GENERAL
Prior to the declaration of acceptances, stewards questioned Trainer A. Mules in relation to one of his previous runners, CHUCKA DUMMY. According to the Home Hill stewards report published from the meeting on the 18th May 2024, it stated that Trainer Mules advised stewards that CHUCKA DUMMY would be retired following that event. Since that race meeting, the gelding had been transferred to new trainer, J. Hatfield, and nominated for today’s meeting. When speaking to Trainer Mules, he advised that at the Home Hill meeting, he stated to stewards on the day that CHUCKA DUMMY would be leaving his stables and didn’t mention that the gelding would be retired, and stated that maybe due to a possible misunderstanding, it was reported as such. CHUCKA DUMMY underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at today’s meeting and was cleared to start.
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 1. Scott Sheargold - +1kg
Race 5. Justin Stanley - +1kg
Stewards granted permission for Apprentice N. Olzard to not claim any of her 2kg claim on PICANNINY DANCER in Race 1 as there were no other suitable riders available. Apprentice Olzard was fined $100 under the provisions of AR143(14)(a). Apprentice Olzard was then subsequently replaced by Apprentice Z. Sprie in Race 5 on HEROIC EAGLE as she was also unable to claim to her minimum riding weight. Apprentice Olzard was fined a further $100 under the provisions of AR143(14)(a). In determining penalties, stewards took into consideration Apprentice Olzard’s guilty plea and previous record. Apprentice Olzard advised she would be looking to change her minimum riding weight to 55kg for future race meetings.
Apprentice J.L. Devine was granted permission to claim to the minimum riding weight of 56kg. Apprentice Devine’s minimum riding weight change had been approved, with her claiming to 56kg at the Gympie meeting on the 15/06/2024, however some publications still had her previous minimum riding weight published.
POKER DANCER and KEEP ON RUNNING were both declared late scratchings by order of stewards at 12:25pm. Stewards contacted Trainer T. McGovern in relation to matter where he advised he was at the belief that both of his runners had been scratched from the race on Sunday via his Stable Assist, however both had remained in the field.
