QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MACKAY TURF CLUB THURSDAY 14TH NOVEMBER 2024 WEATHER – FINETRACK RATING – GOOD 4RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – H. GillettStewards – E. Suli, S. Stehbens & G. Wust GENERAL Stewards permitted overweights as per the race day summary. Trainer Joshua Manzelmann was reprimanded under LR36(6) for failing to scratch dual accepted AIDENABET out of one of the races by the prescribed time. Trainer Tracy Simmons was reprimanded under LR36(6) for failing to scratch dual accepted LAST LAUGH out of one of the races by the prescribed time after gaining a start in more than one race on the day of acceptances. As Jockey Jake Bayliss was not riding at today’s meeting due to personal reasons, replacements were approved as per the race day summary. All runners that had competed at meetings within the previous 7 days underwent pre-race veterinary examinations and were cleared to start. Race 1: SKY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP (1560 Metres) WELL HELD – Over raced in the early and middle stages and had to be restrained off the heels of IMPERIAL BLOSSOM on a number of occasions. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. SOGOYA – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. UNDER THE SHADOW – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. CLUCK – Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in today’s event, Jockey A. Sewell stated that he was advised by the trainer’s representative to attempt to be more positive in running. When asked for a comment on the performance of the filly, Jockey Sewell stated his mount was stepping up in distance and grade in today’s event and further advised that CLUCK was travelling well in the early and middle stages, however when asked for an effort upon entering the home straight, the filly failed to respond to his riding urges over the concluding stages and went to the line in a disappointing manner. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted, Trainer J. Manzelmann confirmed that those were the instructions given to Jockey Sewell. Trainer Manzelmann advised that it is the stables intention to always have CLUCK racing in a positive position where circumstances permit. Trainer Manzelmann further stated that he had issued the same instructions in CLUCK’s previous two starts for him, however circumstances have led to CLUCK being unable to be ridden in that pattern. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on CLUCK’s record for its poor performance. IMPERIAL BLOSSOM – Hung in throughout. Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Murphy reported that IMPERIAL BLOSSOM raced greenly throughout, which placed him in some difficulty being able to fully test his mount out to the finish. Jockey Murphy further advised that in his opinion IMPERIAL BLOSSOM would be better suited having its blinkers removed. Race 2: LADBROKES RACING CLUB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 Metres) WOODSTOCK ROCK – Shifted out abruptly on jumping. Shifted in and bumped SOCIAL CHANGE upon entering the home straight, despite the efforts from its rider. Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. CARE TAKER – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide in the early stages. CHOCMINT – Over raced in the early stages. TRAVELLING SWEET – When questioned regarding the performance in today’s event, Jockey J. Stanley stated that he could offer no explanation for the performance of TRAVELLING SWEET and that his mount had travelled well throughout the event and had gone to the line in a disappointing manner. I'M STELLAR – Proved difficult to load prior to the start. Trainer J. Bell was advised that a warning would be placed on I’M STELLLAR’s record for being difficult to load. Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages until obtaining a position outside the lead near the 800m. SOCIAL CHANGE – Bumped by WOODSTOCK ROCK which shifted in upon entering the home straight, despite the efforts from its rider. BADLIFEDECISION – Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. MARKERINK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at Moranbah on the 9th of November and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MISHANI OPAL – Bounded on jumping and as a result was slow to begin. MISHANI TALENT – Slow into stride. NOVEMBER FOAL – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Race 3: BOOK FOR CHRISTMAS MEETING SATURDAY 14TH DECEMBER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 Metres) The start of the race was delayed when THE GENERAL TALKS had dislodged its rider en-route to the barriers and had to be captured by the clerk of the course after running through the outside running rail near the 1300m. Remedial work was conducted on the rail prior to the loading process. CAMILLATHECHICKEN (NZ) – Proved difficult to load and kicked out when being loaded. Trainer D. Crouch was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of CAMILLATHECHICKEN (NZ) for its loading behaviour. Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. THE GENERAL TALKS – En-route to the barriers, THE GENERAL TALKS had dislodged Apprentice M. Campbell and galloped for a significant distance and running through the running rail, prior to being captured by the clerk of the course. THE GENERAL TALKS was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:32pm by order of stewards. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards ordered that all bets placed on THE GENERAL TALKS be refunded in full, with the following deductions to apply to all successful bets: 11 cents in the dollar for the winner (LOVES AFFECTION)13 cents in the dollar for the place of the winner (LOVES AFFECTION)13 cents in the dollar for 2nd place (LADY DE VEGA)13 cents in the dollar for 3rd place (OHMIKKIUSOFINE) THE GENERAL TALKS underwent a veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B. Thompson was advised that THE GENERAL TALKS would be required to trial prior to its next race start. OUR ROSA ROSSA – Jumped away awkwardly. LOVES AFFECTION – When questioned regarding the improved performance in today’s event, Trainer M. Jokic stated that he recently had applied a crossover noseband to the gear of LOVES AFFECTION in an attempt to have the mare race more trackable after it was inclined to hang out during its previous start at Innisfail on the 3rd of November where a warning was placed on its racing manners. Trainer Jokic further advised that LOVES AFFECTION had been working well in the lead up to today’s event and was expecting a forward showing. JOHN'S ROAD – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 150m. FRUIT TINGLE – Elected to shift out to obtain clear racing room near the 150m. Had to be momentarily restrained to avoid the heels of HEAD BEE when laying inwards passing the 100m. LADY DE VEGA – Raced wide in the early stages. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. HEAD BEE – Raced wide in the early stages. OHMIKKIUSOFINE – Shifted in on jumping. Raced greenly throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight and made contact with the inside running rail near the 250m. THREDBO – Raced wide throughout. Race 4: LADBROKES CLASS 6 PLATE (1100 Metres) LEADERSHIP SPILL – Shifted in abruptly on jumping, heavily bumping NANO STAR, which in turn was carried inwards and bumped with RIGEL STAR. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. AIDENABET – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight and made contact with the inside running rail near the 300m. RIGEL STAR – Bumped on jumping by NANO STAR, which was taken in by LEADERSHIP SPILL which shifted in abruptly. SUNNYCOAST – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance in today’s event in comparation to previous starts, Trainer J. McConachy stated that SUNNYCOAST was having its first start after an extended lengthy spell following its previous preparation and advised that the gelding had been working well in the lead up to today’s event. Trainer McConachy further stated that he was expecting the forward showing today. STAR GAMBLE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Made the bend awkwardly near the 600m. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey W. Satherley stated he wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance and advised that the gelding would derive benefit from today’s run. Trainer G. Bell concurred with Jockey Satherley’s comments in that she wasn’t overly disappointed in the gelding first run for her stable. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. NANO STAR – Bumped heavily on jumping by LEADERSHIP SPILL, which shifted in abruptly, and was carried inwards bumping with RIGEL STAR. Over raced in the early stages. Race 5: CRAIG FREEMAN TEAM RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1100 Metres) HARVESTA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MIL CIENTO – Bounded on jumping and as a result was slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. BOOMING FAST – Held up for clear racing room for majority of the home straight. CROWN REACH – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MICROWAVE JENNY – Over raced in the early stages. Held up in the home straight until electing to shift out to obtain clear racing room passing the 200m. LET'S ROLL – Reared on jumping as the start was affected and lost considerable ground as a result. Trainer L. Wright was advised that LET’S ROLL would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. BOOMALINA – Shifted out abruptly on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages. DUBIOUS AUTHORITY – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. LAST LAUGH – Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 6: BECOME A MEMBER MTC OPEN HANDICAP (1560 Metres) BERING SEA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. BONDURANT – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Upon to returning to scale, Jockey S. Cormack reported that BONDURANT had anticipated the start which resulted in it being awkward away. Raced wide throughout. DOLLAR DOLLAR (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. POET'S DAY – Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. DEEL WITH ME – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at Rockhampton on the 8th of November and was cleared to start. KELLERS SHELTER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at Rockhampton on the 8th of November and was cleared to start. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MALVAGIO – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey P. Romeo stated that gelding raced flat throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Russell advised stewards that they would be looking into the immediate racing future of MALVAGIO within their stable. Nonetheless, stewards advised trainer Russell that MALVAGIO would be barred from racing at TAB venues until its form improves at NON-TAB race venues. Race 7: MOYLE CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 1 PLATE (1560 Metres) ALREADY BETTER – Shifted in abruptly on jumping, hampering MADNUS LEE. When questioned regarding the performance in today’s performance, Jockey A. Sewell stated that he could offer no explanation for the seemingly poor performance. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for its poor performance. GENERAL HIPPO – Reluctant to load prior to the start. Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight and had to be corrected by its rider on multiple occasions. Trainer W. Johnstone was advised that a warning would be placed on GENERAL HIPPO’s record for being reluctant to load. RELEASE LE MISSILE – Jumped away awkwardly. CASA FAGLIANO – Raced keenly in the early stages. NAHEIGHTKAY – Elected to shift wider to obtain clear racing home near the 300m. PRIDE AN' JOY – Slow to begin. HADMYTIME – Jumped away awkwardly. Jockey R. Wiggins fined $500 under the provisions of AR211(1) for weighing in excess of 0.5kg overweight upon returning to scales. When considering penalty stewards were mindful of Mr Wiggins record in relation to the rule and his guilty plea. KINGS CASTLE (FR) – Shifted in on jumping, hampering MADNUS LEE and became awkward in its action and blundered shortly after. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. MADNUS LEE – Hampered on jumping by KINGS CASTLE (FR) which shifted out and ALREADY BETTER which shifted in. Race 8: LADBROKES COMMUNITIES CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300 Metres) The start of the race was delayed due to a previous starter on the day becoming loose in the float carpark after breaking its halter and had to be re-captured in the tie-up stalls before the field could be presented to the mounting yard. SPIRITED SMILE – Slow to begin. Upon returning to scale, Jockey R. Wiggins reported that his mount felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Lancaster was advised to report to stewards on the condition of SPIRITED SMILE in the coming days. EUROMANTIC – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. FERGHANA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at Longreach on the 10th of November and was cleared to start. Shifted out shortly after jumping, bumping TSUNAMI FORCE. Race 9: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 26TH NOVEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 - 65 HANDICAP (1300 Metres) THE PUNISHER – Knuckled shortly after jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. BUSH DIAMOND – When questioned regarding the performance in today’s event, Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount felt flat and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight and therefore elected to ease his mount over the concluding stages. Trainer C. Taylor was advised to report to stewards on the condition of BUSH DIAMOND in the coming days. SENNAPROST – Held up in the home straight until a point near the 200m. CHILLI PALMER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at Moranbah on the 9th of November and was cleared to start. LUVIN' OUR GRACE – Raced wide throughout. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice M. Apel reported that her mount felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed minor lacerations to both hind legs. BROMES – Slow into stride. MISHANI AVIATOR – Trainer’s Representative J.
