RACE 5 HUNTLEYS HEAVY EQUIPMENT BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP (1400 M)
 
Jockey Warwick Satherley, the rider of CANTOR, was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
Jockey Warwick Satherley was reprimanded under the provisions of LR48 for leaving the course without seeking permission from the Stewards.
 
GENERAL
 
As Apprentice Tahlia Fenlon and Jockey Jason Taylor were both unable to attend today’s meeting, rider replacements were made as per the steward’s race day summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
 
Race 2 – Nathan Day – +1kg
Race 4 – Ryan Wiggins – +1kg
 
 
 
Race 1: Sky Racing QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap
1300 Metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards considered a dual objection lodged by Jockey R Wiggins, the rider of fourth placegetter EYES ARE LION, against the third placed CHUCKA DUMMY, ridden by Apprentice N Seymour, and the winner MISHANI AVIATOR, ridden by Apprentice J Doolan - alleging interference passing the 200m. After hearing evidence from all relevant parties and viewing the stewards patrol footage, stewards found that passing the 200m, MISHANI AVIATOR had shifted in onto CHUCKA DUMMY, resulting in that runner being  initially dictated inwards across EYES ARE LION which was checked in this incident. As stewards could not be comfortably satisfied had this interference not occurred that EYES ARE LION would have finished in front of either MISHANI AVIATOR and CHUCKA DUMMY and as such stewards dismissed both objections and declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers.
 
CHUCKA DUMMY – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped with EYES ARE LION. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Dictated inwards near the 200m when MISHANI AVIATOR shifted in. Apprentice N Seymour (CHUCKA DUMMY) was reprimanded for failing to straighten her mount and allowing it to shift in further tightening EYES ARE LION.AR131 (a).
 
HE'S THE ONE – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages of the event. Hung in onto the heels of CHUCKA near the 250m and commenced to tire thereafter.
 
EYES ARE LION – Bumped on jumping by CHUCKA DUMMY which had shifted in. Severely checked and had to avoid the heels of CHUCKA DUMMY near the 200m when it was dictated inwards by MISHANI AVIATOR which also had shifted ground inwards. Apprentice J Doolan (MISHANI AVIATOR) was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing her mount to initially shift in when insufficiently clear.
 
MISHANI AVIATOR – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and dipped shortly after the start. Approaching the 200m, shifted in onto CHUCKA DUMMY which moved inwards across EYES OF LION which was severely checked.
 
SERGEANT'S PRIDE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: Ladbroke it! Class 3 Handicap 1560 Metres
 
The start of the event was delayed approximately 5 minutes due to the protest hearing from Race 1.
 
DIASONIC – Shifted in on jumping, hampering SHE’S OUR EMPRESS. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Apprentice A Donald was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) for using her whip fifteen times in totality.   
 
WHISKEY ROW – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
BOLD ENFORCER – Shifted out on jumping, hampering SHE’S OUR EMPRESS.
 
SHE'S OUR EMPRESS – Hampered on jumping by DIASONIC which had shifted in and BOLD ENFORCER which had shifted out. Raced in restricted room passing the 300m before obtaining clear racing room approaching the 200m.
 
MISHANI JEWEL – Overraced in the early stages.
 
 
Race 3: Smartstate Rentals BM58 Handicap 1800 Metres
 
LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance in today’s event, Jockey A Butler reported that he was disappointed in the performance and stated that his mount was off the bit in the middle stages and had failed to run on over the remainder of the event. Jockey Butler also stated that upon the completion of the event he felt that the gelding was showing signs of soreness. LETS TORQUE A DEELunderwent a post-race veterinary examination and no abnormalities were detected.
 
RECONDITE (IRE) – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
VANCITY – Had to steady near the 1600m to avoid the heels of SARNIA which had shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice J Doolan (SARNIA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that she allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of VANCITY which had to steady to avoid heels. Apprentice J Doolan’s licence was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight the 17th of August and to expire midnight the 25th of August.
 
KEEP ON FIGHTING – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: Ladbrokes Odds Surge Maiden Plate 1050 Metres
 
The start of the event was delayed after FAY FAYE broke through the barriers prior to jumping. Underwent a veterinary examination behind the gates and was cleared to start. The start was further delayed for FAY FAYE to be re-saddled.
 
FAIRYBOWER FLYER – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed over pressure in the home straight.
 
FAY FAYE – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
LESOTHO DIAMOND – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with STILLWATER.
 
MY DAD'S BETTER – Stood flat footed on jumping and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that MY DAD’S BETTER would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start.
 
ROWBOSITI – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with TALANTINO. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
STILLWATER – Jumped inwards, bumping with LESOTHO DIAMOND. Had to be checked and steadied to avoid the heels of ROWBOSITI which had shifted in when insufficiently clear at the 250 metres. Jockey J Murphy was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
TALANTINO – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with ROWBOSITI.
 
ZAZ IN PARIS – Stewards granted permission for ZAZ IN PARIS to race bare in both hind legs after Trainer J Manzelmann advised the mare proved difficult to be re-shod prior to attending the course. Commenced to overrace near the 800m, hung in and struck the inside running rail. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners.
 
EXOGROOVE – Raced disappointingly and was examined by the club Veterinary Surgeon who reported no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 5: Happy Birthday Sharyn Class 3 Plate 1050 Metres
 
ABSOLUTE LEGEND – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
INVINCIBLE JET – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, bumping with PRIVATE SECTOR. Raced wide throughout.
 
NIC ME SOME – Bumped on jumping by THE KRONE.
 
PITCHFORK – Raced wide throughout. Commenced to hang out momentarily when crossed by SCHATZI near the 800m,.
 
THE KRONE – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Shifted in on jumping and bumped with NIC ME SOME. Held up for clear racing room momentarily when entering the home straight.
 
UNO ARTIE – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Had to be steadied to avoid heels near the 400m.
 
PRIVATE SECTOR – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping INVINCIBLE JET.
 
SCHATZI – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
 
Race 6: Ladbrokes Yard Comments 0 - 55 Handicap 1200 Metres
 
BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Slow to begin.
 
DIAMOND HANDS – Slow to begin. Had to severely checked and lose considerable ground near the 900m . An enquiry was opened into the reason for the tightening, and it was established that CHATILLY (N Seymour) had eased the pace which resulted in SUPREME PRINCE (W Satherley), PRETTY AS (N Day), YUBETIDO (W D’Avilla) and DIAMOND HANDS (A Butler) all being crowded for racing room. No blame could be apportioned to any particular rider. DIAMOND HANDS then raced in restricted room for majority of the home straight before obtaining clear racing room near the 150m.
 
BOLD ZIP – Slow to begin.
 
SKYMASTER – Stewards granted permission for SKYMASTER to race in Blinkers. Trainer J Wehlow was fined $200 under the provisions of AR106 for presenting SKYMASTER to race with the incorrect gear. Slow to begin.
 
YUBETIDO –Raced in restricted room in the home straight before obtaining clear racing room near the 200m.
 
PRETTY AS – Held up for clear racing room before shifting out near the 200m.
 
SCARLET DESIRE – Raced in restricted room in the home straight before obtaining clear racing room near the 100m.
 
 
Race 7: Racing again Tues 22nd August BM70 Handicap 1100 Metres
 
ASPEN LAD – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SPLASHER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
SABOR – Elected to shift out near the 300m to obtain clear racing room. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
