Mr Cook confirmed the explanation of Ms Molloy and further advised SIRFINA only gave ground in the concluding stages which was consistent with its racing pattern when it fails to see out the final stages of its races. Stewards noted Apprentice Molloy’s comments. LEICA SPECIAL – Jumped away awkwardly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 5: MACKAY CUP SATURDAY 22ND JULY BENCHMARK 55Handicap 1200 metres CLASS OF ROYALTY – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Raced wide in the early stages of the event. EROE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event. HARVESTA – Over raced in the early stages of the event. NUKE – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. PINDARRA'S DREAM – Was unable to obtain clear racing room for the majority of the home straight. OLD SCHOOL – Had to be steadied momentarily when crossed by CLASS OF ROYALTY approaching the 800m. Apprentice M Apel was shown the replay of the incident for educational purposes. ALEACO – Raced keenly in the middle stages of the event. BRIGHT TIARA – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed minor lacerations to its off-hind hock. APRIL LOVE – Laid in passing the 200m, momentarily placing PINDARRA’S DREAM in restricted room. BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Jumped away awkwardly. Apprentice Isabella Teh was fined $600 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m, four more than permitted. Race 6: TEHLIA'S 30TH CELEBRATION QTIS Class 3 Handicap1100 metres THISLAND IS MYLAND – When questioned regarding the gelding leading in today’s event, which is in contrast to its previous races, jockey W Satherley advised that his tactics were to attempt to jump on terms with the other runners after drawing the inside barrier as the horse was carrying a heavy weight and he did not want to position too far back in the running. He also advised after jumping well he elected to continue to push forward on his mount. He was aware the gelding had previously been fighting its riders when settling further back. Trainer G Green confirmed that explanation of Mr Satherley. Stewards were aware that the runners which normally raced on the pace had encountered difficulties at the start which resulted in them settling further back than anticipated. Stewards noted the comments of both Mr Satherley and Mr Green. THE KRONE – Reared on jumping and shifted out abruptly making heavy contact with CHILENA. Made the bend approaching the 600m awkwardly, bumping with UNO ARTIE. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings record for rearing on jumping. UNO ARTIE – Jumped away awkwardly. Bumped with THE KRONE approaching the 600m. EVERLASTING STARS – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. MERIDA'S BOW – Had to be steadied with ELVIARE shifted in passing the 200m. Apprentice N Seymour was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MERIDA’S BOW which had to steady momentarily. CHILENA – Made heavy contact with THE KRONE on jumping when it shifted out abruptly. ELVIARE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in making heavy contact with CAT IN THE RAINE. Shifted inwards passing the 200m. CAT IN THE RAINE – Shifted out shortly after the start and made heavy contact with ELVAIRE. Race 7: NQ WATER SERVICES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap1560 metres Prior to the declaration of correct weight a Protest was lodged by jockey A Sewell the rider of fourth placed MILKY ROCKET against third placed VANCOUVER BAY ridden by apprentice I Teh, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking into consideration the evidence of the riders and the connections, viewing the stewards patrol footage the Stewards dismissed the Protest as they could not be comfortably satisfied that MILKY ROCKET would have finished in front of VANCOUVER BAY had the interference not occurred. When considering the matter the Stewards took into the manner in which the horses finished off the race and the margin between the runners. AIDENABET – Over raced in the early stages and become awkwardly placed on heels. Improved wide in the middle stages of the event. Appeared awkward in its action over the concluding stages and was not preserved with by jockey A Butler. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. CAMPIONE – Over raced in the early and middle stages. VANCOUVER BAY – Lay inwards in the home straight and had to be straightened by apprentice rider I Teh. WHISKEY ROW – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after connections advised the gelding had rubbed its hip in the float on its way to the racecourse. The examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and the gelding was passed fit to start. MILKY ROCKET – Held up for clear racing room for the majority of the home straight. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages when VANCOUVER BAY lay inwards and had to be steadied. SERENATA – Raced wide in the early stages in the event. Race 8: RACING AGAIN SATURDAY 1ST JULY BENCHMARK 70Handicap 1560 metres STUBAI – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. ENUFF HE SAID – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. GHOSTED – Shifted in on jumping, bumping BRAZEN BRECCIA. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.Apprentice N Seymour was advised to exercise more caution in future circumstances when allowing her mount to shift inwards when only marginally clear of other runners. SUCH A WHIT – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly hampering RECONDITE. Was held up for clear racing room until the 200m. SHADOW GODDESS – Bumped on jumping by MISS SCALINI which shifted in. Raced wide throughout the event. Approved onto heels passing the 600m and as a result shifted wider. MISS SCALINI – Had to shift off heels inside the final 100m when GHOSTED laid inwards. RECONDITE (IRE) – Hampered on jumping by SUCH A WHIT which shifted out abruptly. BRAZEN BRECCIA – Shifted out on jumping bumping GHOSTED.
