Race 1: SKY RACING BM60 HANDICAP (1800 Metres)

MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) – Bumped with KELLERS SHELTER shortly after the start. Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice L. Martyn stated that it was her intention to attempt to obtain a position closer to the rail, however after being unable to do so, had to settle one off the fence. Apprentice Martyn further stated that from a point near the 400m, when asked for an effort MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) failed to respond to her riding urges and went to the line in a disappointing manner. Trainer K. Smyth reported that he was not overly disappointed with the performance given the circumstances of the race in that MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) not being able to obtain a rail position with cover after racing wide in the early stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer Smyth was advised to undertake and report to stewards on the condition of MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) in the days subsequent.

KELLERS SHELTER – Bumped on jumping by DEEL WITH ME and bumped with MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) shortly after. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 700m elected to shift wider to improve. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

RELEASE LE MISSILE – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the middle stages and had to be restrained on a number of occasions. Laid inwards when under pressure over the concluding stages.

DEEL WITH ME – Jumped outwards at the start bumping KELLERS SHELTER.

EYES ARE LION – Raced wide in the early stages.

ORCA – Began awkwardly. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

PROSPETTIVA (NZ) – Held up for clear racing room until the 200m. Over the final stages had to momentarily steady from the heels of KELLERS SHELTER and shift inwards.

SIMPLY TINA – Slow to begin. Near the 1000m improved onto the heels of PROSPETTIVA and had to be checked.

TORQUE ESPAGNA – Began awkwardly and slow into stride as a result.

Following the running of this event, the track was upgraded to a GOOD 3 retrospectively.


Race 2: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP (1050 Metres)

POWERED RIGHT UP – Shifted in on jumping and bumped with NOSEY NEO.

WHATTA MISSION – Shifted out abruptly on jumping and knuckled shortly after. Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Stanley reported that after jumping away very awkwardly, his mount proceeded to travel well in the middle stages however upon entering the home straight, WHATTA MISSION commenced to hang out when placed under pressure which proved difficulty in allowing Jockey Stanley to fully test his mount out over the final stages. Jockey Stanley further added that WHATTA MISSION may not have handled the firmer conditions of today’s racing surface.

NOSEY NEO – Shifted out on jumping and bumped with POWERED RIGHT UP.

BOLLA BOLLA BABE – Jumped away awkwardly.

LOUIS AUGUSTE – Inclined to hung out rounding the home turn.

FABULEAN – Slow to begin. Near the 800m, was eased out of the event and subsequently failed to finish. Jockey J. Murphy reported to stewards that he elected to ease his mount out of the event in the early stages due to FABULEAN becoming very awkward in its action. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to its near fore hoof. Trainer J. Hatfield was advised that FABULEAN would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.


Race 3: BECOME A MEMBER MTC MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 Metres)

The start of this race was delayed approximately two (2) minutes when I SWIM I WIN (NZ) had to be re-saddled behind the barriers.

ONE PERCENT – Jockey R. Wiggins was reminded of his obligations in ensuring he rides his mounts out fully to the line.

I SWIM I WIN (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Elected to shift outwards and race wider from a point near the 700m.

CAMILLATHECHICKEN (NZ) – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed minor abrasions to the near-side hindleg.

LUSTROUS SINS – Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Stanley stated that his mount failed to travel trackable throughout the early stages and at a point near the 700m, the filly had dipped after putting in an awkward stride where from that point onwards was under pressure and had put in another awkward stride in the early stages of the home straight. As a result of the filly’s awkward actions, Jockey Stanley elected to ease his mount from the event and not place LUSTRIOUS SINS under any further pressure. Underwent a post-race veterinary examinations which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities at the time of the examination. However, as the on-course veterinarian was not comfortably satisfied that there were no apparent abnormalities without undertaking a full examination, Stewards advised Trainer J. Kuhn that LUSTRIOUS SINS would require a full veterinary clearance of soundness prior to its next race start.

FICTIVE (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 700m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of LUSTRIOUS SINS which had put in an awkward stride. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

VINROSA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keen in the early and middle stages,

BOYFRIEND MATERIAL – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.

ME TIME – Bumped on jumping by CLUCK which shifted out. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer J. Kuhn stated to stewards that during its most recent start at Rockhampton, ME TIME had lost its plate in running during that event, and since then Trainer Kuhn had undertaken remedial farrier work on the mare. Trainer Kuhn further stated that with correct shoeing, which would in her opinion prove beneficial in the mare’s chances, and the fact that ME TIME had been working well in the lead up to today’s event, Trainer Kuhn was expecting ME TIME to show significant improvement.

CLUCK – Shifted out on jumping, bumping ME TIME. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

FRUIT TINGLE – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result slow to begin.

JOHN'S ROAD – Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice after JOHN’S ROAD had become fractious in a wash bay and had injured itself prior to the begin transported to the racecourse. Trainer T. Simmons was advised that JOHN’S ROAD would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.

LADY DE VEGA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.


Race 4: BOOK FOR CHRISTMAS MEETING SAT 14TH DEC OPEN HANDICAP (1300 Metres)

The start of this race was delayed when CASHIN CHEX (NZ) was late to be presented to the mounting yard. Trainer D. Crouch was issued with a reprimand under the provisions of AR194 for failing to present CASHIN CHEX (NZ) to the mounting yard within the required time. The start of this race was further delayed approximately three (3) minutes when CASHIN CHEX (NZ) was required to undertake gear adjustments at the barriers.

STAMPE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at Emerald on Saturday 23rd November and was cleared to start. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

CASHIN' CHEX (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Held up in the home straight and elected to shift outwards near the 200m to obtain clear racing room and had carried FANAAR (NZ) wider.

BRAD – Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 150m.

THE DRILLER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

FANAAR (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Carried wider near the 200m when CASHIN CHEX (NZ) shifted outwards.

CHICKERARTIE – Raced wide in the early stages. Commenced to overrace in the early and middle stages of the event and had to be restrained from heels of other runners on a number of occasions.


Race 5: LADBROKES OWN SPRING 0 - 65 HANDICAP (1300 Metres)

The start of this race was delayed when TRICKETEER had become fractious in the barriers prior to the start and lunged forward opening the barrier gate. TRICKETEER subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

EARLY FUSION – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping.

THE PUNISHER – Jumped away awkwardly. Momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room between runners approaching the 1200m. Raced wide in the early stages. Elected to shift wider near the 550m.

NONDISCLOSURE – Raced wide in the early stages until obtaining a lead position near the 800m.

TRICKETEER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an insignificant laceration to the underside of tongue.

BRASCO – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Jockey J. Murphy reported that after having its second start without any gear, BRASCO felt more relaxed today and had travelled well throughout the event and was expecting an improved performance. Jockey Murphy further added that BRASCO resented the use of the whip in the early stages of the home straight and elected to ride the gelding to the line with hands and heels, which in his opinion was the riding technique that BRASCO responded to the most.

TOW THE LINE – Raced wide in the early stages.

DIASONIC – Dipped shortly after jumping.

AIDENABET – Had to momentarily steady shortly after jumping when EARLY FUSION shifted inwards. Apprentice M. Apel was reminded of her obligations in ensuring that she in fully clear of other runners when shifting ground after jumping away. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

QUEENSLANDER – Jumped away awkwardly.

MICROWAVE JENNY – Raced wide in the early stages.


Race 6: LADBROKES RACING CLUB QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP (1100 Metres)

ASTRA STAR – Bumped shortly after the start by SAVVY MISS which wad carried out. Raced wide throughout.

TIME TO PROPHET – Bumped on jumping by OBLIGATED which shifted in and SMART MISSION which shifted out. Raced wide throughout.

OBLIGATED – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, bumping TIME TO PROPHET. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

FRASER'S RIDGE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

MARGOT BARBIE – Inclined to lay out near the 100m and had to be steadied by its rider to avoid the heels of MISSISSIPPI MORN.

SMART MISSION – Shifted out on jumping, bumping TIME TO PROPHET. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear racing room in the home straight until a point near the 150m.

COSMIC ATOM – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, hampering SAVVY MISS. Raced wide in the early stages.

SOGOYA – Raced wide throughout.

SAVVY MISS – Hampered on jumping by COSMIC ATOM, which shifted outwards, and was carried out and bumped ASTRA STAR.


Race 7: RACING AGAIN SAT 14TH DEC BM55 HANDICAP (1100 Metres)

MIL CIENTO – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

HARVESTA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

NANO STAR – Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

SPEC OF SILVER – Trainer D. Crouch was issued a reprimand under the provisions of LR30(1)(b) for failing to present SPEC OF SILVER on course by the required prescribed time. Pre-race samples were collected for analysis. Raced wide in the early stages. Held up for clear racing room for majority of the home straight until a point near the 100m.

TERMINUS – Raced wide throughout.

FLYING MAPLE – Bumped on jumping by DISCOVERED GOLD which shifted in. Raced wide throughout. Near the 550m, overraced onto the heels of DISCOVERED GOLD and had to shifted wider on the track. Laid in when placed under pressure in the early stages of home straight and laid out over the concluding stages.

DISCOVERED GOLD – Shifted in on jumping, bumping FLYING MAPLE. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances in DISCOVERED GOLD being presented to race with earmuffs, which are listed on its gear, and those earmuffs being removed subsequently prior to DISCOVERED GOLD entering the course proper to race without the declared gear.

THUNDER MOON – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn. Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 200m.

LOVE ON DISPLAY – Jumped away awkwardly.

MOON OVER MATILDA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
