SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Adjourned enquiry Mackay 22 June 2023
After taking initial evidence in relation to the conduct of Trainer A Coome following the running race eight, Stewards adjourned the matter for further evidence to be presented. No further evidence was provided to Stewards with no action required.

GENERAL

The following weight alterations were authorised by Stewards:

Race 5: L Tilley – ORNATE - + 1kg – 56kg
Race 7: C Whiteley – CAPTAIN FOX - + .5kg – 54.5kg
Race 8: C Whiteley – FORTIFIED - + .5kg – 54.5kg
Race 8: J Stanley – PLAY ME NOW - + .5kg – 54.5kg


Race 1: LEKETEK ELECTRICIANS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1800 metres

SHADOW GODDESS – Bumped on jumping and as a result was slow to begin.

KOONUNGA HILL – Jumped away awkwardly and blundered shortly afterwards with the jockey L Morrison becoming unbalanced. Raced keenly throughout the event.

SARNIA – Raced wide through the early stages of the event.

VANA STAR – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

IN YOUR ELEMENT – Briefly raced wide through the middle stages of the event.

HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Slow to begin.

KEEP ON FIGHTING – Slow to begin.

CHOOKY CHEERLEADER – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with SHADOW GODDESS.


Race 2: BAGULEY BUILD QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1300 metres

ALTAR BOY – Bumped with CITY MISSION near the 350m.

UNDER THE LIMIT – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

CITY MISSION – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Bumped with ALTAR BOY near the 350m.

LADY MASQUERADE – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.

VALTINO – Jumped away awkwardly. Bumped with DIAMOND MONEY shortly after entering the home straight. Laid out over the final stages of the event.

DIAMOND MONEY – Jumped away awkwardly. Bumped with VALTINO shortly after entering the home straight.

MISHANI JEWEL – Jumped away awkwardly and dipped shortly after the start.

KUSUNOKI – Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that KUSUNOKI would be stood down due to being uncompetitive to NON-TAB meetings and until it proves more competitive.

MISHANI PLATINUM – Had to be steadied near the 800m when improving onto heels.


Race 3: 3 MANDY ATHERTON PROFESSIONALS Maiden Plate 1200 metres

The start of the event was delayed due to Apprentice T Fenlon being examined by the on-course QAS after being dislodged from TAMINGO FOLLIES en-route to the barriers. Apprentice T Fenlon was assessed and cleared to ride in the event.

IMPERIUM – Hampered shortly after the start when DIVINE KAMEHALANI shifted in and when LAVALET was carried outwards.

CALDANTE – Raced wide through the early stages of the event.

KEY TO THE ZOU – Following the running of the event, Jockey J Stanley stated that his mount hung in throughout the event and tired over the concluding stages.

LEVALET – Carried out shortly after the start hampering IMPERIUM.

THE EIGHTH I AM – Shifted in shortly after the start hampering ONLY ONE LOOK. Raced wide with cover in the early stages of the event.

AVID DIVA – Raced wide throughout the event.

DIVINE KAMEHALANI – Shifted in shortly after the start hampering IMPERIUM. Raced wide throughout the event. Held up for clear racing room prior to entering the home straight. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages of the event.

FAIRYBOWER FLYER – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.

LUVIN' OUR GRACE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out onto LEVALET carrying it out.

LUCIA MARIA – Sharply shifted off heels approaching the 100m.

ONLY ONE LOOK – Slow to begin. Hampered shortly after the start by THE EIGHTH I AM which had shifted inwards.

LOUIE GREYSTAR – Raced wide throughout the event.



Race 4: J & C ELECTRICAL SERVICES RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap
1100 metres

The start of the event was delayed due to several runners proving difficult to load.

DIAMOND HANDS – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.

BOLD ZIP – Jumped away awkwardly skying its head and as a result was slow to begin.

PRIVATE SECTOR – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Shifted off heels near the 150m to obtain clear racing room.

PSYCHOKINESIS – Raced wide throughout the event.

BRIGHT TIARA – Slow to begin. Become awkwardly placed on heels near the 600m and had to be steadied.

FLYING SHAMUS – Shifted out abruptly near the 150m and had to be straightened by its rider.

PINOCCHIO LASS – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid out on the bend passing the 500m.

CHATILLY – As Apprentice J Doolan was unable to make weight on her mount she was replaced by Apprentice M Apel as per the steward’s summary. Apprentice J Doolan was reprimanded under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Doolan previous good record in relation to this rule. Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

ADMIRAL ASH – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride after improving onto heels near the 800m and had to be steadied.


Race 5: DRONE TECH SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 70 Handicap1100 metres

YULONG SOVEREIGN – When questioned regarding the performance in today’s event, Jockey R Wiggins advised he was disappointed in today’s run and could offer no explanation for the performance. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.

INVINCIBLE JET – Raced wide throughout the event. Awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 200m.

STAR BANNER – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout the event.

COCHRANE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event. Was dictated inwards over the final stages of the event.

DELUXE LEGEND – Shifted out on jumping bumping ORNATE. Raced wide throughout the event. Raced in restricted room passing the 200m.

SIRFINA – Bounded on jumping.

WHOSHOTTHEMAGICIAN – Slow into stride and was crowded for room shortly afterwards.

WANNA TWEET – Slow to begin. Held up on the bend near the 500m and for majority of the home straight and went to the line not fully tested.

ORNATE – Bumped on jumping by DELUXE LEGEND. Raced wide throughout the event.


Race 6: S.H. TAIT & CO CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1300 metres

COUNT OF CARFORD – Jockey L Morrison was spoken to by stewards regarding the manner in which she eased the pace approaching the 900m.

SRINI – Improved onto heels approaching the 900m and had to be restrained. Improved to the inside of ABSOLUTE CHARMER resulting in KAHAYLAAN and HIGHER LOVE being forced wider on the track. Placed in restricted room for some distance near the 800m. Shifted out at the 200m to obtain clear racing room. Apprentice N Olzard was shown the stewards patrol footage for educational purposes.

SUCH A WHIT – Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

POLICE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout the event.

UNASSAILABLE – En-route to the barriers UNASSAILABLE displaced one of its front plates. The shoe was unable to be re-shod prior to the start and was declared a late scratching at 3:37pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all bets placed on UNASSAILABLE be refunded with the following deductions to be applied to successful bets:

1st TYCOON BABY – 8c Win, 7c Place
2nd CLASS OF ROYALTY – 10c Place
3rd SRINI – 10c Place

DEMURRAL – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.

HIGHER LOVE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event.

WINE TALKS – Slow to begin.

KAHAYLAAN – Over raced in the early stages of the event and had placed it’s rider in some difficulty.


Race 7: 7 LADBROKES MACKAY NEWMARKET OPEN HANDICAP 1300 metres

Correct weight was delayed to allow Trainer L Gough and jockey J Stanley of CONSTANT FLIGHT to view footage of the home straight in relation to the second placed ISIS CAMILLA. After viewing the footage correct weight was declared on the judges placings with the connections not wishing to proceed with a Protest.

AXE – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

DOCTOR ZOUS – When questioned regarding the improved performance in today’s event, Trainer D Hansen advised that DOCTOR ZOUS appreciated the extra distance and received an economical run from a favourable draw.

SMART IMAGE – Jockey L Morrison was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip six times prior to the 100m one more than permitted.

MONTENEGRO MAN – Dipped shortly after the start.

CONSTANT FLIGHT – Bumped with READY FOR MAGIC on jumping. Bumped with ISIS CARMELLA when ISIS CARMELLA shifted outwards near the 200m.

ISIS CARMELLA – Bumped with CONSTANT FLIGHT near the 200m when shifting ground outwards.

BRAD – Jumped away awkwardly striking the inside barrier partition.

CABALO ESCURO – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event. Jockey C Lennon was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip six times prior to the 100m one more than permitted.

CAPTAIN FOX – Fractious in the barriers prior to the jumping.

SAVOURY (NZ) – Slow to begin.

READY FOR MAGIC – Bumped on jumping by CONSTANT FLIGHT. Raced wide throughout the event.


Race 8: BLACKS REAL ESTATE H.L. BLACK MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 1800 metres

NAMAZU – Was impeded at the start when BAYERISCHE shifted inwards onto THE DRILLER which bumped with NAMAZU. Improved wide near the 1300m before improving to the lead near the 1100m and establishing an extensive lead. When questioned regarding the tactics used in today’s event, Trainer R Vale stated that it was their intention to lead and try and not get boxed in with a position on the rail. Apprentice M Apel confirmed the instructions given by Mr Vale. She further stated NAMAZU is a big long striding horse and due to this is deceptive with its speed. She acknowledged she was not aware of the lead she had established due to the deceptive nature of its action.

FORTIFIED (NZ) – Bounded at the start and as a result was slow to begin.

BAYERISCHE – Shifted in abruptly after jumping making heavy contact with THE DRILLER. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.

THE DRILLER – Was badly impeded shortly after jumping.

DIASONIC – Shifted in on jumping bumping with QUALITY ASSET. Had to be restrained when NAMAZU (Apprentice M Apel) shifted inwards when insufficiently clear approaching the crossing with approximately 1500m to run. Apprentice M Apel was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear. When determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Apel’s inexperience.
