QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MACKAY TURF CLUB FRIDAY 23 FEBRUARY 2024 WEATHER – FineTRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – TruePENETROMETER – 4.95 OFFICIALS Stewards Panel – T. Hudson, E. Suli, C. Allison & S. Stehbens SUPPLEMENTARY Rockhampton – 16th February 2024Trainer W. Satherley was reprimanded under the provisions of LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch SIR GRACE (NZ) by the prescribed time. Race 9 – CLASS 1 HCP – 1100M - ELVAIRE Rider C Lennon was spoken to regarding allowing his mount ELVAIRE to shift out under pressure in the home straight. C Lennon advised stewards that after rounding the home his mount was only responding fairly to his riding and was only one paced. He added that when ELVAIRE started to shift out under pressure, he allowed this to continue as the gelding seemed to be holding its place in the field rather than losing ground and also wasn’t in a position to impede other runners. He further stated that whilst he continued to test his mount in the straight, ELVAIRE didn’t respond in the manner in which he expected and therefore rode hands and heels to the end of the event. Whilst noting jockey Lennon’s comments, stewards reminded him of his obligations to ensure he stops and straightens his mount when applicable. As Jockey B. Sewell further stated that he had anticipated AIDENABET racing in a forward position in the event but with that runner being slow to begin and racing keenly, he was unable to obtain a trailing position behind AIDENABET until nearing the 800m. AIDENABET – Slow to begin. Elected to shift wider from the 800m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Apprentice B.
