Prior to the event Stewards were advised that Jockey Clayton Schumacher and Apprentice Bridget Rooney would not be attending the meeting. Scratching’s and changes as per Stewards Summary.
 
Stewards fined Apprentice N. Morton $200 under AR.92(12) for failing to claim her full allowance in races five and six. 
 
RACE 1: CLIPEX 'FRED BALLINGALL MEMORIAL' BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP – 1000m
 
NUDE SECRETS – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside.
 
EQUAL RULER – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
WHO’S YOUR DADDY – Stood flat footed taking no competitive part in the event. Stewards advised Trainer E. Brassington that the gelding would require a series of barrier trials prior to returning to race.
 
HIDDEN ROAD – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
RACE 2: MORVEN TRUCKSTOP & WESTLINK PETROLEUM BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1000m
 
The start of the event was amended to 2:30pm to allow works to be undertaken on the barriers.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons why LOTHBROK and BETTER OFFER fell at the 800m dislodging their riders. Stewards adjourned the inquiry to allow Jockey’s J. Rudd and C. Rogers to attend and give evidence.  
 
LOTHBROK – Fell rounding the 800m turn and after sustaining an injury to the near fore leg was subsequently euthanatized.
 
BETTER OFFER – Fell rounding the 800m turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
 
 
RACE 3: DELFORCE & SULLIVAN TRANSPORT QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200m
 
The start of race three was amended to 4:00pm to allow the Queensland Ambulance Service to attend to injured riders and for Club Representatives to attend to an area of the track at the 800m.  
 
Following the running of the second event, TENT LOVER and JAMAZEM were declared late scratching by order of the Stewards due to no riders being available. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in TENT LOVER and JAMAZEM prior to 3:15pm be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
12 cents in the dollar for the win - #7
17 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #7
21 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #2
26 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #4



BRONZE BRONCO – Slow to begin. Trainer J. Baker advised that the gelding would be retired following today’s event.
 
SCHOMO – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the inside.
 
NOONOO – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Trainer J. Baker advised that the filly lost its tongue tie during the event and subsequent to today’s run will be going for a spell.
 

RACE 4: MORGAN PASTORAL 'DOUG UTTING MEMORIAL' BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1400m
 
The start of the event was amended to 4;30pm.
 
GRAVITY FORCE – Slow to begin.
 
WITHOUT DISSENT – Began awkwardly.
 
MUDCRAB – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
RACE 5: CURLEY CATTLE TPT 'IAN SHEPPARD MEMORIAL' MORVEN CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1400m
 
The start of the event was amended to 5:00pm.
 
MURPHY’S HUSTLER – Slow to begin.
 
DAWN FIGHTER – Raced three wide no cover throughout.
 
RACE6: MORVEN RACE CLUB SUPPORTERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1800m
 
The start of the event was amended to 5:45pm.
