QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT MORVEN RACE CLUB SATURDAY 6TH MAY 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING DIRT RAIL TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T PrestonStewards – D MacDonaldClerk of Scales –StewardsJudge – ClubVeterinarian – Dr G SimcockStarter – E BrassingtonPhoto finish Operator- B Lines GENERAL Stewards permitted Jky N Fazackerley to ride +.5kg on PURPLE SONG in Race 2 and +1.0kg on LASCO in Race 4. Race 6- Stewards permitted Jky S Galvin to ride PHYLAVE +1.5kg overweight due to no other rider being available. Race 1: LANDSBOROUGH BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000M KALMIA- The start of the Race was delayed as a result of the gelding became fractious in the barriers and had its head over the barrier partition after being loaded and failed to jump with the field. Trainer R Frazer and Jky D Boutet made application for KALMIA to be declared a non -runner. After reviewing the footage available to them and hearing evidence from the Starter and other parties Stewards acting under the provision of AR204 (1) declared KALMIA a non-runner. All monies invested as a result of Kalmia being declared a non-runner were ordered to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply to all bets placed on the winner and placegetters. Win- BUBBLE BATH- 27c , Place, 26c, 2nd place getter- THE SABBATH- 25c,and due to insufficient runners NTD on OAKFIELD BLOSSOM. Stewards subsequently declared correct weight. Trainer R Frazer was advised that a Warning would be placed on the horse due to its barrier manners. AURIC GOLD- Hung in during the early stages before being corrected by the rider. OAKFIELD BLOSSOM- Bumped by another runner at the start. DOMMANTELLA- Began awkwardly and bumped OAKFIELD BLOSSOM after the start. Race 2: KILLARNEY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M SOCIAL STAR- Began awkwardly on jumping made contact with the barrier petition and lost ground. Then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. A Post-race Veterinary examination was undertaken due to the below market performance, no abnormalities were detected. SPIRITUAL BELIEF- When approaching the 700m point rolled in marginally resulting in PARA PARK MAKEUP racing in restricted room for a short distance. PARA PARK MAKEUP- Raced in restricted room approaching the 700m point when SPIRITUAL belief rolled in marginally. Race 3: NEBINE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M EARLY PLEA- Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner after the start. Laid in after entering the home straight for a short distance before being corrected by the rider. FLASH FIBIAN- Began awkwardly and bumped with EARLY PLEA shortly after the start. CURIC- Raced disappointingly throughout, a post- race veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected. Stewards spoke with Trainer R Kerwin who advised that the one month between runs, being back in distance and thought that the horse wasn’t suited to the track conditions today combined to affect the horse’s performance today. She did add that CURIC did run on well over the final stages. Stewards noted Ms Kerwin’s comments. HANGRY- Began awkwardly and then dipped on jumping. Race 4: WARREGO RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1200M MISERY MISS- The start was delayed due to the horse proving difficult to load. Trainer Mr D Baker was advised that a Warning would be placed on the mare today. GATEWAYS- Slow to begin raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Trainer G Bignell was advised by Stewards that the horse would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to the next start. LASCO- Laid in under pressure in the home straight. FUNKY FARM- Was slow to begin. Race 5: OLD CHARLEVILLE CLASS 6 PLATE 1200M BEAN DANCING- Began slowly then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Raced wide for the majority and drifted wider after entering the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected. Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr D Baker regarding the horse’s seemingly disappointing performance today. He advised that after missing the start and not racing handy, it wasn’t suited by the track conditions and particularly resented the kickback the dust and the weight carried today had a bearing on the run. Stewards noted Mr Bakers comments. PASS THE CARD- Lost ground when leaving the 500m and raced at the rear of the field for the remainder of the event. A post- race Veterinary examination was undertaken with no abnormalities being detected. TANGO TINO- Slow to begin. VINAIGRETTE- Laid out under pressure in the home straight. IN’HINCHABLE- Laid out when under pressure over the final stages of the event. RACE 6- SHEPPARD FAMILY MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP 1400M PARKO- Raced wide for the majority then began to hang out at the 1200m before being corrected by the rider. In the home straight laid in under pressure over the final stages of the event. HANOVER SQUARE- Raced wide for the majority then raced extremely wide when straightening in the home turn for the remainder of the event. GALAPAGOS- Slow to begin. REVENIRE- Began awkwardly. PHYLAVE- Due to no rider being available Stewards permitted Jky S Galvin to ride +1.5kg overweight. Raced wide for the majority of the event and raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
