GENERAL

As Jockey R. Wiggins was unable to attend today’s meeting due to transport difficulties, rider replacements are as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

As Jockey C Lennon was unable to make the weight in race 2, stewards permitted Jockey J Taylor to ride ONLY ONE LOOK. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey Lennon was fined $200 under AR190(3).

Trainer S Quigley was fined $300 under the provisions of AR251(a)(i) after being found in possession of RAPIGEL in his race day bag.

Trainer D Johnston was reprimanded under the provisions of AR251(a)(i) after being found with a instrument that could be used to administer a substance to a horse.


Race 1: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1800 Metres)

SHADOW GODDESS – Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward to take up a leading position. Hampered over the concluding stages. Apprentice N Seymour reported that her mount overraced in the middle stages and as a result failed to finish the race off.

PRINCE AKEEM – Passing the 1200m had to be restrained off heels when overracing. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

BRAND NEW (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey J Stanley reported that his mount travelled well in the early stages but when placed under pressure passing the 600m his mount began to weaken and was disappointed in its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Rider reported that he struck his leg on the barrier partition on jumping.

ZELSON – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight when awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening BRAND NEW (NZ). Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and was inconvenienced by DOOM DIVA who shifted in and away from PRINCE AKEEM.

DOOM DIVA – Overraced in the early stages. Hampered over the concluding stages.

HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout the event.

ATHENA'S SECRET – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.


Race 2: LADBROKE IT! QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap (1050 Metres)

REPLACE THE ACE – Slow to begin.

HARCASION – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

HARSH TRUTH – Hampered on jumping. Overraced in the early stages.

GROVERS PREDICTION – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the Filly to be Lame in the near hind leg. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race start.

ONLY ONE LOOK – Jumped away awkwardly.


Race 3: BOOK FOR MELBOURNE CUP RACEDAY 7TH NOV QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Hand (1050 Metres)

OUR BENEFIT – Raced wide throughout. Laid in throughout the event.

ROBUST BOY – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Hampered approaching the winning post.

THE CRANOCH – Laid in under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.

CHUCKA DUMMY – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

COBBO – Raced green under pressure in the straight and passing the 200m was momentarily inconvenienced by DONMORE GIRL which shifted out.

ERRONEOUS – Raced wide throughout.

DONMORE GIRL –Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid out under pressure in the straight and passing the 200m, shifted out contacting COBBO. Carried in approaching the 100m and was obliged to steady and shift out to improve into clear running.

MISHANI TWILIGHT – Slow into stride. Rider reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding in the early stages of the event until entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer Mr J Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race start.

MISHANI TYCOON – Knuckled on jumping.


Race 4: SMARTSTATE RENTALS Maiden Handicap (1100 metres)

RED FLASH – Raced in restricted room shortly after jumping. Raced wide throughout.

JUST LIKE ROSIE – Raced wide throughout.

MISS DE BOOM – Hampered on jumping.

TO THE MANOR BORN – Hampered on jumping. Rider reported that she become concerned with the action of the Filly and as such elected to not place TO THE MANOR BORN under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the Filly to be shin sore. Trainer Mr J Manzelmann was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race start.

C'EST BELLE – Laid out rounding the turn.

MISHANI CAPTIVE – Hampered on jumping.


Race 5: BOOK FOR XMAS MEETING SATURDAY 16TH DEC BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1560 Metres)

ROCK 'N' SOL – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

WHISKEY ROW – Overraced early and middle stages. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

FLYING CARMEN – Rider reported that he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

SCARLET DESIRE – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 6: R & T PUMPS OPEN Handicap (1300 Metres)

JETSKI – Passing the 200m had difficulty drawing his whip. Rider reported that his mount failed to handle the firm track conditions.

FAMILY STAR – Overraced in the early stages and passing the 1200m had to be restrained after improving onto heels.

READY FOR MAGIC – Laid out under pressure in the straight.

GRANT'S PATCH – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced early stages. Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight.


Race 7: WHITSUNDAY WEALTH QTIS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1300 metres)

BEYOND STAR (NZ) – Held up for clear running in the home straight and was unable to be tested at any stage of the event.

MICROWAVE JENNY – Held up for clear running and was unable to be fully tested at any stage. Passing the 50m had to be severely checked to avoid the heels of BEYOND STAR (NZ) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey W Satherley, rider of BEYOND STAR (NZ), was suspended under the provisions of AR131(a) for a period of seven days to commence midnight 28 October to midnight 5 November 2023.

MISHANI MAVERICK – Stewards gave permission for the gelding to race bare behind after dislodging a hind plate and was unable to be reshod.


Race 8: PHOTOBOOTH MAGIC BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (1100 Metres)

FRATELLINO – Laid in under pressure.

ACOUSTIX – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

MEDIA EMPIRE – Raced wide throughout. Passing the 300m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of KAHAYLAAN which shifted out under pressure. Jockey A Sewell, rider of KAHAYLAAN, was reprimanded under AR131(a) and reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.

KAHAYLAAN – Raced wide throughout. Jumped away awkwardly.

COLD POWER – Jumped away awkwardly.

TOTO - Stewards gave permission for the gelding to race bare behind after dislodging a hind plate and was unable to be reshod. Lost near fore plate in running.

TEST OF WAR – Raced wide throughout.


Race 9: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 7TH NOV RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap (1050 Metres)

SCHATZI – Slow to begin.

ELIE JOE - Jumped away awkwardly.

SHESABOMB – Slow into stride. Passing the 700m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of ACT OF ROYALTY which became awkward in its stride.

CHATILLY – Laid out under pressure in the straight.

ACT OF ROYALTY – Passing the 700m shifted in contacting the running rail resulting in the mare becoming awkward in its stride. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
