SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
YEPPOON – 3/8/24 – RACE 1 – LION NATHAN QTIS MDN PLT – 1000M
 
LOVE ON DISPLAY - Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons that LOVE ON DISPLAY (Apprentice T Orr) clipped the heels of SHADOW MISTRESS (Apprentice JL Devine) and fell shortly after entering the home straight. After assessing all the evidence, stewards issued a charged under AR131(a) to apprentice JL Devine in that she carelessly permitted her mount to shift out shortly after the straight which resulted in LOVE ON DISPLAY clipping heels and falling. Apprentice JL Devine plead guilty to the charge and her license to right to ride in races was suspended for a period of 25 days to commence on midnight 10th August 2024 and to expire on midnight 4th September 2024. In determining penalty, stewards considered Ms Devine’s guilty plea, record, status as an apprentice and the careless riding template.

ROCKHAMPTON – 13/7/24 – RACE 7 – ROCKHAMPTON CUP – 1600M
 
Jockey T Voorham plead guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, and 10 in total, and was fined $700.
 
GENERAL
 
The following weight variances were approved;
 
Race 1 - MOSCOW CITY – R. Wiggins - +1kg
Race 2 - BOLD ZIP – T Voorham – 0.5kg
Race 4 – HANGIN’ AROUND – T Voorham
Race 7 – GALIFIANAKIS (IRE) – C Whiteley - +0.5kg
              SEERESS – J Stanley - +1kg
Race 8 – PATTI WAGIN (NZ) – C Whiteley – 0.5+kg
 
Trainer Joshua Manzelmann was fined $500 under the provisions of AR104(1) for failing to keep an updated treatment record book.
 
Stewards opened an inquiry involving RINGER’S REWARD with stable representative Mrs B Gordy after receiving a report from the Compliance & Assurance Team who conducted a raceday inspection of the mare. After taking initial evidence, stewards permitted RINGER’S REWARD to take its place in the event, however adjourned the inquiry to ascertain more information regarding the statements made by Mrs Gordy.
 
Race 1: STARCUT FLOWERS QTIS 3YO HCP - 1100M
 
ASK ME MATE – Severely hampered passing the 1000m.
 
THAT'S INTERESTING – Hampered on jumping away.
 
POWER OF KATIE – Severely hampered passing the 1000m by ALLDABURGERS who shifted out abruptly. Jockey S Apthorpe, rider of ALLDABURGERS, was reprimanded under AR131(a).
 
MOSCOW CITY – Jumped awkwardly.
 
SECRET BOOM – Hampered on jumping away.
 
ALLDABURGERS – Passing the 1000m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of MOSCOW CITY which shifted in when insufficiently clear and as a result shifted out abruptly contacting POWER OF KATIE.
Jockey R Wiggins, rider of MOSCOW CITY, was reprimanded under AR131(a).
 
Race 2: LADBROKE IT! RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 CP - 1100M
 
KAHAYLAAN – Late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.04pm due to a laceration on the right hind leg. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future race start. In regard to betting Stewards ordered all monies invested on KAHAYLAAN be refunded and all successful wagers placed with bookmakers prior to 1.04pm be paid less the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket.

HARVESTA – Overraced in the early and middle stages and passing the 800m had to restrained off heels.
 
HARTSHORN – Rider reported that his mount had a tendency to lay in throughout the event and in his opinion, may not have handled the firm track conditions.
 
PRIVATE CHEETAH – Dipped shortly after the start.
 
FLAMING HOMER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being kicked behind the barriers and was cleared to start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight,
 
RAGMAN - Raced wide throughout.
 
NANO STAR – Late scratching at 1.07pm on veterinary advice after being fractious in the barriers. Trainers representative Ms J Doolan was advised that NANO STAR would require a further barrier certificate prior to a future race start. In regards to betting Stewards ordered all monies invested on NANO STAR be refunded and all successful wagers placed with bookmakers prior to 1.07pm be paid less the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket.

JUST FRANK – Jumped awkwardly.
 
BOLD ZIP - Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: LADBROKES COMMUNITIES C3 PLT- 1300M
 
ADMIRAL ASH – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISHANI AVIATOR – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SHIPS AHOY – Raced wide throughout. Rider reported that his mount had a tendency to hang out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CHUCKA DUMMY – Slow to begin. Shortly after entering the home straight had to be steadied and shift in after improving onto the heels of the weakening SHIPS AHOY.
 
TERMINUS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
PIPISTRELLE – On entering the home straight became awkwardly placed on heels and had to shift out to improve.
 
DAWN REBEL – Shortly after the start was obliged to steady after racing in restricted room.
 
Following the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a Good 3 retrospective to race 2.
 
Race 4: MAGIC MILLIONS WHITSUNDAY GUINEAS QTIS 4YO HCP - 1560M
 
TRACK TALE – Passing the 800m had to be restrained after improving onto heels.
 
BEAU RAIN – Overraced middle stages.
 
PARADE GROUND – Inside the final 50m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TRACK TAIL, which shifted out. Jockey A Butler, rider of TRACK TAIL, was reprimanded under AR131(a).
 
HANGIN’ AROUND – When questioned regarding the performance, trainer C Taylor stated that he wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance as he believed HANGIN’ AROUND had been in work for some time and was taking a significant rise in class today. Mr Taylor further stated that he would report back to stewards on the condition of the mare in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LINDA'S MAGIC – Slow into stride.
 
RINGER'S REWARD – Had to be restrained shortly after the start.
 
SAILOR'S RUM – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, which was below market expectation, Jockey A Allen reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding and felt flat throughout the event. Trainer N Walsh stated that he was disappointed with today’s performance and would now look to spell SAILOR’S RUM. Stewards ordered that SAILOR’S RUM would have to trial prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DECIDUOUS – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
Race 5: BELLE OF WHITSUNDAY FILLIES AND MARES BM70 HCP - 1560M
 
BRING ME FLOWERS – Rider reported that in his opinion that the mare may not have handled the firm track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
GOLDEN ATHENA – Slow to begin.
 
VIVACIOUS AWARD – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
 
FLYING SHAMUS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
HEARSAY – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 6: JETSON SALVAGE & SCRAP METAL BM70 HCP - 1200M
 
INVINCIBLE JET – Hampered passing the 1000m.
 
BRINGYATICKET - Passing the 500m had to be restrained after improving onto heels.
 
THATFEELSBETTER – Stood flatfooted at the start and was slow to begin.
 
CHICKERARTIE – Passing the 1000m had to be restrained after being tightened onto the running rail by INVINCIBLE JET, who was carried in by MAGIC IN ME, who shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey J Stanley, rider of MAGIC IN ME, plead guilty to a charge of careless riding and was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 19 August 2024 and to conclude midnight 26 August 2024. Rider M Hellyer was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on four consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
 
PRETTY SLICK – Raced wide throughout.
 
SACCA – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination found the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer A. St Vincent was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to accepting for a future start.
 
Race 7: LADBROKES MACKAY CUP - 2000M
 
WARP SPEED – Overraced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover.
 
CASHIN' CHEX (NZ) – Overraced in the early stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight to inside the 100m.
 
FORTIFIED (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SAYL (GB) – Trainers representative Mr M Haley was advised that the gelding would be required to parade and proceed to the start in a trial/jump out under raceday conditions without delay prior to accepting for a future race start after proving difficult to leave the mounting yard.
 
MAHAGONI (GB) – Slow to begin.
 
SUCH A WHIT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SEERESS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: LADBROKES RACING CLUB BM58 HCP - 2000M
 
GOLD WITNESS - Bumped on jumping. Overraced early stages. Hampered passing the 200m. Rider reported that he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. Trainer K Smyth reported that in his opinion GOLD WITNESS may not have handled the step up in distance and stated that he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
WHATJEUDOIN' – Hampered passing the 200m.
 
ROZNAMLA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Manzelmann reported that he would now be considering the immediate racing future of ROZNAMLA.
 
DOOM DIVA – Hampered on jumping.
 
PATTI WAGGIN – Overraced early stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer G Green reported that the gelding had chiropractic work following its last start at Mackay and as a result had pleased in its work leading into today’s event. Stewards reminded trainer Green of his obligations to report any condition that may have affected its performance in future.
 
VOLARCHI – Slow to begin and was hampered shortly after.
